As for The Box I would welcome it delving into the archives but again I doubt it will happen unfortunately”

Things are stagnant and I don't see them changing for the better. They have even more charts now - some video streaming taken from youtube etc and more celebrity charts.

Well, it's not just Magic - Box, 4music, Kiss, Smash Hits and Heat are also going to eb showing it numerous times a day - only Kerrang from their channels is not showing it.

Clubland - Stopped using app as much and the songs they play all the time were ones supposedly chosen on the app too. Listening to the app requesters or more likely, they played what they liked anyway, regardless of app requests?

Oh well, only another month or so until Blissmass

Few times a day across 6 channels as well. Embarrassing.

We did a test on Clubland last night across some devices ove their two hour requests (the next request programme wasn't working on the app).

10 songs we voted for across 3 devices - 2 plays in 2 hours
10 songs we voted for across 2 devices - 5 plays in 2 hours
10 songs we voted for on one device - all 10 were played in the first hour and 10 minutes.

It appears it's not the number of votes that count.

Other notable music channel shananigans -

CS Dance are showing some of their older In The Mixes again. Not all good though as it includes 1D and Tine Tempah etc

MTV are still shwoing numerous repeats of MTV Music Awards

Heat are sticking to current music bar 1 chart earlier which had a mix. Bring back the 00's!

Heart are showing Haloween charts already!

And....VH1 and Bliss are showing the new Delta Goodrem song (which has been number 1 in Oz) What's the betting, unless it does well over here, which is unlikely, Bauer or any other MTV channel won't touch it, preferring to show all the usual guff over and over instead.

I know! If there is budget issues, cease the channels and put the money elsewhere? I know at the moment we're mirroring a poor Eastern European nation but this is goin too far. I saw an advert for the Kardashian whores a few times.

Yes, that does sound suspect but then again you watch OFCOM will be like them like a tonne of bricks and it will be another removal of public choice.

As for the Delta Goodrem song, hit or no hit - Bauer will ignore it because she's not cool. There is only so much Bieber, Brown, Swift and 1D one can take. It's watered down pop music Bauer only care about. Bar Taylor Swift, none of these will be remembered twenty years down the line. Mainstream music is pretty rubbish let's be honest? The singles chart has died with Bieber being #1 and streaming. I give it another 2-3 years, mainstream music will become irrelevant and you'll see a demand for proper performers and musicians.

I spotted it appearing on TV Guide as follows - 4Music, The Box and Magic (not to sure on Smash Hits but I can see it on Heat though) -- I wonder if this is an experiment on their other channels to see what the ratings are, but in saying that do we really need anymore of these channels to drop music in favour of entertainment? If so then it will be time for closures thats for sure!

Not really read this thread before but noticed Heat seems to be playing much more modern 'current hits' than usual when I watched recently.

Smash Hits, The Box and 4MUSIC all have that 'current hits' area covered (and 3 channels seemed a bit excessive anyway). Seems a bit pointless having now 4 channels playing the exact same stuff. And Kiss often plays the same stuff too so you get a big overlap in the songs played.

Seems like the BAUER channels are very lazy and honestly come across as rather down-market these days - a real lack of variety and endless charts that are all exactly the same as each other with awful graphics.

I quite liked Heat as it was - played a nice mix of noughties and cheesier music that the other Bauer channels wouldn't normally play (Blue/Girls Aloud etc.) and at least stood out a little in playlist from 4MUSIC/The Box etc.

I agree in regards to Heat but why can't they either make that channel or Smash Hits different playlists than the same as the other channels? I just find it that there is a lack of Old Skool anthems (and I mean actual anthems back in the day) - It naffs me off in regards to MTV UK the lack of creativity of VH1 - it seems as after 2010 (or just after), the life got sucked out of it, with the recent revamp nothing much has really changed musically (they seem fascinated in creating countdowns that are "better than cake" , since when did VH1 scrape barrels with crap like this?)

They certainly don't need 3 channels which are in effect the same but wrapped up with different programme names and graphics.

Delta has more talent than the watered down pop you mention and without the need to whore herself to the industry. Her illness has obviously made an already likeable and down to earth girl into a very likeable, down to earth and appreciative lady.

