How official is the UK Airplay chart on the Bauer channels? At 20 was Oliie Murs's current song but having looked at radiomonitor's website http://ukairplaychart.com/uk_tv/ it's at number 5?!? Which chart are they following?

I think they create their own Airplay charts and call them official.

I hate the Official Charts Company countdowns on the Bauer channels. They're always the same and have been since around 2006 plus they use some really nasty graphics and a horrible voiceover man.

I dont believe they do and as for the Rihanna thing, its a desperate boyband trying to cash in on her name. Aside from Jay (curly haires one) and Nathan (the young lad) they are up their own arses. I think if the group split up tomorrow I could see the other three being that desperate for fame they would enter every celeb reality show.

Capital control the charts. Its wrong.

Someone tell Bauer Rihanna is not American. She is Barbadian and Barbados was ruled by the UK.
so then ... video has LESS relevance and featuring Take That in "twitter" language #EPICFAIL

If I was Rihanna I be naffed off using her name (I wonder if permission was asked before hand??)

and again would not surprise me if they did that as well (crap reality)

regarding "nationalites" in words of The Wanted "but who cares" MTV would say

The charts should feature artists mainstream as well as unknowns but again crap that is churning out is more unbelievable than anything else

Well as far as I know the 21st Century started about 2000 (unless there was some tracks carried through say Nov 1999 to go through?)

but your correct the 90's was part of 20th Century and NOT 21st

Yeah one of them was Sonique - Feels So Good from 1999 but was released in 1998 originally.

I would say it depends really on release date (I get your point Sonique It feels so good was originally out in 98 and re-released in 99) God knows how they compile it all

I have noticed Viva have a Fresh Music Chart...The current #1 from Robin Thicke aka misogny and advertising by numbers is in there at #16. If its made the chart its no longer fresh.

They may as well rename these "fresh" charts or whatever just to be "Viva's Music Chart", mind you with the amount of "charts" all these channels have got I wonder how many are the same tracks but swiveled about?

So possibly wasting more money on another "useless" chart then

When will these channels buck up that people want more than just Music (same songs on rota), why not interesting documentaries? (couldn't care less if it highlighted "legends" of yesteryear as "legends" of now don't exist unless you count the Bieber and 1D ), or why not change playlists and go look for hidden gems or is that the "we can't be half assed doing it" approach

You have seen one chart...you have seen them all. Its the same crap in a different order. The Friday/Saturday ones are the worst. I dont want Rita Oral, That Calvin and Ellie Goulding track to introduce my weekend. What about all these other songs out ther...oh wait We have to play it because we are told to

I still think Capital and Radio 1 are to blame. And the record companies. Whenever we get a warm spell "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz is always reduced to 59p on Itunes. Its American-fied fake trash. Surely everyone has a copy or is someone mass downloading it?

Why not a few gigs? Then again...it would Beiber/1D as they are fiiiiit.

These heat docus are a waste of space. Do we care about Harry Styles? He is not attractive at all. Do we care about showbiz goss and that they have an expert! Saddest thing is people out there are probably earning a lot more than 15k a year researching articles on the net.

Yes not really liking the new format for Greatest Hits i much prefered it when they played music from the 1990s and early to mid 2000s.

Heart is not a bad channel despite the constant playing of Maroon 5's Moves like Jagger
I don't mind them playing 80's, but like you say, a bit more 90's/00's would be nice. A bit of a variety.

I didnt know she sang on the song! Another one who gets everywhere.

I think these compilers need to research before releasing these charts. Nicki Minaj is on there...she is Trinadian! Thats like saying I am from Weston-super-mare yet I am a Brummie as I was born there and lived there until Nov 2012.

Highlights on 4music this week: Adam Levine's Secret Diaries....again. A programme about Harry Styles. What is the appeal? He is far from handsome and is only 1/5 of a boyband. Saddest thing is, they have an expert for this. Bet they are on more money than we will ever earn.
Scherzinger is an attention whore - she'll do anything if it means attention.

The researchers are clueless. On one chart, Biggest selling girls of the 90's or something, Britney's Baby One More Time didn't even make the top 100. - it's something like the 25th biggest seller of all time!

I may go off topic slightly I briefly seen their new vid seriously WTF?? (The Wanted)

I know it seems a "piss take" of some bands from 90's ie Take That and *Nsync and again wtf has that got to do with "Rihanna" and again they are PLAYED on MTV Dance ..... right then
I've changed the words for that song - She can't sing, she can't dance, IT MUST BE Rihanna.

The people who run the AATW channels used to read this forum a lot so I think they've been taking Linkinpark875's repeated posts about lack of 80's music seriously and have turned it into an (almost) 80's channel.
Which is disappointing as they could easily divide the day up. A bit more 90's and 00's around today, but mainly 80's. The first day they took control it looked great - now it's the same songs every day.

I didn't see all of the chart - I made sure I knew where the Cascada two were and then kept drifting in and out as alot of the songs aren't dance, in my eyes.

