My word, what has happened to Clubland?

Turned on tonight - Future Classics - Jessie J, Jason Derulo, Robin Thicke, Tinie Tempah etc etc
They are not dance!!

Seriously every music channel and even radio station is the same nowadays! On top of that, I dont watch crap factor but it is ALWAYS the same songs sung in the auditions and performed.

I have opted out the mainstream now. Plenty of good unknowns out there.

The new Pure Dance is amazing , a true dance station with no shitty Top 40 and free of David Guetta/Avicii and SHM just proper dance with lots of obscure new artists and forgotten classics , this is what DAB and the Sky Radio section could do with originally the old owners of the brand used to have a slot on Sky many years ago..

Should check it out

Currently on Greatest Girls Wednesday (Greatest Hits) - Michael Buble!

Master of disguise that one.

Their figures are so low you can hardly blame them trying to go a bit more mainstream. They can't just keep playing N-Trance and Flip & Fill forever.

I'm watching the music channels less now. Only so much you have of the same songs and artists.

We need a TV channel like this.

True to a point, but then they risk alienating their loyal viewers - not that they will matter if they get more of the cling ons of the mainstream artists, who more than likely will stick to MTV, Chart Show TV and Bauer anyway.

They should go freeview or something if they want more viewers.

I wonder if this was a mistake, something intended for Planet Pop maybe?

Clubland has been fairly good when i've seen it recently. Their video request weekends always have some good stuff on the playlists (eg. http://www.aatw.com/?p=131) such as Basto, Above and Beyond, Gareth Emery, Sander van Doorn, Mat Zo and other artists who don't often get played on UK TV along with mainstream dance tracks.

Most of the MTV music channels have small changes to the schedules from Tuesday 1st October (probably the same stuff as always, just under different names).

MTV Classic has a series of "...That Made MTV" such as "90s Classics That Made MTV". Hits and Base seem to have a few tweaked programme titles like "Nothing But Hits" becomes "Big Fat Hits" and "First Base" becomes "Super Base Beats". On Dance a few things move around, eg. instead of repeating the Official Dance Chart each weekday at 13:00 it's now on at more varied times. Finally it looks like MTV Rocks are having a Rocktober month, and VH1 are doing Poptober. There are no listings for MTV Music yet.

New schedules kicking in on the 1st of the month have sometimes coincided with new looks, but there's no news about any new branding so far.

I am sure VH1 is meant to say Pooptober ... why do they do that if they are playing the same cack day in day out .... you mentioned the "90's" I wonder if unknowns will be played or will it be the same ones that have been played to death (i'll take option 2)

yeah we still waiting on the long awaited VH1 rebrand wonder when that will kick in

All the same "new hits" and "classics" played in a slightly different order no doubt.

Well, they could be content sharing.

Some of the stuff has been good, but some of it embarrassing. At times their playlist reads a who's who of Urban with Guetta, Calvin Harris, Example and Avicii overload thrown in for good measure.

It's just a shame that weekends are when i'm at my busiest.

We live in hope, but will likely be deflated.

I don't think you'll be far wrong.

More chance of it turning into MTV VH1 and BET UK will be turned to rubbish on the same day. BBC 6 Music is better then the music channels these days anyways,

MTV Classic does play some unusual tracks if you're lucky enough to catch it running the standard playlist (eg. not a themed strand/chart). Prince - Little Red Corvette was on earlier.

Hasn't the programmer on MTV Classic changed recently? Perhaps this has had a positive impact.

That seems to be their aim in UK run channels into the ground ... just look at MTV Live tonight ... MTV asks "the wanted" .... and MTV Live has finally hit rock bottom .... NEXT!

I wonder if Vintage TV actually does more of a decent job to MTV?? (I don't have classic on VM but the mistake last weekend of playing Robin Thicke kinda says it all to me....)

As I understand it MTV Classic and VH1 swapped programmers a couple of months ago. Classic has improved since then and the general playlist slots are no longer full of classic rock and britpop.

Elsewhere in Europe. Polish viewers can look forward to Warsaw Shore which is now in production.

Yes, Classic has played some better music of late, although the other week they played Blurred Lines and today in a 90's v 00's show played One Direction, Nicki Minaj and Moves Like Jagger in about 10 minutes.

Warsaw Shore - It's a bit like that where I live to be fair. No shore, but lots of Poles.

I think MTV Classic has possibly become even worse since the programmers swapped. As posted by Sylvester2007, it's quite shocking to see One Direction, Nicki Minaj and Thicke on a supposedly 'classic' channel. And I'm afraid those videos were scheduled intentionally.

Besides, I really don't see it as a good move to ditch classic britpop videos in favor of more Lionel Richie and other cheese, although this is obviously a matter of personal taste.
Not to mention that seeing Mariah Carey videos approximately every 45 minutes is pure torture.

It's not that they've ditched classic rock and britpop, but at certain times MTV Classic used to play it to the exclusion of other genres of music; especially during the "Kller Anthems" slot. Now there seems to be a better variety of tracks from all genres, which still includes some classic rock/britpop.

I agree about Mariah, I'm not a fan of her high pitched screeching!

Which independent music channel will MTV buy and ruin next? That vintage TV will be next on the buy list and the vault. Then you can tell when they do take over by the change of music to rubbish.

It was not the borrowed countdown from VH1 I wonder?? As during those "decades" they featured Olly Murs and Emeli Sande .... comes more across this MTV lot have no clue about the "decades" as once were WTF?

Warsaw Shore - coming soon to MTV UK (straight after the Geordies are finished )
