VH1 has two charts tomorrow - Feel Good Top 50 and Should have Been Number One Top 50.

Unfortunately in between those they have Beyonce Top 20.

By chance will they feature songs from the 70's and 80's that "should have been number one", I doubt they will, probably play songs from 90's onwards (usual suspects)

I suspect 90's onwards. I'll keep an eye on it later if possible.

The Feel Good Floor Fillers was top heavy with Beyonce and Gaga. I'd say at least 12 of the songs were either of those two.

First four are Pink, Timberlake, Swift and Britney. All from the 00's.

Hope this answers your question

MTV Music+1 surely must be a placeholder channel ? Why don't they just scrap it for Spike+1 instead , at least it be more useful than having MTV Music +1 which repeats the same music content every 2 hours....

Oh well that answers that question - so I take it VH1 is now out of my demographic (playing 90's .... I mean just!). VH1 of yesteryear is well and truly gone and with them playing Pink, Swifty etc shows you little imagination.....I'll wait on the worst #1s chart thats when the actual good music will get played! But then again hardly seen the MTV/VH1 play "worst" songs but Bauer did on Smash Hits or Heat a while back

Why even give a "music" channel a +1, little point to it these days, we ain't missing nothing from an hour ago since well .... its that predictable! , surprised they didn't give a VH1+1

It's pointless having +1 music channels, especially when it's the same music on every channel anyway.

It was all 00's music. Just two debates, whether one of the Destiny's Child songs was late 90's or early 00's (Independent Woman) and Faith Hill - There You'll Be, which re-charted a while back and I can't be bothered to look

If you like multiple Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Kylie, Pink and Adele, this chart was for you. I like 00's music, but they picked mainly the worst ones

Heat play Guilty Pleasures from time to time, tomorrow they have a Top 50 Guilty Pleasures - if it's the normal chart with Will Best, it's mainly 00's, but I don't mind that - beats all current music and this chart has better music than the VH1 if I recall correctly.

Viva have a Sinday Guilty Pelasures/Treasures most weeks now.

But thats what I find annoying in general for "guilty pleasures" - can we air songs from 70's onwards than stick to 00's (brief 90's) or do they not care for that now? Vintage probably would but this is getting ridiculous

I agree, although it's nice to sometimes have the TV when mobile devices are not available and my TV has better sound than most mobile devices - MTV should never be 'premium' either.

Only Vintage i'm afraid. Occasionally VH1 will play 70's but only really big tracks and on special charts.

Quite a few 'new' charts on at the moment. We can hope the channels are trying something different.

Vault are even playing something earlier than 1999! Cher - Walking In Memphis, R Kelly - She's Got That Vibe, Janet Jackson - What Have ?You Done For Me Lately (80's!), Whigfield - Saturday Night, so far.

I'll highlight what I ain't seen in ages above

Yep - Whigfield had a few other songs in the 90's but this is default (not much new there!), R Kelly - that one is always on KISS

It's notable for The Vault - they rarely play anything pre 1999. The odd 1998, but not before that and not 4 in an hour or two of each other.

We can hope they are digging further into archives.

Why does the MTV channels get away with subscription ie "premium" when their channels I believe carry "teleshopping" than any other network? Bauer - 4Music (only) and is FTA? CSC and others not sure but I doubt its a big "feature", still think Sky should be heavy handed with these channels either they do a complete revamp/overhaul, scrap the teleshopping or start closing down/merging channels.

VH1 occasionally play 70's since when? I presume it'll be the likes of Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" but I doubt they would play "disco" of that era and other types of music - the playlists are the same there is nothing much different (as and I agree with is when there is a special chart and big names), I just don't understand VH1 at all, does MTV Classic play "disco" or anything different to VH1 that is refreshing? Or is that channel to same old same old (not much new)

I doubt operators attitudes will change - they are all doing a restricted playlist and if by magic the weekends the other songs appear!

