TMF and The Hits used to show the same music videos as they were both on Freeview!!!
Thankfully 4MUSIC and VIVA have dis-continued that practice. |

Just thought I'd bring this thread back up.
Other than one channel there's not been a single new look implemented on Sky Digitals music channels this year and it's almost April. Do music channels keep current set's too long these days? ![]() (Bliss must have the oldest set of the CSC channels). |

Yep, there are some channels long overdew a spring clean and fresh look if you ask me.
That said - the BOX has different graphics at the moment - but is that just because it's the "fresh music top 20" at the moment? |

How many music channels still broadcast uncensored videos after 9pm these days with no swearing or the uncut video?

A small point about competitions on Chart Show and Greatest Hits TV.
Are they trying to copy the Gadget Show by throwing in all these gadgets on screen with the on air announcer voice? Mind you there's quite a difference as there prizes are not worth 25k. |

Anybody here still watching much music tv? I've given up on it for weeks from what I can see most of these channels still play the same chart loop. CSC Dance doesn't seem to be improving much either.

MTV's music channels add no value to Entertainment Extra what so ever! |

Surely there's a market for a niche music station? A bit of classic here, some old jazz there, an hour or two of musical show-tunes.

I like watching Planet Pop when I flick on the music channels, the rest I find are quite naff including the Bauer ones. The Box always seems to have UKHOT40 showing. I just prefer new music and Planet Pop seems to cover that.
I also like to watch Vintage TV, just a shame about the ads every 3 songs |

I watch Music TV most of the time - as I don't like anything on TV other than Music and Sport.
The channels are slowly getting worse though and at current rate, it's not going to be worth continuing my SKY subscription. Not only are we subjected to the same music on virtually every channel, but it's all just a big mess. Today - MTV Live have a Euro Countdown - Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and anyone English with the odd Euro thrown in - Guetta, Avicii etc - Yes, I know England is Euro but I was hoping something a little more diverse? CS Dance have had wrong programmes listed all day and instead it's just been CS Dance Top 10 and hours of people in the mix - Rihanna, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Calvin, Example et al - same old same old - it's also a Bank Holiday weekend so they are going to be even lazier - expect pointless countdowns and In The Mix galore. Clubland - More pointless countdowns and they can't even get them right - Earlier they played Top 10 Facebook or something and number 4 followed number 6 and then they went to 3 and then back to 5????? The Bauer channels have numerous UK40's every day across all their channels - UK40 or Urban40. The Box and MTV pride themselves on 'New Music First' - when did you last see The Box or MTV have an exclusive that Chart Show, Starz or Planet Pop/Clubland didn't have a few days earlier? Even Capital had the XFactor boyband's new single first. MTV channels - Endless Offical Top 40 and Official DAnce/Urban/Download charts and all the channels have Perry v Pink, Taylor Swift Top 10, Beyonce v Rihanna - all nonsense as they are all repetitive. I'm off on one today, I really should just scrap my subscription as it's awful but occasionally one channel will play something worthwhile. It's almost a game now - spot the rare song/artist and it makes you feel like you've achieved! Plus points.....none today.....maybe something this evening when flicking over from the snooker? Maybe? Oh and trying Clubland's voting system again.....voted twice for a song and it moved from outside the top 5 on the most requested to number 1 and they still didn't play it....voting means carp on their channel now - they will play what they want and should get rid of the voting at the bottom. I emailed them many times, but a reply??? Pfffftttt. We need a proper dance channel, a proper retro channel, a proper rock channel (and I don't mean Avril Lavigne on Kerrang) - just more choice. Oh and Buz....same songs on different programs....why can't they have different playlists? Rant over......I needed to get that off my chest....stressful week

I wonder how these channels can be profitable when they all play the same music right now? Some of these channels particularly at the end of the guide hardly pick up any viewers. There's only about 4 or 5 channels which don't play chart based music.

I am still surprised MTV UK can get away with advertising MTV Live HD's site and site is 404 Not Found
http://www.mtvlivehd.com/ Has MTV Live HD now stopped broadcasting Nick HD now in the mornings?? (weekend mornings) It seems like at least music is running but it seems to be the same shows on repeat ie Rizzle Kicks (I don't mind them in a way) but speaking in general but the whole "music" scene on these channels is just repetitive now (Vintage seems to be my new VH1 at least - playing songs I barely see on VH1!) - these channels need to either buck up their ideas or just start closing down and the way MTV UK cares about VH1 that may as well be the first to go |

VidZone on PS3 is a very good service highly recommended seeing as you like requesting tracks from reading your past posts here. |

I predict a mass closure next year of a few music channels many get under 60,000 now its become so saturated and spread out now even the content is poor.

MTV could shut a few and maybe give is Comedy Central 3 (Classic comedy's) keeping the second channel as a catch up. I think CSC and Capital and Clubland will all leave the market. |

MTV's music channels are still pay too these channels should either close or go free but i doubt they will because no MTV Channel is free or has been not including VIVA because its not an MTV branded channel.

I don't think they can be improved, ratings wise. I think with the internet, these channels are on a hiding to nothing these days.
They don't help themselves, but their are too many channels to get high ratings - they survive by getting in guest artist presenters and the adverts. |

If i launched 3 music channels on Sky i would do it like this:
The Beat Nothing But Dance Music 24/7 covering just the best dance genres from Trance to House , Ambient and Underground Dance Music Culture. Could offer dance fans something different and better to Flaunt , MTV Dance , which would offer less commercial (and More Underground). Jukebox TV All the best tunes from the 80's , 90's and Now choosen by you entirely. Something like VH1 Europe but more interactive that viewers can vote via the red button , text . Trax TV Nothing but the freshest tunes before they hit the charts. Like the old B4 format which was entirely focused on fresh music before any other channel . ![]() in my opinion they should give control back to the viewing public instead of this countdown rubbish they are sooo keen on |

Must admit I like Heart at the moment. I Sky Plus the Time Tunnel section, so I can fill odd gaps on DVDs I create. (Ducks down to avoid the abuse!) |

Vintage TV is great on 369 it is free too as my sky subscription has expired.
They have their own videos too with old footage on a lot of music guess it saves them money. |

I dont want to sound nit-picky but why are Nicki Minaj and Rihanna seen as American? Both are Trinidadian and Barbadian respectively. Granted they may not live there and have probably got US citizenship but that is wrong. Technically they are British (Commonwealth links).

Also this Fresh Music Top 20.....why have songs which are/have been number one as fresh?! Why not give a chance to new releases...even new acts?
I think Babestation serves more of a purpose than these channels. |
