I like the way Bliss plays all the festive classics in run up to Christmas Day.
They do have a big selection compared to some - Bauer and Heart for example.

In other words really MTV/Viacom/Bauer are more than happy to alienate a generation out of these channels? (I get the point of times change blah blah) but come on - its like they are afraid to play certain songs too (which they use to play back in 90's) so what gives why play the "safe" card?
I'm thinking they think it's pointless as most people who watch the channels are under 25, in their eyes.

I don't know if she would be happy with that What would the viewers at home think? Hey, what would DS'ers think? Actually I hadn't heard of him before I'm A Celebrity, but I don't pay a lot of attention to 'zelebs' anyway No we only have end of exams parties in the SU bar and as I'm not doing exams this year (doing a Masters and we have essays instead) I mightn't be attending. If we had a Christmas ball then maybe I would have put some mistletoe up, but I don't know if she would appreciate it If one of her colleagues found out she could be sacked and she's a labour law expert so she knows how to claim unfair dismissal and all that stuff
Depends on whether she has a day picture or one of the night ones

No, I had to ask on here who he was a while back. Seems hungry for the fame and CSC are happy to give it to him.

Nothing to worry about then. You could do it then and she'll be fine. Maybe she can redo the Right Said Fred video - I'm Too Sexy?

Now, The Vault are a little annoying. Not only did they play a Girls Aloud song in the middle of a Britney programme earlier to pee off one of my rascals but they keep cutting songs short by about a second or two so the artists don't finish they vocals!

Yes, that is what I notice. They have a strong catalogue with a mix of the more obvious hits like Band Aid, The Pogues ft Kirsty McColl, Wham, Bing Crosby etc. But also the more obscure hits which is refreshing.

Wow really?? small minded people this lot really are .... 4Music - "where are they now" can't stand that voiceover guy (comes across as patronising)
played:

David Snedden
Blazin Squad - Crossroads
Samantha Mumba
Daphne and Celeste (well these were highlighted at start of programme)
and possibly more, I changed channel as David Snedden started - programme was basically who they were and what they doing now ie David Snedden works with a company that writes songs for other artists ie Olly Murs

as for alienating viewers - well aren't they really shooting themselves in the foot on that one? If your aiming ALL your channels to ONE demographic then your going to lose out are they not? Maybe this is where I see VIntage has an advantage its not afraid to play songs be known or obscure and attracts both young and old viewers but I presume Bauer/Viacom forget that of course

I couldn't tell you that now I just thought of something - what would her colleagues and students think? Maybe I should keep things friendly but professional. I wouldn't dare touch her in case the rumour mill starts up again. I've been tempted to hold hands with her a couple of times but I wouldn't do it in case I was caught. Haha that might be an idea but I wouldn't put it online in case her students and colleagues saw it She's probably really busy at the moment with exam time coming up.

Oh he sounds like one of those types I can't stand those kinda of zelebs! They come across as desperate to me. Well that was a bit mean! Why play a Girls Aloud song in the middle of a Britney programme? Were your kids fuming? I bet that lecturer of mine is a GA fan and she probably told them to play that song to annoy Britney fans. You never know I always thought music channels should play the full songs, not parts of them.

I see VH1 has a "christmas" look - the VH1 is in red with a misletoe and in the Christmas Quiz the song/titles were christmassy

So I take it they can only afford giving VH1 some investment is at Christmas Good grief seems more like they might as well make more of an effort in actually improving the channel other than once a year

I still can't get over how bad VH1's new look is!! Nice small DOG then oversized 'programme' / 'theme' graphics sitting there too. They do say you can't polish turd...

The font they use on their song titles looks cheap , arial like , could they have not used Century Gothic instead , I remember The Hits 2006-2008 graphics used that font on theirs and it looked very nice.

Not digging the oversized programme display either not there's any need for that to be there anyway because we have the EPG to tell us what the current show is.

