I still on the other hand what is the real motive as to VIVA all of a sudden back to playing music throughout the day ie 7 days a week with little programming? Yet before Spike launched it was music on from 9am to say 3pm (or even before for other programming from MTV ie Teen Mom, Geordie Shore and not so MTV ie That 70's Show with films by night) was the last few weeks the programmes they aired not getting viewers? (I rather be proved wrong on that!) but its just weird the change

Does 4Music only have 25 songs - sick of seeing that Taylor Swift on there.
I do agree it is corrupt with streaming involved - should be sales only. |

I believe the idea was that some of the programming from VIVA was supposed to be moving to 5*, but I'm yet to see that or anything of such in the schedules, although it's still early days. It doesn't bother me as I never watched anything on VIVA and I'm glad it's now music only, but can imagine the loss of those programmes will bother some people.

I hope it does as VIVA appealed to a lot of young people (mainly university students)

VIVA is much better now it's music only. It's great to be able to put it on in the evenings and find them playing music. Yes, it's like all the other music channels, but it's useful if you don't subscribe to Sky or have Freesat as it shows MTV music programming. I hope we see VIVA adopt the European logo and graphics soon as the current branding is very stale and needs a refresh.

VH1 played Percy Sledge - so I presume they knew who the guy was .... I know he recently passed away (I will guess thats the only reason he was played and I doubt we will see him again)
1D - according to VIVA they must be ![]() VIVA - VIVA played 80's music?? From a channel that I rarely seen playing it ... I would expect VH1 to make more of an attempt than VIVA but i'll guess that will be the new fix to go for 80's music --- clock is ticking I wonder how long VH1 will last? A couple of days ago. Maybe that's why they added him. Yes, it was Kylie again - I should be so lucky. Quote:

MTV Dance have got a 90s dance weekend. Makes a change from their usual output.
I also think VH1, MTV Classic and VIVA are improving? Not perfect by a long shot but better in the evenings at least! |

Gala - Freed From Desire DJ Quicksilver - Bellissima Sash - Encore Un Fois Prodigy - Firestarter Nomad - Devoution MTV Dance 90's playlist is that predictable - why do they not play 80 or even 70's dance? They did that under the "devil" but I ain't holding out I can't speak about VIVA/VH1 in the evenings recently but if they have improved its a miracle but it won't last

4Music - "Hot Vids We Wish Were In"
So far Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Beyonce with the overrated "Single Ladies" video. FFS, I could find three better looking women in the ward I am representing in the elections to make a better video! Wanna bet Rihanna, 1D, Sam Smith to make the full house? I think the mainstream is getting more and more limited. |

Aha, Leyton Bracegirdle formerly of Chart Show TV now runs MTV Dance, so we may notice a difference. Amazingly, they're currently showing 2 Unlimited vs Culture Beat - songs like "The Real Thing" and "Got To Get It" probably haven't been shown on MTV in 20 years!

yes but all of them are popular, I love them all especially Taylor Swift, she IS hot as far as I am concerned
I think the gripe is that these channels are limited to a handful of artists. The same artists on repeat over and over and it's 90% of the channels that show the same artists. At least Clubland have a wider range of artists, even if a lot of them are not to my musical taste. MTV and Bauer are just a yawn fest most of the time but as stated above, some of MTV's channels have improved and their output is a lot better. MTV Hits, MTV Music and MTV Live are just dire though. They need to mould them into one and use the other two spaces for an 70's/80's/90's channel and a proper rock channel as MTV Rocks is kiddy rock and soft core really. |

Viva playing some 90's tracks on Sinful Sunday - Guilty Treasures too. And now an 80's track with Tiffany.
Seems Leyton Bracegirdle has the reigns here too. Only complaint is they are showing old programmes (notably Little Mix Party Girls and Pixie Lott Pop Anthems) but putting in new songs into the countdown therefore not being what Litte Mix or Pixie presented in the first place. I know the guests don't really choose the tracks and are merely presenting, but it's a bit cheeky. |

I've never liked these presenter shows on music channels as I prefer just music and if there is a presenter show then it should be live with the presenter reading out texts and tweet requests for videos between each song. I was flicking through the channels the other day and it was either Zing, BritAsia or B4U Music in the international section who had a perfect live request show where somebody phone in to request music videos and speak to the host. It's a shame none of British music channels can do that. |

I think these guests just turn up, sit down in a fancy set for 10 minutes and read out a few lines then leave.

Have not had time since earlier in week but playing 80's/90's tunes seems odd to me - I took VIVA was basically MTV Hits 2 - pity if this channels playlist is being more open they have just taken off Freeview seems a bit of a joke really

Leyton also schedules VIVA too. He's been at MTV since August 2014 according to his LinkedIn page.
Speaking of VIVA, their website is now awlfully out of date. No update of Freeview or Freesat channel numbers. It still has their VIVA shows section, even though they are music only for the time being. They did update their facebook timeline image but it took them a day to re-upload it with the correct the Virgin Media channel number, after I was the one who pointed it out. Didn't even get a thank you! |

Didn't even get a thank you! .... that show must be at least 6 years old now! (between 2007-09), good grief that is dated! I think the heads at MTV UK/Viacom don't really care what viewers think/complain - I complained about the revamp and their joking around with their "disco" themes, contacted them by the website ie MTV UK - never got a reply or even an acknowledgement but then again these networks would rather have positive comments all the time rather than take on board what viewers complain about ie make some changes with the positive comments |

The others you mention have improved too. It may not last, but we can hope. Bauer are the most predictable. I'm sure they had Timberlake and Gaga in there too. I think we have to accept music TV is aimed at kids, not just because of the music (and I appreciate not all 14-21 years olds like the same things, but how patronising these channels are. Appalling presenter but so far it appears his management has done wonders for MTV Dance. Chart Show TV may regret letting him go and keeping the limpit Stefanie Faleo. Well, we all have our likes and dislikes. I'm not really into girls like Taylor as she's too young, mentally and physically, but for the age range they are aiming it at, i'm sure she is to some, although I don't think my kids like her. I think the gripe is that these channels are limited to a handful of artists. The same artists on repeat over and over and it's 90% of the channels that show the same artists.