As I have said previously what is so special about the weekend - the songs you hardly play come on? You have Monday-Friday to do the same! Comes across as if that is what it is - a restriction on what to play

I'm not sure why they are considered premium. Certainly better sound quality and as good a picture quality as anyone, but not a lot else.

Queen, Abba, Gloria Gaynor, Earth Wind & Fire - the usual ones, but as I say, only in charts.

MTV Classic has a wider playlist I would say but not wide enough still. It is usually the same songs still, just more of them.

Weekends seem to be when they make more effort. Maybe they think everyone is not working, which is strange when you consider a lot of people do work weekends.

Last night was like the old days - About 8 or 9 channels were playing 00's or older, but it was one night only it seems.

If picture quality is counted as a "premium" maybe their playlists should be part of the package!

Yep the usual ones - was there any different? ie Earth/Wind/Fire - not "boogie wonderland" ? I wouldn't mind Queen - Invisible Man being played (VH1 or Vintage!)

MTV Classic has a wider range? Do they really? I would have thought VH1 would be even wider but then again VH1 playlists seems to be as minimal as possible, a complete reversal to what it was back in the 90s! For that matter why does MTV Classic and VH1 be more sharing with archive? Or is the controller at VH1 got that much of a small mind of music that everything has to be ballads and nothing more? If I remember correctly when I moved away from MTV (apart from MTV Dance), I use to tune in between VH1/VH1 Classic (before its removal from Virgin Media), VH1 Classic was still a half decent channel to VH1 (more like VH1 of yesteryear), but I take a guess MTV Classic does at times go back to its roots but at other times its going off course being "modern" , can these channels stop going modern and keep some classic channels or is this a general phase that all channels will play modern music anything from the past is wiped?

Playlisting - why change it at weekends? Whats different to that to weekday? Or as MTV Dance/Base are more famous for weekday playlist changes after 9pm some nights

If these channels are having "rating" (viewer) issues surely they should know that not all viewers want modern pap on all the time, they like variation and quite possibly different music everyday?

Example VH1 - has a Rock Day, Disco Day etc (could be weekly) and for the sake of argument since MTV is constantly plugged on VH1 why not have another MTV archive day of their old shows? Why no one in the UK division has ever thought of using some old MTV shows to fill the air it would be different to see and plus "MTV" is already being plugged? I just find it though VH1 seems more of a lost channel - it has potential but those in control of MTV just seem to let VH1 go to waste to what it once was

Yep, Boogie Wonderland.

Yeah i'd say MTV Classic had more videos than VH1. VH1 tend to stick to the same songs and charts over and over.

Do they get more viewers at weekends? I'm not sure. Especially in the summer months. I don't want to be stuck at home now the days are getting brighter.

Heat played an 80's track earlier Kylie - I Should Be So Lucky.

Boogie Wonderland wow - they may as well have played Stretch n Vern I'm Alive (sampled in 90s), they do know they had OTHER hits than that surely??

So MTV Classic delves more into an archive than VH1 why does that surprise me? VH1 should still be playing classic music as well as modern pap, but it seems modern pap and the ballads is all VH1 is!

I doubt the viewing figures differ much at weekends to weekdays but why change playlists at weekend to a weekday? Is there more people watching at the weekend to a weekday or vice versa? Hence change in music (by 9pm or weekend play)

Heat - Kylie - I should be so lucky, fine its an 80's song but this is another one thats thrown on randomly!

This is a couple random tracks but ..... has MTV Dance/Classic ever aired these: Shamen - Boss Drum (last time I seen this was under the "devil" management MTV Dance) / Urban Cookie Collective - Feels Like Heaven ?? (I can't remember seeing this one at all but I know by default its The Key The Secret), I know the obvious thing is you can see the videos on Youtube (but thats not the real point - its about these channels actually changing their playlists and to offer more variety than default tracks)

I just don't think VH1 is going anywhere. It seems an almost pointless channel.

