We were out last night so didn't switch the box out of standby. Neither of our schedules recorded (mad men hd/apprentice). When we switched on tonight they were still showing in the schedule as if they were upcoming recordings but after loading the guide the next episodes showed.

Definitely something odd last night - those are my first failed recordings since getting the box.

did anyone lose their entire schedule? I lost my whole schedule at some point this week, I assume after one of the auto re-scans that occurred. I haven't done any manual scans.

No. Have you been into non-freesat mode this week and scanned for channels there; or deleted/edited/moved any of your existing non-freesat channels?

This will delete all your freesat scheduled timers.

Having had a week away on a business trip one is not amused . All series recordings have not taken place but interestingly the one off recordings seem to be there. Watched a programme late last night when the record clock symbol was still displayed when it should have been recording for abot half an hour. Switched over to the +1 alternative and watched OK. If relevant the HDR was parked on Euronews whilst away.
Now having come back from the shops the clock on the display is up which was expected for a scheduled recording and I thought I was back to normal havind parked on BBC1 overnight. Swiched the HDR "on" and its display changed from BBC1 to -MENU- , and it seems to have locked up in this mode as the TV has the setup menu displayed with Freesat Tune highlighted and no response from the remote. Totally locked up What the hell is going on?

This is getting painful. The box locked up when brought out of standby last night (was recording the BBC2 repeat of Mad Men so i lost my second attempt at that show. Luckily theres a third showing!) - i nearly alwasy have this when switching on whilst recording.

Then at midnight the box seemed to switch itself to standby. Think i've seen this before - i wonder if the auto-standby gets confused at midnight (clock was showing 0001 by the time it had booted again).

Something strange happened to my box last night. First thing this morning it was showing the time as if it was still recording, but later it had reverted to the normal standby display.
When I investigated I found it had apparently recorded the repeat of last Monday's Gadget Show shown this morning instead of Pushing Daisies last night. There were no thumbnails for this or for the scheduled English Heritage episode shown earlier that evening.
Apart from the missing thumbnails the recording of the Gadget Show was normal but I notice it was scheduled for almost exactly twelve hours after Pushing Daisies - was this just a coincidence?

I moved a non freesat channel. Not a scan, just moved it up the list. Didn't know that deleted the schedule. Thanks for the info.

This seems to be a common occurrence. It's happened to me in the past and again today after I brought the box out of standby when it was recording Robin Hood. If you just leave it until after the time the recording is due to finish and then reset the box, you should still be able to watch the recording, even though it will have the 'broken' symbol next to it.

Pushing Daisies didn't record for me last night either. Just showing the 'failed recording' information with a nil bytes file size. Usual message 'unknown reason'.

Thanks for the information ! Again I have learnt something new and important! I got the "0" added update this morning () and sure enough my ITV HD scheduled recording was missing. I would not have checked without your posting.

I assume I got the "update" today as it failed yesterday. I don't understand why I did not get the update on Friday night when I first turned the HDR on after everybody else had got theirs.

In more general terms who is responsible for this cock-up? Is it Freesat? I feel a Grumpy complaint coming on

You're welcome, it's an easy one to forget.

I don't know why you didn't get the zero channels update the first time you turned it on. Although looking at this from your earlier post :-

Did you leave your HDR ON whilst you were away, not in Standby? There have been a few posts in various threads about not doing this. The box needs to do various bits of housekeeping during its nocturnal Standby, and leaving it on constantly is not recommended.

As to whose fault it is, I guess we'll never really know. Is is Freesat for sending down a duff zero channel update, or is it Humax for not being able to deal with the duff data more elegantly?

Whilst I like the box (I haven't had too many unexplained issues), I'm not sure I could go away for 2 weeks holiday, and feel comfortable that it would have recorded everything whilst I was away, and not been caught out for some reason. I'm glad I've got my 9300T Freeview box as well.

Rgds.

Thanks Les. My HDR is always left in Standby. With the cost of electricity here the <1 Watt consuption is a bonus! Last night it was parked on ITV3. I'd still like to register a complaint somewhere as until now I was confident that it would do the business whilst away for a couple of weeks. I've lost some stuff that was important to me which I cannot get again and to be honest I'm miffed

Being so miffed about this I just called FREESAT.

They are totally unaware of the problem
They claim to sub-contract the EPG updates to Samsung
They claim it could be caused by "the daily software updates sent by HUMAX" via the satellite
They are going to contact HUMAX when I submit a complaint in writing.
They have HDRs on constant test and have not had any problems.
Thus I think they (Freesat) need a wake-up call on 0845 313 0052

http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?page=help.NewTicket

I hope a few more of you good people will phone them and with fortune they may take it more seriously!

I would take what Freesat says with a pinch of salt. I was told the exact same thing when i was querying why series link wasn't working on certain BBC programmes. It later transpired that the programmes in question do not carry the program crid and hence will not record by series link.