It's nice that they've made an effort with the DOG, but everything else is unchanged. In previous years they also had special Christmas idents and changed the default song titles.

This was a good Christmas ident: http://vimeo.com/10154081

Did VH1 UK actually air that ident (in your link) ? I rarely remember seeing that!

I agree the DOG is fine but I will agree with people mentioning VH1's font style and programming style

I don't like its programming title style - its like its competing against MTV on making things "big" (The DOG is small I'll agree on that)

The main problem with VH1 is it seems like its more in control of the MTV muppets than it is of it being its own identity - everything MTV why no advertising for its own programming? They seem keen on getting Channel 5 more out there with MTV but VH1 does not get a look in - so what gives? VH1 looks more like an MTV Hits 2 but hardly surprising there

Its kind of the same look on the MTV channels really - with the "oversized" programming info - but lets remember all their channels revolve around mostly MTV these days (and Channel 5) so we shouldn't be that surprised its Viacom/MTV UK we speak of

I will agree with you on the font they use - I don't like it that much, yet look at MTV titles/songs to me its too blocky (not sure of font), I am still not keen on the "roller" they use to bring up/fade in songs - it looks like its more spinning "off the wheel" than being on it

I wonder what VH1 Classic would have looked like if it had not been rebranded an MTV channel?

Most likely the graphics on VH1 Classic UK would have been the same as VH1 Classic European is still using the old set , However I would think they would have tweaked the graphics to 16:9 whilst pillar-boxing older videos.

Yes, I think they aired it from about 2007-2010. I don't remember seeing it for the last few years.

Also, there are listings for VH1 for the first week of January on DigiGuide now.

It's exactly the same stuff they've been showing all this year. Sam Bailey's Power of Love, Top 50 Power Ballads, Pink, Adele, Beyonce, Mariah Carey charts... nothing new at all. Vh1 seems to be the channel for love, ballads and female singers now.

Planet Pop reminds me of Bubble Hits. However Bubble Hits was quite catchy Planet Pop is not.

Surprised the closures have not come from the larger networks as they replicate the same music more often.

A top story on 4music - Cheryl unfollows Nadine on Twitter.

Erm.....how much are people being paid for this? There is war in Syria, Iraq and Ukraine, people starving in our own country yet two former girl group members have a row on Twitter is important? Wrong.

I remember Bubble Hits and I used to watch it a lot. The one music channel I really miss though is The Hits. They used to play a great variety of music! I watched it a fair bit back in 2007 (in between CNBCwatching )

I agree with your second paragraph completely - but for that as a headline on 4Music says it all really - how is that relevant anyway? (its OK in couple days time they will say they made up) I wouldn't be at all suprised if there is money been thrown at these channels in the background

I'm sure there has to be a hidden "tagline" for VH1 - I am sure its like this.....

VH1 in 2015 - more of the same stuff as we played in 2014 (no real programming, however more bombardment of MTV/CH5 and also our "teleshopping" service which will appear on all channels after 2am!! Yes 2am!! - happy 2015!)

Some really bad ones, but at least they are playing them.

Not seen Christmas My Arse this year

At least they went into the archive. Usually they'd play NSync and Destinys Child and say 'where are they now'? just to get Justin and Beyonce in another show.

I don't know why they all play the same music. At least Heat plays some 00's stuff I suppose.

I couldn't tell you that now I just thought of something - what would her colleagues and students think? Maybe I should keep things friendly but professional. Your life could be a story for Geordie Shore or The Valleys!

Not seen any more of the Celebrity Jungle to know if he's an idiot or not.

Mistake in the Britney programme I suppose. They weren't impressed, but not the end of the world.

Channels seem to cut starts and finishes off songs these days. Annoying.

AKA went all mainstream and Planet Pop is just the same as any other pop channel only with a fixation for Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

The app is terrible - 5 Seconds Of Summer, 1d, Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande on repeat.

The same as MTV Classic I imagine. They seem to content share all day at the moment anyway, just same programmes, different times.
