The British government is as corrupt as anything. I would say we are becoming on par with Azerbaijan, Belarus and Russia with the amount of coruption going on.

The music channels are mere puppets to the labels. The record labels use their dirty money to pay the channels to promote their acts.

I agree. You need a big name punished to shake up the system.

That is odd. Unless it was Union Js XFactor performances? Saying that I did flick through and see two songs...one was Illuminati anthem "Scream and Shout" which Will.I.Am recorded on the loo and some other crap. It said it was compiled by the band and fans, but I dont believe that.

Interesting on 4music at 01.25-02.15 Video Junkie which is under the radar videos. If this is newbies why shove this on at silly o'clock? We dont want the same acts forced down our throats.
Well with all this spying going on and William Hague over defending, it sounds like they are more corrupt than ever.

Music TV is basically a form of advertising. Oh how I miss the old days.

I didn't watch the program, but I don't think they'd be allowed to show the performances? Sounds weird from what you saw.

The Box sometimes play unknowns at silly hour. Why not play them in the day?

Lol. Would need something. I am not too sure to be frank.

Todays highlights are Union J takeover on VIVA....er...they have only had one hit?
Again throwing a random act under a bus lets be honest .... They get these zelebs of the day to do "takeovers" "countdowns" ---- this is from the very same lot that ALSO had put the idiots of TOWIE to host a show ... I kid you not I think The Box did it as well I believe one of their title shows I can not remember if it was part of MTV or Box but it was called "50 Reem Anthems" (to that extent) ... and I thought Reem meant something else I give up.... why not ask Joe Public to give their OWN countdowns/requests?? (I know there is mentions on here of other channels doing it but surely MTV/Bauer need to get their fingers out and do SOMETHING!)

Well this lot will do anything to cement their power. I would not be surprised if the EU has this lot over hot coals, but we will see.

It is. Its we pay you...promote our act even if the song is shite. Gone are the days where the public had a say

I didnt see it but thats what I am guessing. Why include them in a versus when they have had ONE single to the others? Simon Cowell is another threat to the industry.

My guess is people will LIKE the unknowns over the same old acts and that is not allowed. Someone, somewhere needs a chance.

There is one: best and worst video. I saw One Direction with Kiss You on there....erm....you.praised them for the video a few months ago..so why slag them?

MTV's UK website still has no schedules or info for MTV Live, but oddly they've started listing BET: http://www.mtv.co.uk/tv-guide#bet
.. and it looks like BET is becoming closer to its MTV cousins.

BETs schedule looks different from 1st July and MTV shows start appearing. Gigs from MTV Live including Rita Ora, Dizeee Rascal, Emeli Sande and other urban artists are listed, along with Behind The Music, Storytellers etc. It looks like they're trying to make it more mainstream, the weekend 'Gospel' stuff is all being removed too (that's a good thing though!).

Maybe they're launching a UK version, as they did with MTV Live last year, instead of giving us the worldwide version with UK ads.

How can you see the listings for 1st July? I can only see this week's on the MTV site.

Well the version of BET that we get was a massive let down for me. I was hoping to see loads more music videos on it. Since is is programmed from New York I was looking forward to seeing loads of videos that you wouldn't see on MTV Base.

Didn't work out like that and I don't watch the channel.

Give it time that too will teleshopping will appear and bombardment of MTV ads telling viewers of BET to go MTV

Just remember what happened to MTV Live ..... need I say more? (luckily I don't have BET yet but the state of MTV sister stations we all know this will turn into another MTV disaster in the making! ... Expect Geordie Shore to appear next )

With MTV UK taking over BET, is the channel leaving Freesat and becoming paywall on Sky?

That will make BET a clone of the others? When I had Freesat at least BET had an identity. The channel even showed Whitney Houstons funeral live and some rare videos of her obscure singles (You Give Good Love, My Name is Not Susan and Whatulookingat). You would NEVER see MTV or even Bauer do that.

Bad move this is going to be.

BET has awful ratings, and is one of the lowest channels rated by BARB. Infact I think only "My Channnel" gets fewer viewers so I can see why they need to make changes. 106 & Park is still listed, plus reality shows like "Keyshia & Daniel" (whoever they are) and Real Hollywood Husbands. That seems to be the sort of thing they'll be focusing on from July, and some live performances/music documentaries from MTV.

From a quick look at the figures I would say AKA is the lowest rated, since it was moved to the end of the music EPG. Chart Show Dance isn't much better.

Thank you.

Not surprised the top two are the two Freeview ones.

I give credit to Vintage, Starz and a lesser point AKA...at least they have all stayed true to what they stood for. They are 100% music. Thanks to Starz and AKA I have discovered a few lesser known singers and a couple that have made the big time.

I think in my opinion with Vintage TV is they'll play some "familiar" tracks but some I would think "unknown" tracks/artists (guess you could say artists/songs VH1 should be playing in a rota but must be that scared of touching )

Agreed, though they are not afriad to mix it up once in a while at Vintage.

80's and 90's music is quite under catered for these days.

heck MTV only "caters" it if its for some "old skool" and thats possibly at weekends

MTV/Bauer have a back catalogue library that they can use or is this the sort of "shamed of these decades" that they rather wipe history of?

I'll give Vintage at least credit in what they do and personally I was not expecting the channel to be like the old style VH1 but at least it is doing something

I guess 80's music is a bit like 70's music getting ignored in the last decade. Time moves on and they don't like old music.

I would love if there was a channel which dedicated to all sorts of music. Ideally something with a larger archive and maybe even HD something more than Vintage TV.

Sky would do a great job of music tv had they still been in the music market. Look at Sky Arts it's decent.

I wouldn't mind a channel that covered even if it was say music of 60's onwards or 60's-90's ie all genres, you just got to go through the MTV lot or Bauer lot its the same old same old!

I have briefly looked at Sky Arts but I took those channels as for being for "classical" but I know sometimes they will show say the likes of "storytellers", but its the way it comes across it makes it look like those other channels are lazy and nothing more

They have gigs from Blur and Oasis on quite often which is my sort of thing since Q tv went off air.

I know they show the Isle of Wight Festivals and the alike so I guess Sky Arts has its advantages over MTV.

I was right to suspect about MTV Live and it has gone all pop ... and another channel all for "countdowns" as well

MTV Dance - official dance anthems.

Now, Cascada sold 450k of Evacuate....and it's not in there when smaller sales are. Now, either Cascada are not classed as dance by MTV or the 'Official' needs to be taken away as if they are choosing what a dance anthem is, it cannot be official as it is an opinion.

Heat are having a Pop Flashback week - it's not all flashback, it's just amongst all the usual programs and it's re-hashed charts that they and Bauer channels show all the time anyway. Money for old rope anyone?

I think its a case of pretend it never happened by MTV/Bauer.

I noticed when they have From Day 1 with their pets e.g Rihanna they miss a lot of the discography out. The songs may or may not be good or did poor but its still part of their discography. You cant pretend it never happened ffs.

Cascada are dance and if they want to wet themselves over one note pony Guetta then they are stupid.