I think MTV Classic is more designed to go into the archives. I think VH1 is MTV's version of Magic and the now defunct Bliss.

I'm assuming viewing figures differ at weekends. I assume that's why they change playlists, but then assuming can make one look foolish

Kylie was random as it was the only one they played - it was in So Awful But Be Love It
(or similarly named)

Shamen - Boss Drum was on MTV Classic? last week. They do play 90's Eurodance too so maybe Urban Cookie Collective was on - I know they play the odd song you've not seen in ages on that.

Heat have kept up playing Noughties music. I hope it's here to stay and not just for Easter Holidays. Yes, they play too much Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink and Timberlake, but they also play others and overnight, most nights they seem to have all 00's from 11something to 6am and my recordings show they play a wider range then inc the likes of Scooter, Infernal and other 'dance' music albeit it's mainly pop. Much better to have this option than another Box or Smash Hits. They could stick Heat to be all 00's, Magic all 20th Century and Smash Hits into a dance channel with Box being for all new music, but they won't.

All these music channels are in a bad way , there has to be more closures on the horizon. The Vault has gone soo terrible lately all I ever see them play is Beyonce , Justin Timberlake and hefty load of stuff that should be on Flava. They should launch up True Family if they want to expand on the ''True'' brand to replace one of CSC's music channels... so they can show some of the Entertainment shows that are appearing on The Vault.

If VH1 is not going anywhere soon, is it not about time it bucked up its ideas? Fair enough its not the same channel as yesteryear but my god it was a vast improvement to what it is now

MTV Classic - if I remember correctly when it was VH1 Classic both channels played and delved more into the archive but again VH1 just plays the same these days and nothing more.

Viewing figures - I just don't understand why it has to be weekends after 9pm or holidays playlists change - it should be everyday different and being more active in archives

Well done MTV Classic (again) they play that sort of stuff to what its counterpart MTV Dance (I would expect Move Any Mountain or Ebenezzer Goode on) again MTV Dance plays the well known than play something else, I am under the assumption its 2 different controllers?

Heat - so after 11pm the playlist completely changes? How the hell can they not do this during the day or again use the archive? It just seems to me at times channels like this and MTV they can't be bothered daytime but by night by magic they seem to remember they have an archive?

Yes, The Vault has gone all old school RnB - all that Cassie and dodgy artists that never made it. It's another channel that thinks we want endless Beyonce.

VH1 appears to be endless charts, sadly.

MTV Classic is 90% of the time the same stuff over and over, but it has occasions it does well.

I really think they change it to spice it up for when they think most people are available to watch.

I'd imagine MTV Dance and MTV Classic are different programmers. Leighton Bracegridle is MTV Dance (and Viva)? He's done ok with Viva but needs to sort out MTV Dance more.

Heat do seem to be going back to Noughties music quite a lot. I hope it remains this way.

Magic have a chart on this evening - music from USA - Number 47 or 48 was Lou Bega - That infamous German with Italian and Ugandan ancestry. I have checked Wiki - can't seen any American in there.

I have promised myself not to moan so much about these channels, so i'm holding back. Waste of time moaning but I do like to point out errors

VH1 is indeed endless charts but yet its used as an MTV vehicle ie Geordie Shore ads or if by chance they are showing countdowns from MTV ie MTV Stars of the year (yet on the MTV ads VH1/VIVA is missed out - so why even have any of these channels associate with the MTV brand? MTV UK has turned VH1/VIVA more into confused channels with no other identity other than focus on MTV)

MTV Classic/VH1 - playlists is there much difference?

As for changing playlists at weekends, is there any major difference in ratings (is there any proof - not personally at you lol - but I wonder if there is proof out there that says that changing playlists at weekends or certain times improve figures or basically hit the skids)

Lou Bega? - Mambo Number 5? Possibly an error but then again do these channels actually research tracks manually these days or is it on auto-research? Remember the mistakes of VH1 where they had songs playing that were more non related
