My Impossible Princess has brought in a baby lizard and eaten it's tail.

What should I do with the lizard? I have no experience of them. Do they just eat flies? I don't think it is well enough to go out.

Their tails are normally designed to be "disposable". Most lizards can survive without them.

As for keeping/looking after it.

Probably not a good idea on two counts.

One - I suspect you're probably not supposed to! Not 100% sure but I think taking any native reptile from the wild in the UK is frowned upon!

Two - Unless you have the right setup and food supply (I don't think "just flies" will do I'm afraid) then you're highly unlikely to do it any good by keeping it anyway. If anything, you're more likely to make it worse. It'll need UV lighting, a heat source, the right food (and possibly supplements as well as getting all the right food in captivity isn't easy). They're also VERY good escape artists.

You could try contacting these guys:

It is just sitting and not moving. Its little heart is beating as can see it's chest moving.

Rest of it looks knackered but then if I was that tiny and been smacked under and over the lounge rug I don't think I would move very well.

I suppose it best to put it the garden again and hope it is not recaptured.

Is it sunny down your way today?

If you can find somewhere sunny but secluded, that would be the best place to put it.

They need the sunlight to get themselves moving ....

what lizard would you say it is?

they drop their tails as an escape mechanism (the tail keeps moving and the lizard stays completely still to eventually escape)

if you plan on keeping it, you'll need a secure tank, substrate, heat mat/lamp providing a temperature gradient, places to hide, water bowl, lighting

to feed it, mealworms from a petstore (live ones) or crickets are usually the most used, sometimes locusts, depending on the size of the animal
a dusting of suppliment powder is a good idea, the store should be able to advise you on it

if it's in a state though, take it to a rescue centre, or failing that a vet - they're obliged to treat a wild animal free of charge

It was a kind of mottled green. It was not a Kent lizard as they are sandy.

I put it under a bit of plastic sheeting that had been warmed up by the sun. When I checked on it,it had gone.

So I presume it got warm enough to scamper off.