The charts are already dead. Saw a couple of songs when flicking earlier and thought "that's still in the top 10?" Streaming has killed a dying national treasure - The Hit Parade or whatever it's called. It's not right on a Friday either.

The Vault show more Saved By The Bell's and Sabrina's too now and i've noticed S Club 7 programmes or films have been on there.

That style show on 6 channels numerous times a day is overkill though.

They all play the same songs too. Bored.

Yep, mentioned it a few times before. Heat have lost their 00's flavour and rarely go back beyond 2010 now mainly playing hits from the past 2-3 years if not current.

They had one chart the other night that had 00's music but for the first time in weeks. Even Timberlake has suffered! Not Beyonce or Swift though.

Bauer are terrible. Magic has 3 or 4 similar charts - they just swap Toxic, Hey Ya and Can't Get You Out Of My Head etc around the chart positions and hey presto! new chart.

Heat was their best offering but now they've turned it into Smash Hits 2, it's not watchable.

Planet Pop has reappeared as 'Planet' on Sky 389.

Any ideas if it's permanent?

Is the masters let be experimenting with VH1's DOG/logo on screen? I see they seem to take it off for the ads and put it back on the bumpers of MTV - so I guess the logo removal for ads is on VH1 only? Hmm pity that they could have just applied to the other channels too but I guess VH1 is always targeted these days with really no content whatsoever other than same countdowns etc but no new programming - where is the life in this channel other than planet MTV?

That seems to happen every so often. I remember it happening with the old green logo too.

Speaking of VH1, have they got rid of VH1 News? It was only MTV News with different graphics but I haven't seen it for a few months. And what happened to the dark versions of the idents like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN6ZEqnXP5k They only ever use the light ones now.

No idea but this is a first for a music channel to return, it's not really a channel worthy of being resurrected though as it's first incarnation was pointless seeing as it was and still is just another channel for more Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Nick Minaj, David Guetta, 1Direction, This is good news though because we might see some closures across the other music channels now with them stealing a few thousand viewers away from the already ailing ones.

I asked them and apparently it's a permanent return.

I agree though, it's a strange resurrection. The picture is poor and it's very repetitive. I can't imagine they had a petition demanding it's return but I suppose it's best to have it than not for the odd occasion they do something interesting.

Very odd they got rid if it for a month and brought it back though.

Me too oh well as i mentioned in my previous post , some of the music channels that are struggling will suffer even more now with this newly relaunched 'Planet' channel it will drive down Capital TV's ratings now that it's right next to it on the Sky EPG.

Sony/CSC i can see cutting at least 3 music channels in the new year. The Vault I can see becoming a 90s and 00s culture Music/entertainment channel soon , I expect some of Pop Girl's former Live action programming to appear on The Vault soon then seeing as PopGirl shut down a few day's ago , Lizzie McGuire , Zoey 101 , Two of a Kind will make their way to the channel eventually.

I get confused with it - I know its only a logo decide to either keep it on during the ads or take it off not randomly do it for no real reason - if doing the removal don't apply it to one apply to all!

VH1 News/VIVA News - basically and correctly as you say its MTV news but with "channel" branding instead - the news presenters/voiceovers weren't different either! As for the idents - what does MORE VH1 mean to us in UK? Its the same stuff on repeat - if they wanted the viewers to have MORE of VH1 then scrap the MTV bumpers for a start and invest in programming than countdowns! I do wonder what the presenters of yesteryear must be thinking the way MTV/VH1 is running - probably glad they are out of there

But thats the main problem with the UK version - even after the revamp its still stuck in the same timewarp and is basically short on ideas on what to actually put on, other than having "better than cake" countdowns, scraping barrels much?

Can we just get rid of VH1 UK and get VH1 Europe on instead? , It seems everything MTV UK touches its ran into the ground but achieving only one goal - the magic world of all things MTV

I remember a similar one on VH1 before a revamp with Sub Sub - Ain't No Love and for some odd reason the year was "2006" - maybe the controllers at MTV are trying to give some dance tracks a better year than what its original year was ... ie 2003 instead of 1993? Playing Devils Advocate on that as people will just google (I do hope people will complain about it)
