4Music had a 90s countdown a few weeks ago was alright except for that dodgy Vanilla - No way no way track
That was a track like Swagger Jagger - so unbearably bad it's good!

I'm thinking here that Bauer should ditch Smash Hits since its the same as The Box could pave way for Kisstory TV - Classic R&B and Dance channel ?

Kiss is more Nu Skool these days.

Bauer could do with a dance channel. Smash hits is terrible these days, so it's a good idea.

Deffo...but a PROPER dance channel not Nicki Minaj.

4music later...60 biggest selling songs of the decade so far. 2010s are the drone age but why do one for a decade that is two and a bit years?

Is the global version of MTV Live still promoting "MTVLIVEHD.COM" on screen? It's still on the UK version even though that website has been down for months (and before that, was geoblocked in the UK). I'm surprised no one at MTV has noticed that they're advertising a dead website.

MTV's UK website still has no schedules or info for MTV Live, but oddly they've started listing BET: http://www.mtv.co.uk/tv-guide#bet

MTV LIve has also dropped the Nickelodeon programmes on Saturday/Sunday morning, which were only shown in the UK.

I have been mentioning that for ages regarding MTVLIVE scheduling and the site (irony of it is MTV LIVE is on MTV UK site but is all too buggery not even touched!) hmm MTV UK time for you to pull MTVLIVEHD.COM from your MTV LIVE DOG - falsely advertising a site that does not EXIST

I was wondering regarding Nick HD programming so you have answered that one for me. Seems like MTV Live HDUK has became a channel mostly "pop" based (Tweedy is never off and Bieber been on there too! ) and will on the odd occasion have "rock am ring"

Nick HD on MTV Live/MTVNHD: I thought that was broadcast to from Poland and not UK, oh well seems like MTV UK is dismantling MTV Live now how long before "teleshopping" will magically appear on there??

Yes, Clubland minus Minaj etc

They'll do anything to promote recent music and these channels are obsessed with sales, most of which were not bought by the public anyway, but by pro downloaders and alot of the sales are 'sold to retail'.

What have they replaced them with....don't tell me....Katy Perry...LIVE.

MTV UK have already dismantled it. Same old every day. Teleshopping won't be far away.

Just seen an advert saying that Freeview Channel 18 has 4music, Kiss, Magic and Kerrang on red button? Or did I mis-hear?

Yep it's available via an internet-enabled Freeview box. That rules me out

I'm sick of these sales charts. No wonder our chart is very static, especially as songs NEVER die. I would rather go back to 2004-2005, where songs disappeared after a few weeks never to be heard again.

Yeah not kidding this was one channel I admit I never watched as I took it as a "rock" channel so avoided it, but I was surprised when Nick HD was on - but as noted since UK control, dismantle Nick from it, and have "live" programming from the likes of Tweedy Cole, Bieber, Tulisa and more, so there goes MTV Live's "edgy" feel to a now "watered" version - yep teleshopping will be around the corner , they already barrage that channel with the MTV "valleys" etc ads .... enough already (and who cares!)

Surely people with internet will just for that option than internet through TV?

They play lots of live music - sadly it's the same programs over and over again. They also having annoying VJ's - Daniel inparticular annoys me.

That is true but the LIVE music I seem to spot are the ones given are REPEATED if not weekly its fortnightly its like MTV LIVE HD has gone "crap pop" with its live stuff (I admit I ain't into rock) but I would rather see LIVE rock on there than the squeaky voice of the Bieber and well that mimer of the Tweedy - MTV LIVE HD is just an embarassment as it once was, if this the way they have went well why not go back further and show oh I don't know Madonna (about 98-99) than the crap they have filling the air

Why have Magic been playing urban rubbish (Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, Eminem) all evening? It's meant to be a slushy love/classic hits channel but as usual they beginning to show the other rubbish that the Bauer network like showing

Doesn't sunrise me one bit the sheer laziness of music TV these days is astonishing the people who run them are soo narrow minded about music they stick the same boring artists on every channel , music TV no longer has its originality anymore hence why many viewers have now deserted it for on demand services , i must say though these last few months ive been using Spotify alot discovered over hundreds of artists i never knew before.

All music channels are the crappiest crap in the entire gamut of crapness. It's in their manifestos.

There's not a decent music channel on Sky at present that's a fact.

Networks like Bauer won't even touch pop music that's been out over a year.

They must have a very limited playlist at there HQ. Music channels use to like to use there archives now but I honestly believe in the high tech computer world they just delete videos now. If I'm not mistaken did The Box not use to off a different system to what channels have today?

I've no idea how Bauer operate but MTV certainly don't. It's true they may never be played again (at least in the UK) but they're archived anyway.

Indeed the MTV library in London will hold videos which have never been shown here in the UK, including new releases which would have once found a place on one of the alternative programmes which no longer exist.

I think music TV is dying. The channels are now nothing but space fillers and every channel is SO similar you know what to expect. What next Kerrang playing Dozy Rascal? You know its gonna happen.

As mentioned, the way Bauer operate music was invented in 2010. This is why have the most stale chart in the world. I know 02-07 were low sale periods but at least there was something for everyone. I hate seeing the same old crap come back.

Babestation and their ilk serve a better purpose than a music channel....even those dodgy African channels!

Bauer going FTA, Massive R&B closing and Scuzz moving are all signs music tv is failing and the broadcasters are getting desperate.

Indeed. It shows that music TV is dying. Youtube and Spotify offer unlimited choice, music channels are just puppets to big labels.

OFCOM need to move on and allow public choice. The ones abusing it where those with the money anyway so why should the rest of us pay?

The Dance channels have suffered a loss of identity was only flicking to MTV Dance earlier this morning and thought if the channel didn't have the logo on screen i'd assume it was MTV Base instead with the low airplay of actual dance music on MTV Dance.

How many music channels have come and gone over the years ?
See Wikipedia for Defunct UKTV Channels.

I think that was the chart of Biggest selling boys and girls of 21st century?

A chart that came out 18 months/2 years ago, so is now way out of date.

Well, Magic do and Heat sometimes do and Kiss, but rarely the latter two and it depends what you call pop. Box, 4Music, Smash Hits barely do and when they do, it's the same artists - Rihanna, Beyonce, Olly Murs etc etc.....poor show from them all.

As you mentioned Sylvester2007 its the same faces over and over.

Heat TV is the biggest waste of space ever. Do we care about celeb bed-hopping antics? What next an insight in the vulva of Tulisa?
