VH-1 still editing out the words of "Fairytale Of New York".

No, it's just a crap app. Doesn't work very well anyway as it just plays the same songs from the same people who must have found a way to flood the voting.”

Oh well Were there no attractive teachers/lecturers around in your day? I guess I just got lucky Maybe I'll uninstall it then. It didn't even have any Britney songs on it. In fact it didn't seem to have many older songs at all. It mostly has current ones.

Any other Christmas time (few years or so) that song was never edited ... still see no reason for the PC madness to butcher songs

I presume one of the words has an F word in it (and its not ****)

But lets remember though you can have scantly clad women in bikinis and thongs during the day .... but we can't allow "other" words through as we have to think of the young ones .... do they seem to forget people can GOOGLE the song and get it unedited? Bad enough this lot editing "dirty" out of a song - the music world has finally gone mad! Can I request we get some Sex Pistols on

Not anywhere I went, so the Busted video went over my head

No, the planetpop app is poor. They have current/recent songs as 'classics'. Their video library doesn't go back very far.

I can't believe people still give these music channels credibility. MTV stands for Entertainment now and Viacom will push further into the entertainment market next year with Spike replacing VIVA on Freeview and the fact they purchased Channel 5.

It won't be long before Sky hoovers up these channels in with the entertainment section once a few closures come about. VIVA and 4Music would fit nicely in there with the entertainment and now lifestyle channels.

One would imagine Sony must have plans to expand rather than keep churning out the same rubbish CSC was under previous ownership.

Oh ok Well I've had a few attractive lecturers but none as attractive as that one Maybe I have a girl crush on her (rather than a romantic/sexual crush) She always looks very smart and professional, though I saw her in casual clothes a couple of times (usually on Fridays). I think my college has dress down Fridays for staff as most lecturers seem to wear casual clothes then. I think she's in her mid 40s but she looks younger. One of my friends thought she was in her 30s!

That doesn't make sense Current songs would only become classics if they're iconic or influential enough or if they have been big hits. How many songs from the 2010s have the potential to become classics in 20-30 yrs time? How far back does their video library go?

I don't think anyone really thinks these channels hold any credibility at all these days - the only possible channel I would say is Vintage TV in my mind.

Closures will happen anyway - they may as well merge most of them anyway as the channels ain't that much different to the next one!

I wouldn't even start classing any of these channels into "lifestyle" or put them in that section as those very channels themselves are basically the same these days - more about reality tat than anything else! Its like asking why is Discovery/History at times looks more like MTV whilst you may get the Travel Channel looking more like the "old" Discovery it baffles me that all these channels are going down as a general "entertainment" route - we got too much already we don't need more clogging up of the channels

I don't have any of the CSC branded channels can't comment there - but I would of thought since Sony took over they would improve it - seems not

When Spike TV launches, instead of keeping VIVA running on Sky/Cable i'd love them to bring back VH1 Classic.

MTV in the UK no longer has an outlet for 'older' (pre-1990) videos. VH1 plays a very limited selection in its daily Power Ballads charts, but that's all. The version of VH1 Classic available in mainland Europe is excellent.

MTV Classic could continue with more recent pop classics from the 00s, which is largely what they do now.

Is it? The last I heard they'd started playing music from the 00s and had largely dropped anything from the 60s and 70s and reduced the amount of 80s music.

Do they just play the obvious hits of the day or are there some surprises on there?

If there's now a London based MTV channel that can be described as excellent, then I'm glad standards have improved!

To be honest, i haven't seen it for a while but last time I remember seeing videos like 'REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You' and 'Whitesnake - Is This Love'. They're the type of videos which have little or no chance of appearing on MTV's UK channels now.

I'll definitely have another look and see if VH1 Classic Europe has gone downhill. I hope not!

The only time I've seen it was about 10 years ago when the UK version broke down at Christmas and they switched to the European feed for a few days. I remember it being much better compared with ours back then, partly because there were no adverts, but mainly because they played videos that we never saw on our version.

The graphics set they use is pretty ancient. Apart from moving the logo and the song title bar about 5 years ago I don't think much has changed visually since 2004.

Surprised VH1 Classic Europe hasn't changed to MTV Classic Europe yet.

Heck I remember when I visited Sweden in 2008 - they had VH1 Europe (I believe) from what I saw looked a better channel but have been told that in last few years on Swedish "freeview" that they no longer carry VH1 its basically MTV (have relatives there and they hardly watch it) , shows you though how they can aim channels to say a "younger" generation (I know not all young people like music of today and prefer classics) that they think they are on a "win/win" situation when they are clearly alienating a demographic that they wish to no longer cater for - but of course the usual excuse is down to change in viewers taste - no its not! You lot basically want rid of a group of people and start aiming channels to a different generation!

I admit I watched MTV til I think was 2006 then I knew I had to go to VH1 as MTV's content was more about being a "jackass" and "tom green" whilst VH1 was more of a classic channel playing songs/#1's from the mid 70's to 00's these days its pointless!

Well it remains to be seen what purpose VIVA will serve after it leaves Freeview. Maybe to add back later or for Sky Freesat as I believe it's FTV?

Thanks for the playlist. That's not bad, at least European viewers can still see a better variety of classic videos. I've just tuned into VH1 Classic European and 'Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory' is on.

Some MTV listings for Christmas have appeared on DigiGuide, and i'm glad to see 80s music returns to MTV Classic on Boxing Day. Top 40 80s Power Ballads is, unfortunately, included!

The listings also show no Teleshopping on Christmas day morning, as usual.

I don't know who he is. Is he another reality TV show "star"? Is he going in the jungle tonight? Anyway yesterday was a disaster. My fave lecturer went and did a different timeslot at the open day and no potential students turned up. We were all bored I didn't get to bond with my lecturer at all I went to her office this morning and let her know and I had a good chat with her about it and I also wanted to ask her something about her Equality Law module. She was nice as usual She also told me she doesn't have psychic powers Then I met her an hour later and she smiled and said hi. I hate to admit it, but I think she looks cute when she smiles Maybe I need to go home and put on the TV. Any music channels showing Britney at the moment or is it all wall-to-wall Christmas?

Does this VH1 play other Queen songs regularly? ie Invincible Man/Break Through as VH1 UK I seem to always see "Bohemian Rhapsody"
