Mollie is my favourite anyway. She doesn't care about the fame and endorsments. VERY grounded girl. You would think a few of them being pregnant they'd mellow out, but nowadays even a birth is ker-ching. How long until the first celeb birth is broadcast live on the internet or the first scan photos?
The Chinese restaurant/bar me and my partner had the meal last week had MTV Live on. There was an Example gig on - great act, so something good for once. Then.....it was that misogynistic Thicke/T.I/Pharell video...then Tinchy Stryder - biggest load of crap I ever heard in my life.
Thankfully in WSM we've a few bars who have live singers, even if the one is like someone's Mum singing to a porno arrangement of "Summertime" - I cringed lol
I noticed how it's always in the voice of a nursery school teacher! Play the songs we want, stick the countdowns where the sun don't shine and scrap the Kardashian slappers ffs. I guess advertisers think we are children. At least the 80s/90s and even early 00s it was to the point in a grown-up manner.
I agree about downloading being corrupt. This is why I stick to the belief that it's "template weeks" with who gets to #1 and in the case of I-tunes, why the same songs get reduced to 59p e.g "I'm bloody Yours" by Jason Mraz everytime we get a warm spell - God help if we had a 2003/2006 type summer
I would not be surprised if the REAL sales are a lot less than what is official. Perhaps back to 2004/5 levels e.g #1 sold 25k, #2 22k.
I guess with VH1 it's a case of forget the past, do what the labels and sponsors say and go for modern this, modern that, play any random countdown and get whoever the latest Z-lister is flashing themselves to present. VERY disposable crap
I've every #1 from the 1980s on my laptop...how often would you see the likes of "I wanna wake up with you" by Boris Gardiner, "Star Trekkin" by The Firm and "A Little Peace" by Nicole? Probably never.”
The problem is people can't take criticism. Many of my favourite acts get slagged off, but that's life, not everyone loves everyone. If it's unjust I just lose respect for the person, but I can criticise people I like if I don't think what hey do etc is wrong. You can't think everything someone does is amazing.
I'm not sure many of The Saturdays are overly bright to be honest. Mollie is by far the best - singing wise, no, but seems to have the best personality, but who knows. Celebrity birth? That'll be Katie Price, A Kardashian or Beyonce, depending on fees.
See, I don't like Example - as a personality or musically. Seems to try to hard with the big man act when he should get a proper haircut! But agree about the rest!
Someones mum in a porno? Sounds like the average British Karaoke!
British music TV is very "You lucky little people, you get a chance to listen to Rihanna sing a song in a minute"
The issue here is that a million seller is easy to obtain these days. This used to be an honour, now million sellers are commonplace and you can't compare a 90's million seller to a modern day one - singles weren't available for download before 2005 and before then singles cost anything from 1.99 - 3.99 to buy. Not even comparible.
I would imagine guest presenters are cheap of even free, on the basis of free exposure for them.
I wouldn't have that much music - just the good ones!

Start the campaign!
Unfortunately, even if you don't like Bieber, you have to put up with him.
MTVLive is basically anything they can be bothered with. 'Hot Right Now' played Britney's Toxic a couple of days ago - hot right now? Ok it is with me, still, but really? Live performances are old but passed as current. Even behind the scenes are old and interviews classed as current - "your new single"....like 2 years ago.
Current music, in the main, is embarrassing.
I remember many years ago London Boys were on Magic before they changed. Another CD I saw - SuperSister - Coffee - my kids used to sing that *cringe*

When did you last see that on TV - there was loads that I saw but never see anymore.
