They use these on most of the European MTV channels now, unfortunately. Apparently the designer had an ego trip, deciding their graphics were far more important than the video content underneath. A caption is designed to accompany a picture or pictures, not obscure it completely! Just another example of how Viacom is managing to find ways of making its channels even worse, when we thought they'd hit rock bottom about 5 years ago.
I'm surprised the spin off channels haven't adopted them.
