Low ratings.
If ratings are an issue surely they need some fresh ideas or am I missing the point? |

There are so many music channels I should think they all rate low regardless.

Ratings are indeed pretty low for most of them, but some channels perform worse than others.
VH1 is as pointless as it gets, but they must have their reasons for keeping it on life support all these years... |

MTV Music+1 - Pointless VIVA - Stale branding stuck in 2009 and pointless if MTV goes FTV! Box Upfront - Completely pointless as its the same as The Box Box Hits - Same overplayed crap that has been on trillions of times before! 4Music - Pointless replace it with The Box! Chilled TV - Pointless and seems to have undergone several changes to its format Starz TV - SMS system that's been outdated for what ? 10 years ! GET RID ! The Vault - Seems to have become more like a Entertainment channel why not move it to the Entertainment section instead! Chart Show Dance - It has never really been a great channel even its predessor Dance Nation was an utter failure and flop and it's ratings are abysmal should be put out of its misery once and for all! Flava - Abysmal viewing figures Channel AKA - As Flava |

VH1 is as pointless as it gets, but they must have their reasons for keeping it on life support all these years... I am surprised VH1/VIVA exists as there is nothing much worth watching! All they are ever used for mostly is promoting Channel 5/MTV the odd Nick/Comedy Central vehicle - shared promos these days has long gone out the window! To compare VH1 of the 90's to now its nothing more than a crap channel with little going for it. VH1 of the past had shows like 10 of the best, artist of the month, themed days/months, pretty good countdowns, proper disco nights, Rock show possibly more I could list but to see it today it is indeed a shadow of its former self (I think on the rare occasion they advertised MTV) but then again MTV/VH1 were pretty much channels that kept themselves to themselves |

VH1 is a major channel for Viacom in the US with some very popular celebrity/reality shows. I'm not sure what purpose the UK version serves anymore as it has nothing in common with the US channel and feels like it has been stuck on autopilot since 2008.

The problem with the music channels is. It's the same old songs day in day out
This bitrate of the channels are shocking and pq is shocking on 90% of them. If only we had a channel where we could make up play lists on the channel or with a app or on your computer online with an account you make and it some how will play via your sky box. Even if you had to pay a bit extra |

MTV Pride aside it's obvious stereotyping in some of it's programmes is just playing all the usual - Timberlake, Swift, Rihanna, Beyonce, Grande, Pink, Perry, Bieber.
It's another channel with 80% of the same artists as the others. Thank goodness it ends after today although i'd rather they changed other channels first. |

US version of VH1 has no music in the schedule anymore
http://tvschedule.zap2it.com/tvlisti...aid=tvschedule So their version is just an MTV clone now. |

So it could be worse then. At least VH1 UK does play music, even if it's endless charts.

Saying surprised they just didn't go with MTV Classic Pride or something similar? May I also suggest MTV puts this on VH1 even the themes they do for MTV Classic - it be more of a welcome change to the schedule if you ain't got Classic! |

I believe they are the episodes already shown on BBC 3. Not sure if any other channel has picked up the rights to make more of the show.

Today there was a "Happy" chart, but I think they just searched the database for tracks containing that word in the title. "Avril Lavigne - Happy Ending" isn't very happy.

Again correct me here but if its MTV Pride I would have expect it to play the likes of Frankie goes to hollywood, King and a few others since well its technically still a "classic" channel under another name? Or does this lot just hit modern music when possible?

MTV Classic is back today, presumably until it becomes MTV Summer. Quote:

MTV 90s was just a one month special. It would be great if it could launch full time though.
In other music channel news, MTV Live HD on Virgin has now switched to the international version with no adverts, |

Just having music all the time is pointless, as it is normally on a loop, plus it's all the mainstream stuff like Drake, and all that nonsense. They should have a music channel that also shows music documentaries or, an in the studio with programme, that shows people how some artists come up with their songs etc. Behind the scenes at some of the lesser known festivals/club nights.. one on one interviews with producers and artists/DJs.. And, maybe some music

Brilliant. Have to love these automated searches.
They did play some older songs - Ru Paul among others, but they tended to focus on more recent artists. They played a lot of Gaga and Katy Perry. MTV Classic is back today, presumably until it becomes MTV Summer. Never heard of it before it turned up on 4Music. Wish I never had ![]() |

Only just found a channel called vintage. Really good music channel, better than Magic. Magic mostly play old big commercial hits. Whilst you hear a lot of the sub- culture stuff on Vintage.

4 music is the worst. I hear the same song about 2 hours apart everyday. They must have some small budget.

4Music - it's a joke channel. When I compare Vintage covering the older hits and some of the rarer songs in known artists discography, to the dross of today - where has it gone wrong? |

Vintage is a hidden gem and it comes on to main Freeview (at the moment it's on one of those special boxes that are connected to the internet) in July. It covers all music, and some of the shows where they do interviews and music are very well done.

MTV Live HD will likely be removed overnight or early tomorrow morning, so enjoy it while you can.
