LOL .... I guess someone forgot to check their playout before broadcast but of course I forgot no one does these days!

Its an upbeat song I will say that but it ain't a love song! I wonder if the song was meant to be one of the other Bruno Mars songs instead?

Was it design your own MTV Channel?

It's on Clubland too.

I really wish they wouldn't put Ronson and his unoriginality onto Clubland - save it for Smash Hits and MTV Hits.

Anybody surprised R&B channels are not closing? The music has quickly gone out of fashion and Id say dance and indie are more popular in the charts today.

There's no R&B specific channels but the likes of Kiss, MTV Base, Flava and AKA are all Urban channels so I don't see why they would close and R&B has only 'gone out of fashion' in your head.

Check the itunes chart. Some of the tracks have been out for months. R&B is hardly popular as it was a few years back.

As I said in my previous post, there are no R&B specific channels. The channels I mentioned are probably not going to close down just because R&B isn't popular at the moment because they play dance, hip hop, pop etc.

Different genres are liked by different people but sometimes a certain genre can be more popular than other genres for a certain period of time.

Your beloved NME and Q closed down becuase they weren't getting enough viewers. A proper Indie music fan would probably discover real indie (not the watered down shit like Ed Sheeran etc) on YouTube or Soundcloud so there isn't much demand for an Indie only music channel.

You do realise R&B artists ie Chris Brown, Jason Derulo you could throw in that Nicki friggin Minaj these days have jumped the "dance" trend recently hence why R&B may not be popular but then again I can and hope to see real R&B back on the scene as this crossover dance has passed its sell by date, I for one am tired of it now as music these days just sound the same and there is nothing out there thats different.

Well actually there is one artist that I am away to download from Shaun Escoffrey (his latest songs are songs I can listen too) but I doubt he gets played on the likes of VH1 and MTV (as far as I seen) but I guess Youtube would be my best on that one! As well as that he is at least getting some decent play on BBC Radio 2 - makes you wonder if "music channels" these days look for real talent or just the "plastic" look?

There is nothing much exciting about the music channels anymore , they all revert to showing the same garbage tunes over and over again which makes them so boring it's no wonder why I no longer watch them , only left my post here because i just flicked through them a few minutes ago just to express my disappointment.

4Music makes me laugh tomorrow - the 100th Big Top 20 showing of the week....shown tomorrow at 6pm, when the chart will be out of date at that point! Saying that, it seems to be the same few songs non stop on there.

I agree about R and B - I feel for the acts who are pure R and B such as Frank Ocean who are lost in the mix of a few chancers wanting to cross-over to sell a few singles. 2010s is the decade music really did "sell out" - halfway through, we're on course to be the worst decade ever.

The route of all evil, is the record labels and the artists themselves. It's all about money. The reason why our charts are "static" is due to record labels throwing huge amounts of money to radio stations to play the same few songs. Streaming I believe is a way of corruption I feel by merging it into the singles chart.

If you think Music TV is bad, radio is worse. If I hear the 12 month old song "Rather Be" once more, I will scream!!! Hated it first time, hate it now.

31 channels I think and sometimes it's hard to find one with anything decent on. You do get some good programmes but I guess it depends on taste. If you like the chosen dozen artists at the time, you could have programmes all day.

UK Hot 40 etc are played so many times it's ridiculous.

2010's are a terrible era for music. Every era has shocking songs, but this decade appears to be the worst.

Never agreed with streaming. It's not regulated and can easily be corrupted. Downloads were the beginning to an end of the charts as we knew them as manipulation was greater than CD sales. Downloads are good to a point but for 'official' it's all become a sham. It's all about money, sales etc which sell concerts and merchandise etc. There are no musicians anymore, just money making machines and cash cows.

Not a complaint but good god something actually decent - they highlighted "garage" music from 90's-00s pity that MTV Dance does not play some garage on the channel (they use too)

Songs/Artists I remember being played:
Y-Tribe
DJ Luck, MC Neat ft JJ - Masterblaster 2000

but when I switched between channels it seemed to me MTV Base won hands down for me musically as I like a bit of garage in between my R&B dance music yet I hardly see some of these songs been played but saying that a couple weeks ago Kiss played Wookie - Battle, Oxide and Neutrino - Casualty as well as So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds

Finally someone noticing that Base has improved lately, with all those 2-hour UK garage slots, where they seem to be digging pretty deep in the vaults, compared to their usual standards at least. Not to mention that the channel's playlist seems to be getting more and more club-friendly, with a bunch of cool tunes that MTV Dance won't play ('cause if it ain't Avicii, they won't touch it).

