I think the heads at MTV UK/Viacom don't really care what viewers think/complain - I complained about the revamp and their joking around with their "disco" themes, contacted them by the website ie MTV UK - never got a reply or even an acknowledgement but then again these networks would rather have positive comments all the time rather than take on board what viewers complain about ie make some changes with the positive comments”

Surprised they didn't do something to the VIVA website for Spike TV.

Irony of all here is the list of shows still up (with links on site)

The Hills
Suck My Pop
Slips
Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling
Scream Queens
Real World Las Vegas
Kerry Katona: Crazy In Love
South Park

Not just that just went on site and they are still displaying the old freeview number: 21! - its 74 now - so I will take it then that even with changes/launches they can't be bothered updating sites properly?

Yet if this was the BBC I can guess there would public uproar and The Daily Mail and the alikes reporting on outdated information - so how is this different for commercial broadcasters could get away with this sort of stuff and the BBC gets hounded - double standards really

Maybe because the VIVA website gets no visitors as they never said on the air, Don't even think they bother with the Twitter feed now.

It was a live music chat show or something when VIVA first launched but didn't last long.

Think most of the Viacom music channels should turn in something else and just have one music channel called MTV Music, Which will be a mixture of 60s/70s/80s/90s/00s/now music.

Does anybody know the reason why Kerrang's on-screen title thing is sideways? At first I thought something behind the scenes had gone wrong but they've stuck with it for weeks now. Cannot see the logic myself...

I was flicking through the channels the other day and it was either Zing, BritAsia or B4U Music in the international section who had a perfect live request show where somebody phone in to request music videos and speak to the host. It's a shame none of British music channels can do that.”

Yes, it's pretty much that, hence the same lines between lots of songs. It's also funny how one song that an artist thinks is the best ever is number 1 on Bauer, but number 15 on MTV in what is pretty much the same chart they are presenting.

I also don't like people talking on these channels. Unless it's Lilah Parsons on MTV. I don't ever listen to what she says but it's good she is there

I've never watched any of those Asian channels. They wouldn't do it for British ones as too many people would phone up and swear.

Is VIVA being morphed into VH1 Extra or something? Have not had time since earlier in week but playing 80's/90's tunes seems odd to me - I took VIVA was basically MTV Hits 2 - pity if this channels playlist is being more open they have just taken off Freeview seems a bit of a joke really ”

Pixie Lott's was from 2013 and I think Little Mix the same, so hence the surprise when Ellie Goulding's new one pops on, amongst others.

It appears since leaving freeview Viva plays a wider range of music.

Young teenage to just into 20's.

I think we all want a nice variety. Heat is terrible right now - Timberlake, Destiny'sChild, another song, Beyonce, N-Sync, another song, Ciara ft Timberlake, Beyonce and Shakira, another song, BEP ft Timberlake, Gaga and Beyonce etc etc. Ok their may well be 2 songs between, but the other day in one hour their were 7 combinations of Timberlake or Beyonce and this is not unusual and every day it appears they have Timberlake and Beyonce programmes - there are more than two artists, Bauer!

The good old days are gone. When they do play older music, it's usally Beyonce Top 10, Rihanna Top 10 or 1D top ten etc.

Maybe you can introduce her to The Box Plus App? Get her to request a track!

They think they are being unique. They are, but unique doesn't mean good.

VH1 used to be about showing music from all decades but it doesn't seem to be any more, which is a shame. All they seem to have now is those ridiculous countdowns.

Oh I don't know I was half an hour in the office today and she even referenced Britney

That use to be a channel called VH1 and the VH1 Classic Channel - but VH1 to the now MTV Classic was taken off Virgin Media - so playing all decades music is more the crown to Vintage TV to that of VH1

for Viacom it should be for "classics" is:
VH1 and MTV Classic - play more classics/unknowns in their playlists but VH1 is more "modern" these days I think they believe "classics" are out the window

So basically recycling countdowns once more .... they must be short on material to go back to 2013 .... i'll expect a dated Tinie Tempah countdown to turn up on KISS next

Freeview-VIVA: Does anyone find that a bit of a con? So leave Freeview to suddenly appear more variety of music as to before it was basically another enterainment channel where music was second and what was played was modern songs and nothing more?

If VIVA was playing those songs I would have tuned into that more than VH1 or is VIVA trying to find a demographic since the drop in programming?

4Music used to recycle countdowns in their early days. Originally "Katy Perry's 20 Girls you Don't Wanna Mess With" featured a mixture of 80s/90s/00s. However a few years later it popped back up again with most of the older songs replaced with newer ones. Katy's links to the older songs were (no surprises here) edited out.

Haven't watched Viva in years but agree with you. Though it's good to hear it's playing 80s/90s/00s, it would have been nice if it was doing this on Freeview prior to leaving not trying to be like a 4Music clone.

Seems to be a trend going on - ie Katy Perry - have a mix of songs from 3/4 decades repeat it later with songs originally out

As fr VIVA - I haven't watched it recently but I am surprised by the sudden move to play 80's/90's music on the channel, yet the irony of it all it still publicises MTV/Channel 5 more (again where is the channels own self promotion/cross promotion on the Viacom channels - its VH1 all over again ... shame really) - this is also hat I don't understand why be a 4MUSIC clone channel whilst on Freeview and then the move to play more variety comes out of the blue?

The only thing i'll give 4music credit for is they play Rock music every so often ... when do you ever see VIVA playing that sort of music?

They've got Sing A Long Girls on again tonight.

Did you have Britney In The Mix on?

I suspect the VIVA playing a wider range of music won't last.

They do display the album title for where each song is from too though.

I can't see VIVA lasting out as a channel , probably might see it scrapped for Spike+1 if that channel becomes a success and all the MTV music channels will go FTA or even FTV soon ?

Well, the MTV channels are are part of Sky's variety pack so I doubt they will let them go from there.

or shall we say "testing grounds" but your probably right - its flavour of the month

I just find it annoying that there is only ONE channel that displays a "year" and thats Vintage, I find it being a bad move with VH1, display it for years then suddenly drop it - VIVA/VH1 are still good for displaying album titles on their on screen graphics, the MTV ones are terrible and are out of place

MTV has a new look website: www.mtv.co.uk

The VIVA site urgently needs updating as mentioned a few days ago, as it still lists shows that haven't been on for years and Freeview channel 21.

You would think they will put Channel 5 on the footer somewhere.

It shows how quick they are to update VIVA ---(rollseyes - DS bring that icon back ) VIVA is probably will fall the same way as VH1 I reckon but shows you how quick to update MTV/Channel 5 website (launch of Spike) -- Viacom in general shouldn't be playing favourites with its range of channels -- update them all not just selected few! in saying that looking at Comedy Central and CC Extra they are a mess these days its a shame they have gone downhill as well (Comedy Central may as well be Friends Central... and as for Extra god knows!)

MTV new look site: its awful -- I see the MTV graphic is yellow and black --- will this be another revamp soon on their channels to be applied? (if so how many revamps does MTV need - seems more that channel has more money thrown at it on revamps than any other channel out there)

Not even a mention of Viva on the website, is this the beginning of the end for it?.
