What's with the new obsession with Corruption, Rihanna's ethnicity and The Illuminati in this thread?

Honestly if these music channels are really making you so angry then don't watch them. A few people with a grudge in a forum aren't going to change anything. Rihanna may not be American but if you look at her Wikipedia page you'll see that she moved to America to pursue her career and she's one of the biggest stars (although completely shite) of the moment and you don't see many Barbadians around so I don't see the problem. I mean if she was a traditional Barbadian musician and her music was in the US themed charts the there would be a valid reason to moan.

The Valleys and Geordie Shore are obviously big shows for MTV. I don't watch them or like them but a lot of people do so of course MTV are going to advertise them as they make a lot of money for the company. Maybe you could flick to another music channel, a shopping channel or an entertainment channel when MTV has adverts, it's not hard is it?

And does it really matter about what you heard about artists e.g. Christina Perri or whether they've been in trouble or not? if people want to like them then it's up to them. Chris Brown may be horrid but there's millions who still like him. It's just something you've got to deal with.

To break things up

Illuminati - don't know.

Corruption - Everything is corrupt, but that's another story.

Rihanna - Just small details. If I went to Brazil for a few years, it wouldn't make me Brazilian, just like Nemanja Vidic doesn't play for England (i'm sure their is a better example)

True, we could flick over and I do so, i've already stated that we can just watch online music. I've 585 posts in over 6 years, so i've been flicking more than most whilst others type on DS.

Moaning - Most of internet forum threads are moaning or OTT praise. I've praised in this thread. You mentioned Greatest Hits playing a non 80's song, or so you thought, then realised your mistake - fair enough, but it was an observation of yours that you commented on, which this thread is for.

And what is wrong with Wrexham?

It's a truly horrendous place.

I mean this lightheartedly, but can you move? It's not hard is it...

Seriously, though, I appreciate it may be more difficult if you have kids etc. Before mine went to school, I moved when unhappy, just because their was no point in being unhappy.

Also, back in the day when I worked in sales, a bloke from Wrexham phoned me up and as he wasn't getting what he wanted, he threated to come down and blow my whole team up - is this typical Wrexham behaviour? Obviously it's not, everyone is different, but I always had funny folk from Wrexham.

Do you have any famous musicians from there?

Moving to Manchester in September when I go to Uni.

There's quite a few people around here like that.

Not sure.

Back to music tv. Clubland is doing a 23 coundown thing today for it's usual CD's. Do AATW have any plans to change the look of the channel soon as it's looking tired and they keep changing Greatest Hits every few months.

Aaah, may be an improvement then

I'll scratch Wrexham off of my list of places to visit then.

That's what the Clubland 23 is all about? I was going to ask as 23 is an odd number. Have to say the CD lineup is pretty shocking.

AATW have had a new website for the past 6 weeks or so, but have failed to update it for the last month. That's how they started the last website. No selection numbers on this website either, unless it's a special weekend. I'd imagine with the lack of interest in updating their site, the TV channel is equally as unimportant to them, graphics wise.

You could argue that 75%+ of them are on the wrong album.

I do not frequent clubs, but my trustworthy sources of my kids tell me that most songs you hear on TV, including clubland, do not make it into the clubs - clubland need a name change.

Buzmuzik - what's happened to their selection process? It appears you can only send a pic/text now, not a request.

Vault - Just played Stephanie Macintosh who was once in neighbours - not seen that song in years - I hope it stays away for longer.

BuzMuzik must be having issues again.

The Vault is one of my favourites. They seem to play cheesy pop that hasn't been heard for years such as Precious and A*Teens, but they play a lot of recent Disney people such as Big Time Rush and Cody Simpson but they can be forgiven I suppose.

They were the other day, but they seem to have got everything back but the voting.

They play more and more Disney these days. Big Time Rush, Victoria Justice etc. I think the recent airplay chart showed how heavy they were on this.

Upside down, bouncing on the ceiling....

I understand yes its easy to switch channels to avoid ads but my point is, if your watching VH1 you would at least expect VH1 ads for shows not all this bombardment of MTV it was fine at first but now its well excessive (do we really need to see it appearing on VIVA also - doubt it) I do get your point but it is more coming across as if people over (let's say) 25+ go to MTV and catch the idiots of "the valleys" really?? ... how would "previous" presenters of this channel would say about it, pretty sure they would be left dumbfounded in how this channel has became trash and it comes more across as if that is what MTV is doing alienating viewers.

If you look at a couple artists from the past that use to get played alot and now are not touched at all, but yet Chris Brown does something and its all swept under the carpet? Yes I have heard of times changed but surely its giving out the wrong impression? So it is ok to do this but your not allowed to do that?

Next Monday on 4Music: Twitter Wars.

Who wants to know about immature popstars having spats with each other and their fans?

Can see why a lot of teenagers are off the rails. This glorifies such childish behaviour.

Well, as we discussed, these channels are aimed at young people who probably find all that interesting. I can't think of much worse. If you've seen 'Trousersnakes BBQ ' you will know how bad Heat/4Music has become.

On another note, VH1 just played Emmelie De Forest as the channels 19th most played song of the week. I know I don't tune in to VH1 that often, but i've never seen it on there at all.

It's probably the 19th most played out of the tracks on the standard playlist, which is only really used at breakfast time and after midnight.

Tells me everything I need to know.

Talking of charts, and i'm sure the reasoning is similar, Clubland have Martin Solveig's new song that has been around a week/10 days higher in the most played chart, which is new today, than Jason Derulo which they hammer the hell out of and have done since it's video release weeks ago and Clubland I have on alot.

Not that it really matters, but you know whatever formula these channels use, it's not the simple 'most played'.

Heart seems to have gone downhill I'm seeing the same videos now on Club Classics , do they have to play DJ Sammy - Heaven all the time why not Boys of the Summer , Sunlight , or the the Remake of Annie Lennox's Why ?

UK Music channels don't really play lesser known songs from popular artists for some reason , they only play their most popular hits , i wish Heart would play more songs and stop with the same tunes all the time it gets tiresome and boring.

I think a lot if not all UK music channels like to pretend the lesser known songs never happen. I saw something on 4music a while back with Katy Perry. "Waking Up In Vegas" and "Thinking of You" were IGNORED!! Yes they may not be to anyone's taste but they are a part of a discography. The evidence and records are there.

Madonna did a discography DVD with ALL her videos in 2009. Aside from "Holiday" and "Everybody" which did not have videos, she had all her songs on there even the ones that are lesser known such as "Take A Bow", "Rain", "Burning Up". At least she is catering for the fans and not pretending failures never happened.

Hurray on Emmelie making the top 20!!

Sylvester - What was with this Trousersnake BBQ like?

Usually the more 'serious' songs rather than the more gimmicky songs are ignored, as they want the gimmicky nonsense.

Trousersnake BBQ was mainly JT and Kanye Music (3 Britney) with cartoon characters with their real heads on inbetween talking crap - mainly Jay-Z and Justin putting Kanye down and Will.I.Am arriving in a bubble talking crap and some Cameron Diaz - it was basically unfunny - I think Will Best was doing the voices.

Oh my God! If there was a contender for worst show of 2013 - we have it. I believe the shite is repeated this week. How pathetic is this? 4Music should lose their Freeview licence for inflicting this misery on us.
