Anything can be considered classic, although the channel should be older music, I feel.

Vintage TV even play current music now, on Future Vintage.

I saw East 17 - Stay Another Day, yesterday. It wasn't the Christmas video though

Can't stand Pro Green

Cool is everything we see in the charts - apparently
East 17 - Stay Another Day - who played it - wasn't VH1 was it (if so again they stick to familar songs and hardly play their other songs such as House Of Love/Alright (seen this ONCE on Smash Hits never again seen them played) and again expect VH1

Professor Green - same here mind Unknown posted up his new song and I posted up Prodigy - Breathe, another song its familar with is The Heavy - How You Like Me Now

Vintage sometimes has too broad a spectrum and tries to be everything, going back to 50's but they hide it away in the "Breakaway" "Magic Moments" you don't know when they are on they need all there shows to make you aware of what is on.

Vintage tonight states what it is showing
6.30 American Alternative Rock
7.30 Grunge
8.30 Nirvana
9.30 Lo-Fi, Edgy Alt
10.30 90s' Chill
11.30 1982

That's how all there shows should be presented if you into 50's 60's you know then those are not for you but they definietly offer variety the others do not go near.

Talking of Clubland, they, Summer Hits and Planet Pop now have a sponsor after a certain time in the evening (9pm?) - an online auction site - not the obvious one - I won't name it as I don't want to give it any advertising, but it appears they are now going down the road of other channels in being sponsored.
MTV Dance had programme sponsors a few years ago too. clubland was a sponsor of a show in the evenings (was it oblivion...?). nothing really new.

It was VH1 Greatest Hits played House of Love the other day plus another one that I forget the title of.

Clubland currently playing - Charley says Meoooowww

Vintage have started playing recent music too, which is disappointing. It's good that they do play a wide range though.

Well, as my previous post suggested, other channels do have sponsors. Unfortunately Clubland etc seem to have gone down the cheap and nasty route. It's like a tacky 80's presentation, but I don't know the auction sites reputation. It's only a few seconds, so not an issue, I just thought it interesting and they appear to be trying to raise funds. It's only been a year or so since they turned to teleshopping and got rid of the premium service which was probably costing them to run.

On MTV tonight, The UK Top 40 - last weeks, as the new one came out today. Could confuse a few. Never seen them do that before.

AAH so VH1 is actually going into archival stuff then? Everytime I tuned into VH1 it would be "stay another day" or the one with Gabrielle - surprised actually

Charley Says - oh The Prodigy

I like Vintage TV being honest but I just seem to tune in at the "correct" times as you do see a few gems that you would expect VH1 to play but as far as I see barely don't!

I don't get why a "channel" or shows should be sponsored its bad enough you see it elsewhere, seems more like its the easy route nowadays to make money sadly (even include the shockingly Teleshopping). Sponsorships on some programming to me make the programme/channel actual cheap and I do think in a way damages the channel (they already run the ads for god sake!) (again this is my opinion and I know I might be wrong - but I vaguely remember in 90's "sponsorships" if there was it was far and in between)

VH1 arhive? Not really Every now and again the odd song.

With Vintage you need to tune in at certain times. Can catch the odd gem.

It's all about money - sponsorship is annoying but it's everywhere now.

Just noticed some channel number changes for Sky Viewers.

Buzmuzik now 372 - next to Starz

Bliss now 376 - next to Greatest/Summer hits

CS Dance now 382 - next to Clubland

MTV Dance has unusually high ratings in the latest BARB ratings, which make it the third most watched MTV music channel after Music and Hits. The top rated programme got 78,000 viewers which was higher than any other MTV music channel.

Chartshow are being quite clever placing their channels next to similar rivals, and also moving Scuzz next to Kerrang recently.

Yeah its a real shame the state of the channels - personally I expect VH1 to be home of the classics as well as updated music but sometimes VH1 comes more across as the same as MTV/BOX - same s..t everyday!

As for sponsorships I wonder how long they'll last and then it'll be back to the norm - surprised why the Government doesn't crack down on "sponsorships" if we are all in this together is it not about time these networks actually woke up to reality that we live in rather than constantly create a fantasy??

How strange - a random show getting that much.

Club X would be on too late for big figures anyway.

I don't have freesat, but a big blow to Scuzz fans. I understand Freesat have all the bauer channels now?

We moan, yet years ago, we only had very few channels

I guess a company sponsoring a programme means something to tax for the government Plus they are too busy cracking down on other things than to worry about music channels. It won't be long until Cameron cracks down on what appears in music videos and what we are entitled to watch etc...

Out of interest, it may only be my setup, but are Bauer channels worse audio quality than other channels for anyone? They always appear to be lower sound.

Surprised he hasn't given MTV UK a slap (OFCOM) for their advertising for "the valleys"/"geordie shore" during the day

As for music videos - yes ain't it not surprising really, what we seen in the 90's (pending on the vids) we would wait til 9pm for the x rated version and now it looks like nearly x rated vids are on during the day , yet "90's" vids as mentioned earlier still get the treatment from then

The Box and Magic have switched from 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen today (finally! ).
Kerrang is still 4:3.

Lot of videos on Kerrang are 16/9 so won't be long.

is the graphics still the same or have they had a rebrand?

EDIT: seems like Bauer are at least moving with the times - pity MTV still can't revamp VH1 yet

Blimey thought The Box would never go widescreen. Does it still look like crap anyway?

Does anyone know if the bitrate of the music channels has decreased on Sky in the last 10-15 years? I remember The Box used to be clear as a bell when they first got rid of their old NTSC system. MTV too. Or perhaps it was just that it looked better on a CRT TV.

They have indeed all dipped in quality.

UK Television now holds some of the worst SD picture bitrates in Europe.

If they are going to start cropping 4:3 content I'd rather the channels stayed 4:3. Do you think MTV knows how crap their SD channels look in all their pixelated blurryness? Most likely their staff/management don't watch them at home!

He probably watches them

That said, it's those type of programmes that make young people today feel inadequate, but Diamond Dave is too busy messing everything else up - but that's another topic for another day.