Yeah one of them was Sonique - Feels So Good from 1999 but was released in 1998 originally.
It spent three weeks at number one in 2000, so they can get away with that one

I noticed last night that VH1 has renamed its Sunday evening "programme" where they just run the normal playlist instead of a themed zone or countdown. It used to be called "Weekend Essentials".. now it's "Let Your Hair Down On A Sunday Night!" (this long title looks ridiculous on screen, under the logo). What was wrong with the old title?

I wish they would get rid of graphics full stop, but i'd imagine that title would look ridiculous on the screen.

On another note, Greatest Hits are playing 'Oldies Airplay Chart Top 20' - Britney - Slave 4 U, an S Club song, Mcfly....and One Direction.....oldie?

The Box really could do with a upgrade stuck in 4:3 as if its 1993 again when lots of the videos are widescreen and Icona Pop - I Love It is poorly zoomed in to 14:9 mode

The Box seems to have hit a new low in the viewing figures too 126,000 and FTA and now on Freesat you'd have thought they'd see a rise in their audience but it had the opposite effect on their figures .

I would like to see The Box become the themed music channel not just endless pop all day everyday leave that to Heat/Smash Hits already enough is enough !

Magic is the same but they have many older 4:3 videos so they are better to stay in that format , kerrang however needs to go widescreen too rival Scuzz has been widescreen since the beggining 10 years ago.

From what I heard about this airplay chart, and this is how the Big Top 40 is compiled; it's the airplay of channels ran by Bauer/Global. Therefore, its THEIR chart.

I found this out because there was a song that was #17 on the Big Top 40 in December. It was #53 on I-tunes, and #35 on Airplay. 53 plus 35 divide 2 DOES NOT MAKE 17!

I see Magic have very quickly cancelled "50 Biggest Selling Girls v Boys of the 21st Century" (when I looked at 12pm, it was still scheduled for 6pm). Now replaced with 50 biggest selling Movie Songs of the 90s. Could it be because I complained to Magic? (Had to email 105.4 as TV channel don't have a FB/Twitter account).

What I got to laugh at is the songs I have on my MP3 player do alot better than the crap these channels do (slag me if you want lol) here are some....

Nakasaki - Need A Lover (never seen that on TV its on YOUTUBE THOUGH)
Clock - Axel F/Oh What A Night/Whoomph There It Is (when was the last time they were on MTV or VH1 for that matter?)
Staxx Joy
Here is 2 for "VH1" - Gibson Brothers Que Sara Mai Vida
Patrick Hernandez - Born To Be Alive

that is some I play and I have never seen them being played at all! Am I missing something??

You mentioned "Gigs" just look at MTV Live (Bieber/1D/Tweedy) love fest

Never seen the "Heat" documentaries ... nothing more than a turn off - I think I did catch one by mistake and sure it was 1D but they ended up PLAYING artists irrelvant to them (unless it was X Factor related possibly )

The Box may as well bring back the phone lines lol, heck I remember that one time The Box had played songs on OLD selection numbers (mind you that was 90's!) .... The Box does need a revamp alongside VH1

I doubt it. These channels don't listen to anyone.

Maybe we should have a list of music channel email addresses and all hammer the hell out of them with complaints....

Number one in Most Outrageous Pop Videos - Lady Gaga - Bad Romance.

Gaga is about as outrageous as buying Ice Cream at a Féte.

Surprise

This is the flawed Fresh Music top 20:

http://www.4music.com/charts/2/Fresh...13th-June-2013

#1 has just made the top 10
#2 has been #1 for THREE weeks
#3 is yet to be released, but surely shouldn't John be #1? (and it's a great song)
#4 second week in top 10
#5 #1 three weeks ago
#6 Has been EVERYWHERE but yet to be released
#7 Has been around the charts for a while
#8 yet to be relesed and they are a bunch of sell-outs.
#9 Top 5 single and ALBUM...not exactly fresh?
#10 released this week
#11 - #13 yet to be released.
#14 Is this out?
#15 top 15
#16 Yet to be released, but an auto top 10 thanks to Illumanti.
#17 Out for three weeks
#18 Out for about two months! More STALE
#19 Out for a few weeks
#20 Released this week.

Pathetic. Totally pathetic. What about these acts struggling outside the top 40 and releases way off? Why not give them a chance.

I like your idea about complaining. I wonder what will make them listen?

No 14 is indeed out - No 9 in charts.

Doubt they'd listen to complaints. Labels run the channels not viewers

Britney's got a new song - very girly as it's from The Smurfs film - hope she's in the vid and not just The Smurfs - vid not released yet. Film released 31 July, so video may not be around for a few weeks yet.

Just checked on TOMORROW its RYLAN'S GUILTY TREASURES ---- really?

MTV and the other networks sure know what they doing in trying to "alienate" its viewers, I wonder will they feature songs not on BEFORE (in ages) or will it be the run of the mill and be "current" and as for Rylan its like he is NEVER OFF TV since the farce factor

I'll add again is this the "in thing" at the moment? Rather use REAL celebs to do countdowns as such or on programming (like VH1 use to be) when we got TOWIE chavs filling the air, god help us I think I am on the way out of this.......
