True!

MTV Flux - I remember it well did that later turn into VH2 and then well history??

The Cube Guys/Luciana? - I only remember the cover of the song by The Who featured on one of the CSI's!

sounds dire - I wonder if there will be a mix up with one of the tracks between 2006/07?

Although a few people on this forum have a grudge against CSC's music channels they do have a lot more choice.

The Vault plays pop like Aqua, 5ive and Steps. Which isn't really to many people's tastes but it's a fun channel.

Bliss is like Magic but with more variety including country music.

Scuzz plays proper rock and metal including a lot of unknown or obscure artists. Unfortunately certain people don't like that for some reason

Flava is a bit like Kiss but plays a few unknown artists. Same goes for Channel AKA.

MTV Flux would work right now as Facebook and Twitter are more popular. There were a lot more interactive channels back in those days but they all seemed to fail.

MTV Flux could replace the MTV Music channel as a interactive channel if they up to it or they could turn MTV Music into MTV Flux by putting requests and the like on that dire channel.

Sometimes the actual content is better than the programme titles. They don't always choose the obvious songs. You sometimes get a rarer track (as I detailed earlier in the thread with the likes of the rare G&R track). You are more likely to get something half decent on here than any other MTV channel for example - not that it's hard to be better than the rest.

Playing Fratelli's on 2006 - not uber rare, but criminally under played.

I think it was VH2 and then with the rebrandings of certain channels it disappeared totally.

Cube/Luciana is this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZAWeD_UPz4

Chart Show isn't that bad. Bliss offers alternatives sometimes, although they seem to have gone away from the lesser known artists they used to play and gone just for the softy artists again.

Vault can be ok. Just the annoying American teenage shows music that seems to have taken over - Big Time Rush/Victoria Justice or whatever, is annoying.

Fat chance. Nice idea though. MTV's viewer interaction appear to be long gone.

It sounds like more to me CSC have got the idea of being "varied" with what the play - so if they are able to do this I see them as lead by example compared to the other networks

CSC's music channels are good but of course there is a lot of repetition and too much urban music. Chart Show Dance is just the same as Chart Show TV but with more Guetta, Rihanna & Pitbull so there's no proper dance for the dance fans but they obviously decided that it doesn't work for them. It's not my thing but there was a Country music hour on Bliss before.

There are a few people on this forum who have a serious problem with CSC and slate them no matter what they do, practically an obsessive hatred (Not mentioning any usernames). but I actually find that they are the best out of the channels. *ducks for cover

I'm surprised that no music channel has a Smartphone App where you can request videos.

Clubland is probably the most varied as they have a lot of videos but choose to play non-stop Tulisa, David Guetta, Scooter and Cascada (Not complaining about seeing Natalie Horler)

I admit I can't have an honest opinion on channels you mentioned (sadly) apart from Vintage lol .... but that is what we do need is variety and more of it and from what your saying sounds like these channels in a way lead by example, I'll agree there is way too much urban/dance music (even that IS my genre of music!), its tired and past its sell by date (more of having a go at artists that seem to follow a "trend" and just create utter trash for music) - but I find it more shocking that the channels seem to play more safe with music now, Example I'll use is VH1 - I took it as more of a channel that plays classic tracks to now, but looking at it - the playlists are just the same and ain't much different to say MTV Hits (classics are the same old - not much new or "adventurous" (Vintage is a +1 on that)) and I was surprised TODAY seeing Jay-Z and Kanye's new song yet the only LL Cool J song they ever played was "all i have" with J-lo -- right then VH1 again playing "favourites" with certain artists!

I'll add this point regarding VH1 - they barely played any "rap" til recently (from what I see) so if they can play Jay-Z/Kanye how about LL Cool J? I'll be happy (but I doubt it) and as mentioned and I would place my bet on it, all down to the labels!

On this thread? Or forum overall? I find them one of the best in range of channels.

I don't think UK Music channels are that technilogical. The closest to that is Clubland with Twitter requests.

I should hope you are not complaining about Natalie - never too much Natalie

I like that one I just find it "odd" suddenly Jay Z has made it onto VH1 yet they wouldn't touch him with a barge pole few years ago!

Maybe is it time that we got some old skool rap on VH1 (even rock dance??) than the same tired charts/countdowns?

I think it's for two reasons:

1. He's in a celebrity relationship that is in the pubic view alot these days.

2. Ask any underground Hip Hop artist and they'll tell you how mainstream and cheesy Jay-Z is these days. (ok, maybe not any, I don't know any of them, but down the years, what I have heard/seen on my TV etc)

Maybe we could get you to do a rap and see if you can get it onto VH1?

It's not entirely true anyway - they've had The Saturdays, Little Mix and the bloke from The Script trying to rap on VH1

So in other words as Beyonce is that big now, they'll happily accept Jay-Z - next week i'll see "big pimpin'" on VH1 next as a Summer Anthem

#2 - yes where did it all go wrong?

as for getting me to "rap" who you kidding? - i'll ask professor green

as for artists you mentioned - yeah "everyone" is now doing it (why??) - if you don't do or even know what "rap" is or what it is don't do it!

Why not? Everything else appears to be a summer anthem

He went mainstream, he has the fame etc but not the respect of the underground hip hop community. Money meant to much to him.

Anyone but Pro Green.....please!

I think people think it's cool. Although I don't like Ellie Goulding, she keeps trying to work with artists who are considered 'cool' every other song. It's all about being cool to young people. When you get to our age we kind of just cringe a little.

Music from 6-7 years ago is considered classic these days?

Does that include Christmas songs

yeah money went to his head

Nothing wrong with Professor Green - yeah he ruined INXS - Need You Tonight - and that was horrific!

What is "cool" anyway nowadays - be an idiot to the nation on crap shows, and the music being autotuned to hell - yes it is really cool - or should it be replaced with "annoying"

Anything can be considered classic, although the channel should be older music, I feel.

Vintage TV even play current music now, on Future Vintage.

I saw East 17 - Stay Another Day, yesterday. It wasn't the Christmas video though

Can't stand Pro Green

Cool is everything we see in the charts - apparently

People say the same about Armin van Buuren with his recent stuff. Maybe the general rule is as soon as UK channels pick up on it it's no longer real dance?

i switch off the radio when his current pop tune is on air. cant stand it. i think armin has some good recent tunes, but i dont like his dance-pop style tunes like "this is what it feels like". tunes like 'orbion', 'nova zembla', 'jai envie de toi' are his better ones. the tv channels only choose the dance-pop tunes. there are many good tunes out but they dont match with that dance-urban-guetta-crap. anyone seen the new The Orb or Tricky clips on tv? even the new Pet Shop Boys stuff is much better than that what the uk dance channels play. For dance music "dance culture" on the german IM1 is the better choice than MTV Dance, Clubland or CSDance.

The sound is drifting to pop, but it's the Aloe Blacc involvement that pushes it over the edge.

It looks like being number one in the UK this week - it's been pushed very hard by the music channels - along with that awful Pink/Lilly Allen (out of retirement again) song.

Pet Shop Boys new track hasn't even been played on Music TV.

Talking of Clubland, they, Summer Hits and Planet Pop now have a sponsor after a certain time in the evening (9pm?) - an online auction site - not the obvious one - I won't name it as I don't want to give it any advertising, but it appears they are now going down the road of other channels in being sponsored.
