Vintage TV is great on 369 it is free too as my sky subscription has expired.
They have their own videos too with old footage on a lot of music guess it saves them money. Quote:
I dont want to sound nit-picky but why are Nicki Minaj and Rihanna seen as American? Both are Trinidadian and Barbadian respectively. Granted they may not live there and have probably got US citizenship but that is wrong. Technically they are British (Commonwealth links).

Also this Fresh Music Top 20.....why have songs which are/have been number one as fresh?! Why not give a chance to new releases...even new acts?
I think Babestation serves more of a purpose than these channels. The Vault - looks like they have new graphics to go with Chart Show. Music has got worse of late too. Seem a little obsessed with all these American kids from High School Musical etc - Demi Lovato, Mrianda Cosgrove , Victoria Justice, Emily Osment etc - don't know if they are all from HSM etc, but they appear like they are judging from the videos - terrible. |

Don't get me started on the Disney Kids! How FAKE can someone look? At least Christina/Britney/Justin have a personality and an individual look about them. This lot are like dolls. No wonder Lindsay Lohan is off the rails...would not be surprised if there is a scandal there re: similar to the BBC abuse cover up.
Glad someone agress about Fresh Music chart. At the end of the day if people want to hear new music they should. Sadly this is what happens when you take away the public element...its what THEY want. Another thing why always US acts? Nothing was done for St Georges Day with English acts. No, I am not a UKIP member but surely our acts should get airtime. We are not part of America FFS...whats so special about a country that starts war on places? I think this is part of the reason the singles chart is static. Very tight playlists and no airplay for new acts. I think a chart working like Eurovision would work...25% jury 75% sales. |

Unfortunately these channels just show the same artists as it's what they think people want AND i'm sure they are being leaned on by promoters etc I see they have changed some rules in America on 'sales' - something along the lines of 100 streams = 1 download. When downloads were introduced, it opened up abuse of the charts even more. Now with streaming, companies are going to have a field day. But, singles sell albums that sell tours. It's all about money, money, money, fame, fame, fame and 'how fit' someone is. Oh...and money and fame. Very few current artists care about music these days. You get the odd exception and they stand out - Coldplay, Radiohead etc, but pop and RnB industry etc only care about money, fame and how many women they can degrade - i've nothing against babestation, p orn etc and people watch what they like - I just don't want it in my music videos which are shown all day in front of the kids. EDIT They do play alot of UK acts, but we are obsessed with the US. I think Eurovision showed that US acts are NOT the greatest in the world - Eurovision acts could all sing live for starters. Again, we are told that US acts are all the very best, when very few actually are - and the ones that are, are NOT the ones they play the most. |

I agree with everything you have put.
The thing is the music industry today is all about money even more than before. Acts are probably more controlled than before and it seems America is the place to crack. Hence pairing singers with rappers who have pointless parts to play. What is wrong breaking in Australia and the Far East? Far bigger market there. Plus acts can be true to themselves. 2013 has been the worst year musically so far....there seems to be no light. I am 28 btw and even I am pissed off with music nowadays. There is no originality at all and all the good stuff is ignored or critised. Its thanks to channels and radio stations keeping with tight playlists that is ruining the charts. Eurovision is more diverse than the singles charts anyday! Imagine pitching the whole Top 40 to sing live? I bet about 35% could. Eurovision 2013 had two weak singers but even they kept in tune. |

To add:
I listened to a whole load of Now albums on Spotify...found a few from 1993 and although there was some dross out, the standard was better than now! At least music had character to it. There was a dance track by Lulu called "Independence" (could be Scotland's Yes vote anthem lol), which was not auto-tuned or featuring a random rapper, just an up-beat track that did the trick and the voice and chorus selling the song. That's all I ask for, not the add-ons which make music sound fake today. |

Music TV in the UK has become tedious with so many channels playing the same thing. Sadly, the best thing that could happen would be for a load of them to close, then maybe the focus would shift back to quality rather than quantity. 15 years ago we only had MTV, VH1 and The Box but the variety of music across those 3 channels was far greater than the 30 channels we have today, and MTV/VH1 offered quality music programmes and documentaries too. CMT has followed its owner (MTV) and now has films, comedy, cooking, reality shows in place of country music. 3 channels - Beyonce on one, Rihanna on another and Nikki Minaj on another....followed by Katy Perry, Pink and Gaga. At least with so many channels, there is a chance of something. I just don't get why when a new channel starts, it's the same old music! Makes no sense. |

Sylvester2007: The two weak singers were Slovenia who were last in semi 1 (she was the girl in leather with a dance track) and Spain.

I think aside from the girl of Scissor Sisters..all were poor commentators. If the BBC dont want it give to CH4. I am sure we would have a contemporary entry in their hands.
![]() Anywhere but the BBC would provide a better entry. The again, we could end up with teenage pop star or a Brit schooler. Watch out for next year, could be a year for Shakin Stevens

Technically he produced "call my name" for her (uncreditted for it .... typical cheryl)

You'd have thought they may have a commentator with some musical knowledge. Graham Norton is about as musical as they don't come.

Well Ana from Scissor Sisters obviously knew her stuff, and for an American she had a lot of Eurovision knowledge..more than Scott and Graham!!
Surprise.... The record labels basically promote their artists like crazy to the channels. Live performances? That's 99% of the chart done for then. Seriously, the whole of Eurovision was better than our charts. Quote:
