That is the problem already - its meant to be a "classic" channel reflecting on 70's-90's in my mind, your going to modern if your covering Pharrell, Gaga, Katy Perry

Its bad enough with VH1, it plays some classics but its the same ones, hardly anything new let alone its a channel most of the time on ballads (for a channel "happy" most of the year its like a "depressing" channel to watch.... (ignore Vintage TV its a good channel anyway),

Well, it's back to MTV Classic now although they played the same programme 3 or 4 times today - the top 10 the week Wannabee was number one.

VH1 tonight - 50 American Songs that hit UK number 1 - including that well known American, Justin Bieber.

MTV Classic does really sound like a sh..e channel to what it was under VH1, as for VH1 the channel has gone a bit too modern.

As for MTV Live - programming is odd timings and is pretty much ad free , in a way I am partly glad that I don't need to see the MTV crap bombarding the channel ie New Geordie Shore on MTV etc - when will those at MTV UK/Viacom that majority of its viewers couldn't give a toss about whats on MTV but more wanting to know whats on VH1 etc?

Possible that Viacom have repurposed the slot for Nick Jr HD, which is apparently now testing ahead of imminent launch to the Sky guide. Presumably a kids' channel, and one with an established presence in SD, is seen as a safer bet than an HD-only music channel...

MTV Live HD is still going out on Virgin Media, is this likely to continue long term?

Given they look to be moving the channel out of the UK market, I'd wager the continued presence of a version on Virgin is down to some kind of contractual obligations to deliver such a service. Likelihood is Viacom'll swap it out for one of their other UK channels as soon as the contract allows...

Would Virgin/Viacom bring back MTV Classic to Virgin customers if MTV Live HD to go? I can't see it that way as there is only 2 MTV HD channels one with reality/cheap shows and one with modern music in HD.

I wouldn't mind if MTV Music was the channel out of the MTV lot they got rid of - pointless channel!

Would be fab to see vh1 closed down two and replaced with vh1 classics Europe no adverts and MTV trailers fantastic music earlier this evening: candi staton, carpenters, Paul McCartney and Stevie wonder, the monkees none of these hits are ever shown on VH 1 or MTV classics which is mostly 90s and 00s , must admit MTV live HD Europe is not bad without the adds and even a few different vids which I have not seen before and for the time being its a virgin media exclusive

VH1 and from reading on here about MTV Classic - both channels need an overhaul, VH1 is more of a ballad station with sing a long from movies, it hardly varies it genres, where is rock, soul etc on here?? I will agree I wouldn't mind getting the European versions of these channels its terrible!

MTV Live HD (Europe) - its alright only difference is there is no ads but its still the same as it was before, I did notice some of their live coverage of events is going back to 2014! Surprised they aint picked up Pet Shop Boys live in 2006 or 2009 from Sky Arts HD -- I think those in control just want the HD material shown to be more of the modern artists than be the likes of Bryan Adams, Eric Clapton to name a couple on their channels -- shame really as it would have benefited VH1 if it had an HD equivlent but again MTV is priority

MTV Classic is very repetitive. I'd rather they kept it but had a good look at it and gave it a wider range of music.

MTV Music can be the current music channel, MTV Hits - hits from maybe the 21st century, but not the last year or two, VH1 can delves into music from all decades but maybe a little more easy listening than MTV Classic, VIVA a mixture of current and noughties and MTV Music +1 can be a new channel - maybe bring back MTV 90's for this slot.

They'll never have no adverts. It's how they stay afloat.

MTV Live was great when came from Poland.

VH1 today - Top 50 solo artists - including Rihanna and Shakira collab. You could argue it's two solo artists, but it's not a solo song....

Now was good yesterday, a few hours of songs from various Now CD's - Now 74, Now 78, Now 81 etc - they've done a few before,. but not 6 or 7 hours in a row. The only downside is each hour seemed to have a Rihanna or Beyonce song, so I guess that's the main reason for choosing the Now's that they did.

VH1 Classic was at least a classic channel that stayed away with all things modern, the only good thing I guess with MTV Classic recently was MTV 90's (did not see channel but feedback on here).

It be good if they gave these channels a purpose than repeat what you see on one to appear on another! VH1 is going way too much MTV these days, when its advertising MTV programmes you know the channel is already aiming in the wrong direction!, VH1 did this in the past it played all genres of music and at times it did play current tracks but these days just like the MTV "music" channels its playing the same crap!

I was downloading a few tracks recently but wondered has any channel shown them?

Kym Mazelle - Enough Is Enough (hmm MTV Dance hint hint!)
Shamen - Phorever People/Bass Drum/Destination Eschaton/Move Any Mountain (I know default its mostly Ebenezer Goode)
De'lacy - The Look (I believe this was the flip song to Hideaway?) - not sure if The Look had a video but been playing it recently I actually like it, pretty much underrated! (Hideaway is always played by default)

not downloaded but wish to point out:
Ultra Nate - Free - she also had follow up songs like New Kind of Medicine, Found a Cure and even with Stars on 54 (again a video that hardly sees the light of day!)

It just shows you how restricted the playlists really are if we use Youtube to find them, its laughable really!

Chart Show Summer is exactly the same as Chart Show TV. The channel is also using the same graphics as Chart Show TV now instead of the ones used by Chart Show Dance previously which had their own different ones. They've even introduced the UK Singles Chart and US Singles Chart onto Chart Show Summer which they never ever used to do on Chart Show Dance.

It must be a mix of labels saying what to play and also viewing figures must have been low but they are low with all the new music anyway.

Some of those Shamen songs are played in a chart on MTV Dance/Classic of. 90's dance music - the presenter of that show - Mr C - from The Shamen.

It looks like you must wait for any under played music until they hire them as a presenter.

It's a mix of their other channels with Sister Sister etc. It's even worse than CS Dance, if that's possible.

James Bay was just played on Magic's Girl Power. Wonder if they meant to play Jessie J

I agree its a really boring channel and Sister , Sister is on The Vault and Flava why Chart Show Summer? doesn't really fit with the format at all. I have a feeling that Chart Show Dance won't be returning after when Chart Show Summer has ended , could see Chart Show Hits. I'm so sure they will copy 4/Bauer like what they did with Box Hits.

But then my argument back (not at you) is if labels are being restricted for UK then why is it the US channels can delve deeper (par Europe) - baffling to me!

The Shamen - I seen that show on MTV Dance with Mr C - was not really impressed by it - you knew it was the songs MTV wanted not the actual presenters! (heck take the presenter out of the show - run the countdown on autopilot and see songs changed)

Under played music - probably this is the problem with these channels that they can't use these songs to an advantage but again its PC Safe songs that stick too (know the ones they can repeat endlessly)

Yes, i'd imagine they'll copy The Box and have channels virtually the same.

Presenters tend to be just that, presenters, rather than people who choose the songs. Some charts they allow the presenter to have a few of their own songs as payment for presenting.

In other news, Viva just went into history - Kylie - Where Is The Feeling from 94/95ish - not sure i've ever seen that video and if I have, it was a long long time ago.

These foreign versions are always so much better than what we get in the UK. The schedule looks good (more than just silly charts!) and the presentation is a lot better too.

Problem is us in the UK - the effort is more ploughed into MTV than any of their sister stations! I wonder if the money they make from Teleshopping is blown on MTV? They seem to come away with reality tat and imports but no effort is made elsewhere with their music channels - other than its cheap productions

Some of the teleshopping segments on the music channels over night are from 2002 according to my sky and freeview epg, how are they getting away with that i do not konw!
