We do have a gay music channel for this weekend called MTV Pride but it may not be the first gay music channel. In the past we had a full time gay Flaunt before it turned into a dance music channel.
The irony in that though was that channel is only available to "sky" customers only ... I wonder what the viewing figures will be for MTV Classic (Pride) .... I still think they should have converted say VH1 for pride since they really is bug all on that channel!

How the heck did Heat play 3 songs in 30 mins?? Ofcom should be slapping them
Because they are rubbish. 7 minute adverts and love ins with certain artists. They don't play current music....well apart from Aleesha Dixon's new track as she's done a couple of programmes for them, so they are promoting.

Was Flaunt fully gay? I remember they had lots of gay presenters etc, but was it fully gay?

MTV Classic/Pride is now MTV Summer.

CSC are having a viewers voting month in July. Probably be the same rubbish as Bliss (who played Take That about 18 hours a day over the weekend) and Flava - pick from 3 pre selected songs, as opposed to a playlist or sending in random requests.

Bauer are just odd with what they play on their TV networks, their radio networks are about the same

MTV Classic - weird how many rebrands this channel goes through .. goes from Classic to Pride and then Summer (last year it was only called Summer from reading on here) - find it even more odd why "Gay Pride" is getting coverage now than it did in the past I wonder why? (again you didn't see channels like MTV/VH1 dedicating time for it back in 90's so why now?), same can be aimed at Bauer as Heat radio had coverage on Saturday (first time I heard them doing a show called Heat @ Pride)

MTV Classic is just a channel they don't overly care about. They just play with it as it suits them.

Talking of channels not cared for - Planet Pop. So lazy of late, 2x Taylor Swift days, Beyonce, Rihanna, Minaj day, Ellie Goulding day, Queens of RnB day (which was mainly Beyonce and Rihanna programmes). Put it out of it's misery. No thought goes into the channel at all.

I have to admit most of those songs listed I have never seen on MTV Dance i'll just name a few as examples:

Shapeshifters - Incredible (MTV still sticks with the other one .... Lola's Theme - no change there!)

Sash! - La Primavera
Sonique - Sky (Feels so good - default)
Ian van Dahl - Inspiration (Castles in the Sky - default)
iiO - At the End (I have never seen this vid at all - Rapture is default)
Moby feat. Debbie Harry - New York , New York (no idea - does MTV Dance still play Moby?)
DJ Sammy - Sunlight (heaven - default)
(*default - is just songs I know that MTV Dance seem to play more but chooses to avoid songs you list)
I know that your probably speaking of the playlist back in 2006 for Flaunt but I have never seen any of these ever played on MTV Dance - MTV must really limit what they play

I've seen all of those on MTV Dance (some time ago), with the exception of iiO - At The End.

Regarding the new look, new graphics are usually introduced on MTV on the 1st July at the same time as new idents. Does this mean the graphics aren't changing this year?

New idents on MTV launched on 25th June, but only on the main (non-music) channel.

Perhaps the music channels will change later in the year? The last graphics refresh for the music channels was on 1st October 2013.

I ain't see them lol .... but regardless you don't really see MTV Dance changing the songs its just sticking to songs that they know than playing lets say ... not the "big hitters" I just don't understand the logic behind it all plus to me its limiting playlisting

Here's a list of all music channels (and MTV) sorted by Weekly Reach in 000s, for week ending 28th June.

Code:
4Music 3,003
MTV 1,854
MTV Hits	957
The Box 901
Magic TV	843
Vintage TV	814
MTV Music	805
Viva 777
MTV Rocks	690
MTV Live	672
Smash Hits	666
MTV Base	662
VH-1 625
MTV Dance	605
Kiss TV 517
Kerrang!	498
heat 478
Capital TV	454
Chart Show TV	418
Planet Pop	407
NOW Music	406
Bliss 400
Channel Starz	385
Heart TV	349
The Vault	326
MTV Classic	304
Clubland TV	291
Scuzz 276
Channel AKA	265
Flava 252
ChartShowDance	238
MTV +1 34
The ChartShow channels all seem surprisingly low, and MTV Classic is also doing terribly (bring back VH1 Classic!)

Note: MTV+1 was moved to the bottom of the Entertainment section on Sky when Spike launched, which is why the ratings are so poor.

Are these ratings increases? I seem to recall the lower rated ones were much lower rated viewing figures not so long ago.

Did I see that ad right tonight? MTV asks Paris Hilton with some weird connection for it to be on MTV Live? Yep MTV Live has well and truly had it now, I presume we will be seeing a Live set from this wannabe DJ? I never thought MTV would sink lower even with their reality drivel but this has taken it to another level unfortunately downwards, the woman ain't a DJ she is only using this to buy time FFS was not long ago she had a programme on ITV and if I remember correctly even Channel 4 in UK but now MTV are giving her air its unbelievable

It's been on for a while. She once had a hit but is certainly better known for being a heiress.

Someone called Michelle Visage is also presenting a show. I have no idea who she is and don't care enough to google but it seems like they'll have anyone.

I was more surprised that the ad is aimed at "MTV Live HD" I think its safe to say that this channel is done for now -why not just put someone like her and programming to the main channel than inflicting it onto the other channels, it seems more of a mockery than what the channels stand for

50 cent files for bankruptcy recently yet MTV is about to air a programme about him getting there (the irony of it all and things MTV these days!) I wonder if it will be mentioned at end or "airbrushed" aside plus MTV has hired grimmy of radio 1 for this show

What is with 4Music and the same set of songs for their Summer Anthems? Same few songs over and over, and all 2015 bar "Happy" and Queen Bitch Beyonce. Yes I'd like to erase 2014 personally, but come on - look at the summer anthems in the 90s?!

With the speculation Channel 4 being privatised, they could tidy up the business in preparation for the broadcaster's sale. One of the C4 moves could be selling of 50% stake in The Box Plus Network. Since Channel 4 took over the former Emap channels they don't seen as recognisable, they dropped the video selections, replaced a decent channel Q by Heat, non-music shows most of the day on 4Music and the video library reduced.

They don't look premium as they were when they were owned by Emap that's why Sky dropped the channels from the pay package few years ago.

Time for Channel 4 to pull out of The Box channels, maybe Sky would buy C4's 50% stake in channel go pay again and given a premium feel again.

I notice that they dropped The Fix and other showbiz news content from 4Music and Heat.

The bottom 13 channels on that list aren't available on VM so the list is skewed. All the other channels from Heat upwards are on VM.

They just advertise their 'premium' channels. Quite why they can't put Paris Hilton on MTV away from the music, I don't know.

50 cent files for bankruptcy recently yet MTV is about to air a programme about him getting there (the irony of it all and things MTV these days!) I wonder if it will be mentioned at end or "airbrushed" aside plus MTV has hired grimmy of radio 1 for this show
Isn't his new song "Lotto" - he needs to win it.

That's Bauer for you. Magic's charts are the same Guaranteed the top 20 will have 18 of the same songs as the other charts of similar ilk and how many charts is Alesha Dixon presenting for them at the moment?

I notice that they dropped The Fix and other showbiz news content from 4Music and Heat.
Thank goodness! They've replaced it with more young so called hip presenter programmes though with the same rubbish on it.

I doubt Sky would be interested. If C4 sell up I'd expect Bauer to buy the other 50%. 4Music may become a plus one.

Sky is full of channels showing junk they just sell ad packages in channel bouquets to keep them on air.

I doubt Sky would be interested. If C4 sell up I'd expect Bauer to buy the other 50%. 4Music may become a plus one.
Yep. Sky won't buy any music channels, there is no long term future and very little money to be made from music videos on TV now. If C4 sells I expect Bauer will get the other 50% possibly with a deal which allows C4 to keep the Freeview slot.

In other news, MTV Summer changes back to MTV Classic on 3rd August. Summer must be over already,

When it returns, MTV Classic has a new evening schedule with:

Superstars @ 7
80s @ 8 (finally, 80s music is back!)
90s @ 9
Noughties @ Night

They just advertise their 'premium' channels. Quite why they can't put Paris Hilton on MTV away from the music, I don't know.

Isn't his new song "Lotto" - he needs to win it.

.
I think we have to recognise Paris Hilton as a Dance DJ (insert DS "comedic" rollseyes icon here) as for 50 Cent was more surprised that they had a documentary with "Grimmy" interviewing him the week he files for bankruptcy (supposedly) -- in other news I wonder how many viewers MTV will now lose with the inflict of "Grimmy" appearing

What is with 4Music and the same set of songs for their Summer Anthems? Same few songs over and over, and all 2015 bar "Happy" and Queen Bitch Beyonce. Yes I'd like to erase 2014 personally, but come on - look at the summer anthems in the 90s?!
Also am I to assume 4Music is another E4 channel by night? "2 broke girls" is now to appear on there, surprised "the big bang theory" ain't started on there but come on for a channel named 4Music why not at night rename it say 4Comedy or 4Reality or some crap like that its going overboard for a channel meant to be and supposedly all about "music" - maybe its just time to scrap the whole "music" genre as we all know Bauer/Viacom(MTVUK) couldn't really care less about music videos in general but are more than happy to keep repeating the same charts day in and out with little variety in them

I also do think KISS/KISS TV is dead as well, seen a Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift appear (I know they do get played) but this is a channel that has completely lost its way similar to MTV Dance - I just find it more now there is hardly anything worth watching on any of these channels par Vintage TV but to say really ONE music channel is watchable out of a subscription package its a disgrace (even if you include teleshopping) time for mergers/closures as we can't keep this going and if these channels are declining in viewers then maybe we should go back to the old layout and have the simple MTV (play music/reality shows/docs) VH1 (play music/docs) The Box (go back to viewer requests)

This jukebox thing on 4Music - I've been back from work for an hour, and I've seen that crappy Justin Beiber song three times!! Who selects this? Sad teenage girls with nothing better to do on their holiday or something even more sinister?