Anyway, good to read some constructive comments about music channels as well every now and again on this thread, instead of just pointless rants about frickin' Teleshopping, or other completely off-topic private garbage.

Don't watch MTV Base. I did when the likes of Mann were about (what happened to him.....and Iyaz?) but MTV Dance have started playing some 00's stuff of late. They still play a lot of the new age dance stuff but they seem to be getting away from Urban Dance which is a good thing.

Maybe MTV are waking up but usually they (all channels) do these sorts of things for a small period of time and then revert back to type.

MTV Classic has a day of 80s music on Saturday 4th April. Unfortunately it's the same old themed charts (Power ballads, number ones..) but it's good to see them venturing in to the 80s again.

But why is it they seem to put this sort of music on "late" why not play some during the daytime slot then air again later? But I will give credit to MTV Base at least doing something than the same old day day in day out

I think overall the MTV "themed" channels were good up to 2009 but they basically killed them off within this half decade so far. I just think the channels especially MTV Base and Dance should be basically dance music (all types) MTV Base (all types) of R&B Hip Hop none of this pop crap in the middle of it - its what is killing these channels as well as their playlists make a mockery of what they were ie get rid of the bieber/cheryl type crap on these channels. The Urban Dance scene died couple years ago in my books but these channels seem to be stuck in it still, I do hope MTV is waking up but I doubt it - give it time they will probably be a chart on Garage with a narrator telling the viewers what were they thinking (again they will slag off music from the 00's)

It is good but I imagine as it's Easter Weekend themed charts will be everywhere. I suspect CS Dance will have In The Mix all weekend, Smash Hits and Heat will have top 200's and Clubland will have lots of charts including most selected via the app of 2015 so far etc etc

All channels seem to do it, MTV Dance when they had Club X, The Box used to show new releases from more obscure artists Midnight - 2am ish and so on...

I imagine they think less viewers are watching so less reason to show the bigger artists or they have to play other things some time, so stick it out of the way at night where most people won't care.

Unfortunately they'll probably have the charts they have already played over on VH1 which is another channel lost in a timewarp. I think MTV UK needs to have a proper look at their "music" channels and see if they can make changes to it - or why not ask their viewers to do a survey on what they would like to see appear on their channels but then again I doubt they would since we all seem we must have to go to MTV/Channel 5 these days

Also I think their (channel of choice) news seriously needs to drop the pic/caption "competition" themed style - its an embarassment to watch that to appear at the end of the bulletin and I can't take it these days has their news bulletins ran by a circus if so they need fired out of a cannon! - MTV dump this silliness and get real with your news

I remember Club X (never watched it) but the late slots is ridiculous - they do realise they can vary the playlists during the day or is it just basically we care about music of now during the day and music of yesteryear late at night? Its the same when they put on different music sometimes at the weekend - why so special to put it on at weekend? Its seems more as if they think the viewers don't really know their music but I wonder if they played more during the day viewers would probably go "aint seen that in years"

It was like that with me a few weeks ago when MTV Dance played Gusto "Discos Revenge" (90's original) had not seen that in years stuck on late at night but you probably bet they will play the more recent one few years back by Freemasons on during the day than that one - baffling really

MTV has certainly fallen into the Bauer trap. I remember MTV Hits was great!

Can't speak about Base, but Dance plays the same music all day and all night. They need to mix it up. I can't tell most of these new songs from the next one to be honest.

Dance slag off the 00's with their Dance Anthems voiceovers (Phil Clifton?). In a few years they'll slag off now. It's not a personal thing against the 00's, they just slag off old music, unless it's one of their chosen few.

Yes, their was nothing about it that said 'you can see why it's played at night' as it was just different music, well some of it. They chucked in the usual suspects too.

Weekends they are just lazy. I imagine less staff and so they can put things on rotate.

Like Gusto's Revenge, Toca's Miracle is one they mess up. Heart the worst when they on Time Tunnel 2000 and they play the 2008 version.
