Who owns Paramount Channel?, Whats really the difference between Paramount Channel and Comedy Central and why would it launch in the UK?, Was that nit the previous name of CC?, also what programs would it show that arnt seen on other channels?
According to Wiki it seems Viacom owns "Paramount Channel/Comedy" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comedy_...and_Ireland%29

If they launched the channel I wouldn't mind seeing classic comedy once more ie Married With Children - yet I thought the whole point of Comedy Central Extra was to be more of a classic channel but thats turned into duplicate Comedy Central channel! Again is it just laziness with this lot at Viacom that they can't renew rights on older shows or something?

MTV Classic are playing Kylie - Shocked, right now. haven't seen that for ages. Maybe i'm tuning in at just the right time.

Hoping when Viva go all music they think outside the box a little.
What Kylie song did they play - was it one of her usual hits or did they dig deeper?

VIVA - looking at the guide on Virgin Media I wouldn't hold your breath .... looked through for the next week its just turning into more of a MTV Music/Hits channel , why the heck they are changing it really over the sake of Spike TV UK is beyond a mystery to me they may as well have closed VIVA and rebooted it as Spike instead, rather than this leave Freeview malarky and the channel continues "as normal" on Cable/Sky but with music 18/7/365 days .... I do hope as many posters say it'll get a revamp but then lets look at Viacom in general - how long did it take them to revamp VH1 with the new logo/graphics (whilst publically advertising the new look on site - 6 months), plus how many of the same music channels do we really need now - just close half of them down and merge them its that simple really? Or does income matter more?

I see little point for VIVA's continuation it ought to be shut down if it's not going to be any different to the music channels we already have which still continue to show the same dull safe tunes to death. VIVA as it is now won't last !

Well it remains Viacoms only FTV music channel so they may stick around for Freesat?

Looks like VIVA may stick around on Freeview all be it early hours:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2064538

Must plan on readding it later but not at the cost of any C5 +1's. Be good news if it does return as a music channel.

Comedy Central used to be Paramount Comedy. I remember it being an evening channel sharing time with Nickelodeon - or was that just my cable provider (at the time NTL Ireland)?

Well, according to the MTV ads they need a new housemate. Maybe you instead? Are you a secret Geordie?
No, I've never even been to Newcastle! Furthest North I've been is Leeds. I wouldn't go on a show like that I'm off to see my lecturer in a while.

The thing that gets me is this - the channel started off as part music/part enntertainment and with the launch of Spike its suddenly becoming a near full time music channel - why the abandonment of their entertainment programmes - were the shows they put on getting decent ratings or has viewers basically deserting the channel?

Question I have is where is the likes of "that 70's show" (which no channel has ever completed the show til the end I believe Netflix has the 8 seasons now) "my wife and kids" etc where are they going now? Or are these now programmes to expect on MTV soon? Might as well throw them on VH1 to give the channel a bit of life to it

I think Vintage tv are missing a trick here not being on Freeview properly they would have the market cornered.

I remember VH1 showing That 70s Show in 2008, just before they stopped showing real programmes.

Any of the FTA music channels are missing a trick not getting some Freeview capacity atleast in the daytime hours where they get better viewing figures. They could get some audience share with Viacom disappearing to the late hours.

Chart Show TV would be decent enough. I believe Capital FM TV was on Manchester's local tv? Not sure if it still is.

If I remember correctly VH1 had then put on there not long before "trouble" closed down a year or 2 before? (correction 2009 "trouble" closed), VH1/Viacom must have bought rights as the previous channel was going ... as I digress, but did it then not move from VH1 to MTV for a bit as well and then basically dropped to be moved over to VIVA? (I can't remember it airing on Comedy Central it may have did under Paramount Comedy that I am unsure of)

Still it shows you though what life VH1 does have these days compared to its sister MTV

Channel 5 is now showing Catfish and Jackass on there channels, I am not sure about the others. The 70s Show and My Wife and Kids could fit on 5* if they drop three hours of teleshopping. That or Channel 5 in the early hours/daytime.

Even i'll add this Channel 5 also broadcasted "that 70's show" couple years ago - but I think they ran the first 2 seasons then again dropped it (was on late night between 11pm-1am as far as I remember)

I caught Jackass on Channel 5 couple nights ago - it looks odd seeing that on there ... wasn't that originally shown on Channel 4 as well?

I forgot about 5* that programming could move over there - but I rarely watch it

VIVA was laughable today - The One Direction Quiz --- really? You lot are still plugging this lot?

Sinead O'Connor? Was it a class about religion?

VH1 just played Percy Sledge!

1D? They still around?

No one has watched VIVA since it went off Freeview.
Had a programme on earlier - Before and After the stylist. Played some 80's/90's/00's and 10's.

VIVA is much better now it's music only. It's great to be able to put it on in the evenings and find them playing music. Yes, it's like all the other music channels, but it's useful if you don't subscribe to Sky or have Freesat as it shows MTV music programming. I hope we see VIVA adopt the European logo and graphics soon as the current branding is very stale and needs a refresh.

I haven't watched it since its went "music" only --- VIVA will fall the same way as VH1 but it'll just be used more of a commercial vehicle to advertise MTV/Channel 5 Spike programming now .... it'll be one of those channels that have no life to them and would be better gone if I am honest

VH1 played Percy Sledge - so I presume they knew who the guy was .... I know he recently passed away (I will guess thats the only reason he was played and I doubt we will see him again)

1D - according to VIVA they must be

VIVA - VIVA played 80's music?? From a channel that I rarely seen playing it ... I would expect VH1 to make more of an attempt than VIVA but i'll guess that will be the new fix to go for 80's music --- clock is ticking I wonder how long VH1 will last?

Think this taking off Spike TV for two hours just to keep VIVA on Freeview will end in a month, That is just fake move to get Spike on 31 and 5USA on Freeview 21.

I see little in point having VIVA for 2 hours only on freeview - seems like to me as if Viacom are giving up on music or be it general entertainment and Bauer have won on that sadly. Basically on Freeview the viewers now have ONE channel for music (unless your box is connected to internet then I guess depends) its like really Freeview is made up of general entertainment channels - music has well and truly gone

I am lucky I can see VIVA broadcasting as usual on VM but on Freeview its just an embarassment as for Spike in place I have only found one programme I may like/tune into and thats "lip sync battle" but I can guess that show will either end up being on MTV (in general or the MTV sister stations ie MTV Base/Dance)

I still on the other hand what is the real motive as to VIVA all of a sudden back to playing music throughout the day ie 7 days a week with little programming? Yet before Spike launched it was music on from 9am to say 3pm (or even before for other programming from MTV ie Teen Mom, Geordie Shore and not so MTV ie That 70's Show with films by night) was the last few weeks the programmes they aired not getting viewers? (I rather be proved wrong on that!) but its just weird the change
