Strange goings on tonight
Flyer 10
06-05-2009
I recorded the cricket and wild china tonight and the cricket recorded for 2 hours and 45 mins, which was well over time.

Wild china failed and couldnt be played back.

Anyone know why this happened or have had a similar thing happen?

I would be annoyed but the chelsea result has put me in a great mood.

not sure if it's related, but I noticed during the night, that the time was displayed. Checked it this morning, and the clock was still on. Worse, The Wire didn't record overnight- 2nd missed recording this week, after Damages on Sunday. It's still showing in the schedule. Does this machine not cope well with recordings scheduled after midnight?

I have noticed that, if you turn switch the box on and press the programme guide button just after midnight, current programmes that started before midnight will not be displayed in the EPG. However, if you press the "i" button you will get the information for the programme. I guess that the box clears it's cached EPG of all programmes that started yesterday and these are no longer being transmitted as part of the EPG but the information for current programmes is still being transmitted as part of the now and next information.

It's difficult to see how this could effect could cause a recording failure but it does show that there are quirks with the EPG around midnight and there could conceivably be a related effect.
