Gosh I remeber about 10 years ago that Kylie vid would be on after 9pm.
.......and there we have it for the double standards of MTV and these channels - its one rule for us and another for the rest - the irony of this one is there was no nudity or anything apart from shirtless men yet it was deemed more to after 9pm, yet looking at some vids over recent years kind of set the standards of being hypocrites really!

As I previously mentioned would any of these channels allow Robbie Williams Rock DJ or Eminem Stan uncut or stick to edited versions? I have seen Rock DJ edited still .... The Box version is still shown with the same scenes til near end --- MTV Edit is probably the same as The Box edit or the last time I seen it -was fade to black (not finished in full even if its edited)

Good god, well 4 msuic did Team GB Party anthams something of the lines that, and they played years and years shine, that is not a dance track, they might of took a leaf out of MTV book.
They need to stop these themed charts it goes tits up at some point and as someone pointed earlier in the thread its more likely someone hardly researches but the PC itself does it instead

Surprised other FTA music channels never joined years ago.
Yes im surprised too, I don,t know what the sudden urge is to have a freeview licence unless the channel is proven popular again. Clubland is a good channel though as I watch it on sky but they need to improve though.

Yes I remeber the last time they showed those to vids above they where the edited versions however MTV Dace once played rhianna s&m the unedited version and that was in the afternoon, however some video's like that slip through the net.

Yes exactly, a few months ago 4 music did a throwback Thursday theme, and one of the songs was Britney spears break the ice, it said on the screen 2003, erm it was released in 2008.

How could someone not know which edit to use ie daytime/night time? (ok fair enough don't display daytime edit or that on screen) but they should themselves surely? Example Michael Jackson Thriller has at least 3 edits with that lot at MTV the full 14 min version (hardly gets day or night play), I think there is a 7 min (which includes intro and cuts at graveyard) and a 3 min edit (or so), which takes out intro runs it from Michael and girlfriend at movie theatre and cuts at graveyard.

If videos from the past are unable to get through lets call it "daytime" how the hell did Rihanna S&M do it? , yet thats as modern as you get! Are MTV and co trying to tell us they don't know what to censor but happily play it no matter? As I say lets say Eminem Stan uncut got played before 9pm - would they in all honesty let it run without interruption (or if mistake was made and picked up as its playing out cut it short?), I also get the point that MTV and co run on "automation" but sometimes I have noticed that they do cut videos short on the hour (if it drags on) - cut to either full ad break or trailers for MTV then back

Heck I remember VH1 before it got rid of the "year" on screen they even gave Sub Sub -Ain't No Love the wrong year (displayed 2008), yet song was out in 90's - did someone press delete on the year but thought to give it an updated year for the sake of it?

VH1 will be doing an 80s weekend on 20th/21st August. This must be the first time they've done a proper themed weekend for years. I bet there's absolutely no promotion for it though.
Not seen any ads for it and only 2 days to go.

what is it today with these channels? Was that part of the Top 50 (insert name) chart? If it is I briefly passed that too but couldn't be much arsed with it - but saying that MTV Base at least was "old skool" had Gwen Stefani and Eve - Let Me Blow ya mind

Kylie - Slow isn't that the vid she is lazing around getting a tan? , I thought the video would be more inappropriate for daytime viewing knowing MTV these days (oh wait...)
It was a top 50 chart indeed.

It was the one where she's laying around. Imagine the dance moves to that one!

Clubland tv have got a new freeview licence via Ofcom.

It'a one of the better ones as it has a wider playlist and also some programmes have app selection for free, although it mainly after 11pm these days.

A week after watching these more 100% current music channels and i've noticed one thing - certain artists will not be played on the their so called 'cool' channels - MTV Music, MTV Hits, Box Upfront & Capital refuse to play Britney's new one unless it's ina network chart.

I doubt it will be a huge hit, but if it became one, you can bet they'd start suddenly crawling up her behind like the channels that do now play her have been, despite belittling her for years.

The 'Fresh' charts baffle me too - songs that have been in the charts for weeks considered fresher than a newly released song.

It all depends on your record label, agent and if your face fits I guess.

But why not play Britney's new one? If it was Madonna it be all over the channel or be confide to VH1?

As for channels listed its the same pap day in and out no matter the time, as for the "fresh" chart playing outdated songs is more baffling to say the least - if that was in the 90's be a few weeks at most "fresh" then new entries in every week, I guess charts these days are scraping barrels - yet as many have said here there is fresh music outside the charts but none of these companies dare go near...

Not cool to do so unless it does really well i'd imagine and not from the right label etc.

As we know, they have their favourites - Selena Gomez must be from the right label because if she breaks wind, they all run over and fall over themselves to be the first to play it.

I don't even bother with charts anymore as they are not representative and easily manipulated.

Good to see that MTV Live HD is devoted to covering V Festival this weekend. Virgin Media are making the most of the channel now being exclusive to them by promoting it to the very top of the TV Guide and making it available to all their customers, not just those with the biggest TV pack.

