I only heard Graham Norton, sadly.

The record labels basically promote their artists like crazy to the channels. Live performances? That's 99% of the chart done for then.

Seriously, the whole of Eurovision was better than our charts.

That would be different. How long before MTV UK takes it over do you think and puts Rihanna and Beyonce on there?
I give it a month

Agreed about Eurovision - at least the song matters, not the gimmick now with 50/50. Perhaps PLAY the live performances on the chart show...be funny to see Britney attempt to sing live

Music today is even more of a business than it was. I think things are more controlled than they were years ago. Considering all the financial problems across the world, particularly in the UK you would think there would be some "screw the goverment" songs we had in the 80s and 90s...sadly there isn't.

Without sounding like a conspiracy theorist, I think today labels are picking people only wanting the cash or from backgrounds least likely to be affected by the cuts. Sandie Shaw complained music is too middle-class, and the working classes are not being represented. Hence songs today are about partying, money and bling - something A LOT of record buyers in the UK can barely do.

Leave my Britney alone

Well, you only have to look at British music - most of them are posh kids that have been sent to Brit school - the poor guy gets nowhere unless he goes on X-Factor. Great stuff

Look at the country....run by people from posh schools. I wish we were like Finland where there are NO private schools. Something needs to be done - as much as I would LOVE a revolution in the UK, I know it would never happen

The way things are going with recent events, we will have a revolution of some kind.

It's Brit School or Talent shows in the UK - or if you know someone. Joe Public has no chance otherwise.

It's the old look when I switched on tonight.

That one program had new graphics. The numbers on the songs were to a yellow/orange background and the InDemand in the top right hand corner was a different design.

Talking of numbers - Clubland have no numbers on screen on their most played 100 of the month

They also have a top 10 most requested of the day at 3pm - between 7 and 2 it's this chart, so not alot of chance of requesting until much later today.

Rumour has it MTV India will launch on Sky within "days" to replace a closing Indian channel.

http://www.media247.co.uk/bizasia/9x...al-within-days

At least the playlist looks different to MTV UK
http://mtv.in.com/music.html
That would be a nice addition. Is it in Hindi or English?

To quote myself, the top 10 most requested of the day is exactly the same chart as last weekend, so it's unlikely this is a new chart.

http://www.aatw.com/?p=52 The codes for this weekends selections that starts shortly. Some decent tracks in there.

Just a little exercise for you all, just to gain an idea on your music channel thoughts.

Top 3 music channels -

Worst 3 music channels -

Channel easiest to re-vamp -

And how would you re-vamp? -

Are there too many music channels and if so, what channels (owned by the same company) would you combine?

The thing you enjoy most about music tv -

Pet hates about music tv -

I'll post mine tomorrow

Top 3 music channels - Heart, Starz and Vintage (I miss freesat )

Worst 3 music channels - Viva, 4Music, The Box

Channel easiest to re-vamp - 4music

And how would you re-vamp? - Ditch the none music programming, have selection shows (OFCOM get over it!) and get rid of all these countdowns

Are there too many music channels and if so, what channels (owned by the same company) would you combine? Yes. Ditch Heat and combine it with Smash Hits.

The thing you enjoy most about music tv - Seeing music videos.

Pet hates about music tv - Too much of the same thing, new talent ignored unless they are on a huge label/reality tv show/disney kid clones. Non music programming....I wish the Kardashians would stay in America and loose all their money. No direction. Dismissal of public choices.

As promised

Top 3 music channels - Clubland, CS Dance, MTV Classic

Worst 3 music channels - Viva (!), MTV Live (ruined it)

Channel easiest to re-vamp - 4Music - Get rid of programs and back to music

And how would you re-vamp? - Combine with Heat and/or Smash Hits

Are there too many music channels and if so, what channels (owned by the same company) would you combine? 4Music/Heat/SmashHits - MTV Music/MTVLive

The thing you enjoy most about music tv - The opportunity of so many different music videos - only they mainly appear to be the same.

Pet hates about music tv - Repetitive videos and artists, repetitive programmes, pointless countdowns, non music programs on tv, shameless plugging of the same artists over and over ignoring and disrespecting smaller artists

Top 3 Music Channels - The Vault, Magic and Scuzz

Worst 3 Music Channels - Planet Pop, Smash Hits and CS Dance

Easiest Channel to re-vamp - Smash Hits

and how would you re-vamp? - Turn it into a Vault style channel with classics and hidden gems from 1990 to now.

Are there too many music channels and if so, what channels (owned by the same company) would you combine?

The Box and Heat

The thing you enjoy most about music tv

Flicking through and seeing a video I like when there's nothing else on or during the adverts. Occasionally there can be a few videos I've not seen for a while which is good.

Pet hates about music tv

Same old videos and artists such as awful Will.i.am, Pitbull, 1D, Bieber and Murs. Stupid countdowns and lack of variety.

Good old Clubland - today's BBQ hits chart is an old airplay chart re-hashed with a few songs pushed down the chart (example 25-30 on the old airplay chart pushed to 30-35) and some newer/older ones thrown in the middle occasionally, before playing another 5 from the old airplay chart and then doing the same again with newer songs.

No point in contacting them as they never reply and don't listen to the viewers anyway. They just won't have anyone to blame but themselves when they go tits up.

They've had a Voice Aftershow on VH1 for the past two nights - it is songs that have been 'sung' on the programme apparently, but how can an aftershow be on when the programme hasn't

I've turned it off for an hour - all channels are blocked out with rubbish. Clublands Eurodance Girls is on, but it's all crap songs, although i'll turn back on at 10:45 ready for Cascada (I just hope they haven't changed the running order after all this time! She should be on at 1050-10.55.....just before Las Ketchup  )

I think it's VH1 not following the plot at all.

YAY Cascada!!! Perhaps Loreen from Eurovision 2012 will get played? Is the rest of the countdown Nicki Minaj and Rihanna?

Like always!

I think they play Loreen - Had Tulisa (!!!) Kate Ryan, Whigfield amongst others.

No Rihanna - just turned back on and Nicki Minaj is on.....what the hell is she to do with Eurodance?

Kate Ryan...another one who did Eurovision - she was shite and the song was not her usual style.

It's the labels plugging Nicki Minaj and Rihanna...again money exchanging hands.

I don't remember that. Possibly as Belgium never do well.

I'm still trying to work out why Minaj is on Eurodance.

We've got Kezo's favourite now - Cheryl!

Oh f..k! I ain't near it but whats the topic??? .... has VH1 done another clanger .... oh wait VH1 is full of clangers

as for Nicki getting played i'll gather its because "starships" was possibly a big dance tune in europe aka VH1's "eurodance"

www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUFh6Khi8zc - Can see why she flopped.

No idea Sylvester...I'm as clueless as you. Cheryl Cole isn't Eurodance, she's a talentless girl band member who plays on minor miseries.

That is a bit rubbish

She's Euro, so it's more than Minaj, but no, not Eurodance, neither is Tulisa.....so many they could put in that category that they didn't.
