I guess Classic used to play more rock/britpop because it was scheduled by the same guy who used to be in charge of MTV Rocks prior to the recent changes, so I believe that was his idea of "classic".
Maybe it's just me, but I've only noticed an increase in mainstream pop so far, I don't see that much variety, just fewer britpop videos in favor of the usual overrated/overplayed US pop hits from back in the day. And whenever they play something slightly more dance-oriented, that's usually Olive's "You're Not Alone" - not a day goes by without it being played a few times on Classic.

Anyway, maybe I just picked the wrong times to watch the channel. Or I just don't have enough patience anymore!

God keep Vintage TV the way it is .... MTV can take a hike on that .... that is my NEW VH1 channel away from some of this crap of today ... glad its available at least. I am just more shocked at how bad MTVNHD (MTV LIVE HD) has now become ... I honestly thought that was one station completely different from the MTV family (Ok it was broadcasting originally from Poland?) but since UK control it has just turned into the same drivel channel that has the same stuff on that they show on their other channels .... where exactly is variety MTV?? I see no variety on their channels but if your older than 25+ your thrown to the side and all things are catered for the "young" generation ... yes I wonder how long it is lasting??

Besides, I really don't see it as a good move to ditch classic britpop videos in favor of more Lionel Richie and other cheese, although this is obviously a matter of personal taste.
Not to mention that seeing Mariah Carey videos approximately every 45 minutes is pure torture. ”

I've no doubt they were scheduled intentionally. It's just head shaking to see them on MTV Classic - even Vault show current/very recent 'tunes' these days.

How about a bit of Mariah with Westlife?

It could be, but your post made me think - if VH1 and MTV Classic have swapped programmers, then MTV Classic now have a programmer that doesn't know the difference between 00's and 10's and maybe now VH1 can make a comeback to the good old days.....

I can understand the young generation. The youngsters I work with - it's natural for them to like current music - however I work alongside people 25-30 and they love Tinie Tempah and 2 Chainz and they always talk about it

I'll reserve my judgement on VH1 til I see it .... if anything for starters ... they could SCRAP the bombardment of the MTV sh.t of the Geordies for a start THEN i'll tune in!

I think if you look at the mainstream media outlets (beside Vintage TV and the rock channels and stations), we're seeing a VERY limited scope on music and even artists.

Some artists e.g Rihanna, Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry are automatically guaranteed hits and attention regardless. The styles of music are pretty much the same and very generic. Songs played are limited. Nothing new or adventorous, just VERY samey. What is so appealing about Ms Perry's new single? Heard it before and nothing new. Will be forgotten about 10 years from now.

As mentioned there is a lot of songs from late last year/early this year being hammered to death even now.

Are we in a new age of control? Only "ALLOWED" songs and artists can be played?

Its weird in a sense you could possibly go into a shopping centre and they play a mix of songs be from today to the past (Ok it aint a music channel) but at least they seem to make more of an effort at times than stick to the same crap day in day out!

Kinda ironic really .... VH1 was more of a "vintage" station and should bloomin well know that ... it shouldn't be looking towards "vintage tv" for inspiration! .... that is the PROBLEM its like they have to stick to the same old songs played to death and can't venture into "unknowns" or be if that slag them off in having a crap song or it being classed as something like "worst song ever" ..... yeah right and back then YOU LOT played them .... basically the networks are being hypocrites!

and as for Vintage TV could not agree more .... I tune into that more if I am watching a programme in between ads than the MTV/Bauer lot!

Why doesn't VIVA just become an entertainment channel or better disband? Stupid. Glad I deleted the channels. Might ask if I can get Freesat installed when I get the tenancy renewed next month, am I missing much bar Vintage and Heart TV?

As for Clubland with the German Dance list - LOL!!! I know We're all EU nationals and Germany invaded us in WW2 and lost but they're NOT German!! Like saying Paellea is a dish from Northern Ireland!

Get a multi-sat dish - Deluxe Music at 19.2'E makes even Vintage TV look a bit narrow (you can watch online at http://deluxemusic.tv/en/ ) and gotv has decent programmes too (Hosted by... can be interesting if you like the artists).

If your into you cheesy 90s and early 00s pop then The Vault can bring back a few songs you've not heard in years

I guess Scrubs must be ending on E4 (its on Comedy Central Extra last time I looked) and an old BBC show (well BBC 3 show) .... VIVA is definately going down in my estimations .... Brickleberry/Crash Canyon is the only 2 shows i'll give them credit for but what a crap channel it has become as mentioned why not just make it an MTV2 channel? Another channel for MTV crap or better yet rename VIVA "MTV Shows"

"music will end an hour earlier" - what music is that top 40 or the same old countdowns? - this station plays music from 9am! so its now a 9am-3pm "music" station - may as well scrub the music and just put on "shows"

This an MTV channel that has TELESHOPPING on supposedly from 3am-9am why not just run teleshopping til 3pm and then run "entertainment" such a shame

From next Sunday VH1 are broadcast the Official Chart Update each Sunday at 9pm. Perhaps the scheduler doesn't know that the new chart is revealed at 7pm on Sundays, meaning a repeat of the mid week chart 2 hours later is pointless. 9am might have been better..

Eh? come on now VH1 your doing a countdown BASED on the 90's and not the 00's

guess VH1 took the effort for "missing" songs and stuck in fillers of the 00's ..... who is MTV/VH1 employing here .... again no research has been done kinda reminds me of the 90's vs 00's and they ended up at one point having a song from Olly Murs (feat Flo-rida) playing .... maybe they should have played a Flo-rida song instead of Olly Murs don't you think? Forget the investigation - someone needs the sack and this has happened more than on one occasion .... hire people who have a CLUE about music (not just sticking to the tired fad of X Factor acts etc) and know their research!
