Yeah I posted previously about it and today was meant to be the final day with a One Direction day, but it has already gone and channel 389 is now missing.

'Planet' has been removed from Sky 389, a whole half a day earlier than expected and unfortunately we now miss out on One Direction Day

I hope if some close ones like Scuzz stay.

People use to be sad about closures not anymore as these music channels play the exact same music.

I was right about Planet , next channels to go will be from CSC and those will be Flava , Chart Show Dance , Starz TV. Followed by Bauer/C4 which will be Heat , Smash Hits , Kerrang! and there'll be a rebrand/rename for 4Music and it wont be music based channel either most likely another Female skewed channel from 4 with cheap Z-lebrity , Tabloid trash type programming.

MTV will see a cull eventually in it's channels. The question is not “IF”, but “WHEN” it will happen because the day of some of the MTV's music channels are coming to an end very soon. MTV will keep MTV Music , MTV Hits & MTV Classic and maybe VH1 or they might want to rid of MTV Classic to prolong the life of VH1 but seeing as VH1 has been on air the longest it makes sense to keep the VH1 brand going just with further improvements to its content but we all know this is never going to happen. What's most likely to happen is VH1 closing and MTV Classic billed as the new VH1 just MTV branded and possibly a new look to coincide with playing more ''Old Classic Hits''. I would like to see them scrap the UK version of VH1 and European VH1 Classic to form the new VH1 a pan European channel with the same content and schedule just with local ad's and they can use a new tagline ''For Old Music Lovers'.

I don't see how they bother you if you don't watch them, there are people who probably do watch music channels a lot.

MTV/Bauer have to be the worst for ads - especially for its "reality" shows, why advertise these shows if your a "music" channel? As mentioned before give the individuals air to breath - self promote themselves or share ads than just focus on one or two channels worth of utter tat! In short its lazy broadcasting and wouldn't be surprised if this is the downfall/phasing out of channels!

VH1 - forget the charts, their controller (creative director or whatever they called), need sacked how they get away with what is broadcast is worthy of a channel is laughable yet at same time it beggars belief the more times MTV is the focus channel - remind us again MTV or VH1 what demographic are you aiming for VH1 as it seems musically your aiming for people born in the 80's but your barrage of MTV ads says differently do tell!

People say it every year..but I don't think there will be any much closures at all, there were very few in the last few years, what will change this year? Some channels will just rename/rebrand, but I think few will close completely

4Music has shown a program today called Trending Live - Afternoon hit-list (16:00 - 18:00). Filmed live in a studio with tweets, news and debates on air.

To me, its the highest production values I have seen on a music channel.

Maybe in order for these music channels to survive, they need to mix music and entertainment together.

Is this a sign of things to come from MTV and other Buamer music channels?

I might also mention there is three people in the studio, not just 1.

I don't think many will close. I think Viva may be at risk and maybe CS Dance.

Well, The Vault get higher viewing figures now they show all the old American shows, so maybe you are right.

Welcome along - remember, it's good to moan as well as praise - we only do it because we care so look forward to your thoughts

Technically speaking thats another network advertising MTV - I wonder if MTV does Clubland any favours? I presume it'll be just to promote the next album

Cross promotion should be ie MTV channels advertise VH1 programming (vice versa) OR advertise MORE of their other channels ie Nick/Comedy Central programming its annoying when all you see is mostly MTV/C5 advertised on VH1 (odd occasion you may see a Comedy Central), I think the whole Viacom ad setup needs a major shake up but I do wonder if that is their aim dwindle the channels down and close some (eventually), As I mentioned before we may as well go back to the analogue days where you only had The Box, MTV, VH1 on (unless you want Sky Digital launch then ... MTV Hits/MTV Base/MTV Dance (7pm-7am), something needs to be done and they need to expand their playlists more often too!

I've never seen Clubland advertised on MTV.

I think Clubland require the ad money more than MTV to keep going.

Looks like 4th January. I hadn't noticed as I don't watch Flava. Think it may signs of the things to come for sure. CSC seem to be heading down that route now that Flava has joined The Vault in showing 90's TV Shows.