Correct these channels are useless when it comes to music these days and regarding of clubland tv, they improve after 11pm.

VH1's 80s Weekend got off to a poor start, the first videos I saw were:
Lukas Graham - Mama Said (2010s)
James Blunt - You're Beautiful (2000s)

..but then at 10am the 80s music returned and it's been very good so far!

Had this been a 00's or 10's weekend they be well on the ball!

I don't know the ratings but do these endless Bieber, Timberlake, Rihanna, Beyonce, Swift charts rate highly? They are everywhere.

Clubland only use the App late now so when a lot of people have gone to bed. Even they no longer listen to the audience. The only ones that do are Starz and they charge you £1 for the pleasure - more if they act dumb and ask you to confirm.

Kiss tv did the best dance anthams of all time yesterday, only to cock up half way through and played Jason Derulo get ugly, that's not a dance anthem. I bet someone in the playout center said il just put the playout system in to automation and see what it dose.

not trying to say bit odd thats 2 anthem themed shows on KISS he has been "accidentally" been put in - last week or 2 he was in garage anthems with "talk dirty"

either someone is compiling them and throwing recent songs into them to keep it relevant as possible, but if so these themed charts look more stupid to playout when your throwing the likes of Derulo, Rihanna into the mix - pointless! Bauer seem to be going the way of VH1 - do a theme go off on one and then suddenly realise what your meant to be playing?

Bauer love Jason Derulo. They push his material on 4 of their channels. I'm surprised it hasn't made it's way to Magic (maybe less so Kerrang )

Looking at the UK Airplay Chart on Bauer - i'm sure it's decided by youtube plays or something but never seen some of the songs on TV channels before.

Looking at that and radio airplay charts and various other bits and pieces, it's clear to see why certain artists don't get ,much success and others swamp the charts.

Still on many Fresh Hits etc charts are Bieber, Calvin/Rihanna, Fifth Harmony, Justin Timberlake and Adele.

I blame Brian Epstein.

We need a channel with lesser known artists and performances like these

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7xtQicTqUk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY93Vwm19zI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_kxeDT-jds

Why doesn't one exist?

Probably was on Magic.

I think VH1's is the airplay chart for that channel. I think the other ones are a mish mash of spotify, youtube and Box Plus Network.

Plenty of charts over the weekend. Bank Holiday means the top 100's come out.

Fresh Music changed to....Overplayed Music That We Really Have To Push?

I see Britney has 2 programmes tomorrow and another 2 times over the weekend on MTV Music due to her pending VMA performance. Still haven't played her new one on MTV Music or Hits - wonder if they'll play it on this programme considering it's what she will be performing at the VMA's.

They are too afraid to lose the viewers they already have. Not that their are many left.

.
AAH so I guess its more of what they played on that channel .... (not seen it) but would hazard it should be a mix of old and new (old is dependent really how far back)

I wonder if MTV Rocks will do the Indie 500 again? MTV Dance and Base will keep it Old Skool I reckon (probably wrong not even looked lol), I did see the MTV Hottest Superstar is on at weekend though on ...... MTV Music - why? MTV Hits would be better if anything but I guess its first run then expect it to appear on Hits later this week.

Fresh Music should be basically fresh music maybe reduce it to Top10 or Top 5?

I still find this pretty odd for Britney's new song not to have aired -is it an ageist thing? Then again Justin Timberlake is still played .... or is this these channels hoping for her new one to flop?? Saying that I am a bit aware of the song on Social Media so if none of these channels are airing it will backfire

Not looked fully at what the exact charts are but I did see Top 100 of the year so far on MTV Music.

Fresh Music should be songs out in the past couple of weeks. When Chart Show TV play Fresh This Week, it shouldn't mean Calvin and Rihanna months after release.

I think the song has flopped in the UK - in America it didn't do that well. A case of them not being a huge Britney fan in the UK (total opposite of America where the media still love her) as she's not cool enough anymore. Only Viva of the MTV owned channels played the song.

The VMA programme just started and the new song was the first played. They'll be kissing her backside all weekend as she's performing at the VMA's (she has 4 programmes plus they'll be on +1) and then a Rihanna/Britney aftershow programme also on MTV Music. Rihanna seems to have longer programmes - I get it, Rihanna is more popular with MTV Music's supposed demographic, but unlike Britney, everyone else that ever performs - Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce etc etc will continue to be played for months after as if they are the best thing since sliced bread.

I know many artists aren't touched by MTV Music/Hits etc due to the label/coolness thing - Leann Rimes has a new song - only seen it on Chilled and VH1 (and I remember Delta Goodrem was only on Chart Show/Vault and VH1) and I know they are not considered cool in the UK, but it's only so long channels will survive with a 15 song playlist and endless repeats of charts.

Thank goodness for Vevo, You Tube etc.