I wonder what CS Dance could show?

BPM????? B P B P BPM B P B P BPM....anyone remember?

Scuzz could show that rock programme they had the same night as BPM.....not sure what it was called but it always ended with the fella saying "Rock Hard, Rocky Heavy"

I can't remember the last time ever seeing a Clubland album advertised on MTV - It would mostly be plugged on The Box (back in the day), when the channel use to play Flip n Fill "Shooting Star" etc hmmm since I mentioned that when was the last time that was played on MTV Dance or even Kelly Llorenna for that matter? Possibly locked up in that basement

Don't think it ever gets advertised outside of AAATW channels.

I've seen MTV Dance play N-Trance but not Kelly Llorenna.

MTV Dance currently have 5 hours of Calvin Harris. Not as much as Planet's all dayers, but they closed down during those days. Maybe MTV dance should if they are going to subject it's viewers of 5 hours of the same artist back to back.

WOW thats just awful , 5 hours ! I couldnt stick 5 seconds of listening his trashy crap!

MTV Dance is a channel that has completely lost its identity , I think it's become a channel I like to call MTV I Dont Know Anymore ? It's no longer a channel fit for purpose anymore. No one I know my age (26) watches the channel anymore let alone any of the other MTV channels. If it cannot be like it was when it first launched in 2001 , then why not just rebrand it as something else or better still close it because the songs they play arent what I call Dance music. A large portion of whats on the channel's playlist is something I find better that fits with MTV Hits instead.

MTV Dance should go back to its roots , if the channel was anything like the pre-2007. When the channel was last at it's best then the channel will be back again. This is how MTV Dance used to be 10 years ago , those graphics were so good , loved the logo too not to mention the playlist and music , everything was so perfect back then until they decided to ruin it in 2007 and replace it with these hideous graphics and not to mention the playlist saw drastic changes too around autumn 2007!

This I agree with and I am 31 here JVD! , but I would say its not just MTV Dance has lost its identity pretty much all the MTV channels have lost it.

MTV Dance confuses me more if by day we are seeing "choregraphed" dance and by night proper dance - what dance are we following??

As for Layo/Bushwacka, MTV Dance on the odd occasion plays that one still (surprisingly) but be under a 00's countdown sadly!

As for MTV Dance playlist I agree once more I compare this channel and at times MTV Base as to another MTV Hits channel, they should really be keeping certain artists off the stations than what has now become same artist on one channel expect on the other

Oh yes they play N-Trance but its the one thats never off "set you free" - I have never seen the Rob Searle remix back on either! They did have another hit covering Bee Gees - Staying Alive (another track that seems to be forgotten in their basement!!) - I am pretty sure their playlists are "safe" lists as playing older songs or songs people would go "eh?" too they too scared to show!

Surprised at Kelly Llorenna never been played again but that goes for Bauer channels too sadly

They've a few songs but in this case it was 'Forever'. On their Back to the 00's or Back To The Old Skool or something.

Bauer never touch N-Trance or Kelly Llorenna - they don't have a specific dance channel at all.

Haha!

NOW have an Ellie Goulding day tomorrow. With Planet shutting down straight after an Ellie Goulding day, will it happen again? AATW seem to have run out of ideas.

Sorry, totally missed this post the other day.

MTV Dance is nonsense. They play most of the content on MTV Music, MTV Hits or Viva. MTV Classic plays more dance related songs/shows these days than MTV Dance.

Was it that long ago that it went wrong? I miss the 'face' where he used to come out with things such as "Sometimes I have nightmares and I wake up as a goth" or similar and "I had a big box and a little box and a fish" or something like that

I think that was MTV became MTV ONE and the channels had their set of characters to identify the channel (well thats what I thought)

Of all the music channels, I was really surprised that Vintage TV is the most popular music channel in the UK with the top program on BARB getting 77,000 and number 10 getting 38,000. While MTV Music gets 52k and number 10 of 11k. Most of the other music channels can get under 10k for most of their top 10. I didn't think Vintage TV would be that popular.
