VH1 is really getting ran into the ground lets be honest ... you just have to tune into a programme thats meant to be related to a "theme" and they still bugger it up and as I know I keep moaning about but still no upgrade since MTV's was updated over a month or so its beyond pathetic - Maybe its time for some of these channels to close - as by looking tonight I seen the same song on about 4 channels within an hour (John Newman - Need You) (like the song but come on that is what is WRONG with these channels its the same songs stuck on a rota)
Maybe they will upgrade VH-1 and Magic after the Christmas graphics have finished.

Blissmas is on yet most of their programming is Christmas titled programs with New Year party songs - barely touched Christmas songs yet, although that's not necessarily a bad thing, it is more bad advertising, a bit like most things in the music industry I suppose.

On another note, Planet Pop keep playing the top 20 girls of 2013 - in their somewhere is Nelly - no, not Furtado, but Nelly.....they've shown in it numerous times over the past few weeks yet they haven't corrected it.

Is there something I don't know about Nelly?

Yeah again could be right but I think it would have been alot better if they had just updated at same time as MTV - but i'll guess MTV will have a new MTV design to cover christmas (last year on MTV it was there logo "rolled" with a christmas tree) whilst VH1's changes colour (green to blue) - real imagination right there!

but look at it in another way surely if it had been updated now we would see the new look christmas designs for the channel not leaving it to 2014-15

Possibly someone on their system has made Nelly default instead of Nelly Furtado

Its like with VH1 couple months ago - 90's v 00's countdown Olly Murs appears (but song features Flo-rida) so who exactly are we meant to be counting on this?? If it was Flo-Rida (they should have chosen a different song) but if it was for Olly he had no relevance to the chart (pretty sure someone mentioned even Emeli Sande appeared in it! Its possibly lazy researching)

MTV seem to have scaled down the font size of the programme name on the graphics now. Looks better.

Seems like the "titles" have gone from certain channels ... i'll take it all of them are getting "resized" and applied to all the MTV channels (weird that?)

I was a bit naffed off with this countdown tonight, I assumed they were PLAYING the full 99 hits but this lot decide to "skip" tracks WHY??

TWO examples I spotted (can't remember the numbers in countdown)

Voiceover mentions Will Smith aka Fresh Prince and his song "boom shake the room" (I thought yay good to see it and what the hell ... they skip it!)

NEXT example - the "up next" appears and says in words to effect "the chart hits a LOW point in the countdown" - so I clicked Flo-rida's "low" was going to be played and what did these geniuses do SKIP!! - seriously why do something like this and skip songs YOU (meaning 4Music or whoever done it) don't want played??

but the UP NEXT and giving away what was going to be played OR skipped really annoyed me tonight, I was more naffed that Will Smith got skipped (unsure if Men In Black got played as I switched off afterwards)

VIVA is much closer to 4Music this week, and MTV Music has overtaken Magic to become the Number 1 pure music channel, possibly helped by the MTV EMAs taking place.

NOW continues to do well compared to other channels located towards the end of the Music section, perhaps the famous brand name is helping.

But how long will this schedule last before Teleshopping inevitably comes to MTV Live?

Surprised since under UK control it has not gone that way ... i'll give it 18 months or so before the unthinkable becomes the thinkable

Surprised they are applying this late night schedule to Live but they seem they can't afford to do it to their normal sister stations .... oh I forgot the Teleshopping gives them some income to live on ... silly me (roll eyes not at you lol)

Ok we are all in the spirit of Christmas ... but was watching some of it tonight - what an embarassment

Mud - Lonely This Christmas - 1974
Destiny's Child - Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer - 2004
Band Aid 20 - Let Them Know Its Christmas 2004

Seriously what relevance are these songs to the 90's and what exactly is "disco" about the Band Aid song especially but after tonight I believe VH1 has lost its integrity with this shambles of a playlist - again its meant to be THEMED to a decade is it not or are the controllers that useless and they think chucking on any song is to fit?

Time for VH1 to go - I have definately had enough of it (this was a half decent channel back in its hey day, it could never fault it but now its utterly terrible and this whole "research" is no mistake if this is weekly, but I forget VH1 has no focus and MTV is the main for everything now

MTV Classic is now MTV XMAS. The song titles have been updated and now show the Album and Year again which is useful.

The VH1 logo has turned red but without snow on top like in some previous years.

Maybe the Christmas playlist launched the night before it should have.

Pathetic really for something thats meant to be "90's" ... I could let the Mud song slide in a way as pretty sure that would have been played on a Fri/Saturday night in clubs back then but still does not excuse them using songs from 2004! (or are we meant to forgive them that they lost the original Band Aid 80's or Band Aid II 90's have got lost in archive but 2004 is the closest they could play?)

Its so blantly obvious that whoever is in control of VH1 now is really scraping barrels with the channel - there is no proper thought into its playlists or the countdowns and keeping it "relevant" but lets not forget this has happened more than ONCE so there is no excuse for it!

Oh since I am on about VH1 yes the red logo is back I did note during the ad break the logo looks well "stretched" for it being "widescreen" now (but after ads logo returns to normal shape) another fault with this lot

EDIT: I have no issue with the christmas songs, my issue with VH1 is that its the researching of videos (or lack of) is what is bugging me - this was a channel that knew its music and even its decades but now its becoming more of an MTV channel ran by idiots - VH1 demographic is certainly not aimed at us who grew up in the 80's (before/after) as they bloomin well advertise MTV boll..cks "valleys" "geordies" and little investment forward for the brand - they may as well rename VH1 or just get rid of it as its definately a channel that has got me turning off (similar to the MTV stations barely watch them but I thought since VH1 was having a rebrand there would be life brought back to it .... obvious no rebrand (yet advertise it on MTV site ) and nothing new to it. Still the same old and same pathetic playlisting of songs relevant to the countdowns/programmes - can't take VH1 seriously anymore either ... same goes with MTV - TV channels ran by idiots for idiots its seems like!

VH1 are showing the "Xmas Top 10 of 2001", but it definitely isn't the real Xmas chart from 2001. Tracks such as 'PPK - Resurrection' and 'Ian van Dahl - Will I' have been replaced, and even worse, The Tweenies didn't feature either.

Is it my imagination but isn't that the same background since the last update before Music Television had just became plain MTV?

double checked looks more like it is to me - there is one for MTV Dance that its "shaken" with MTV Dance in the middle of the ball ... not much "new" then for that update apart from a temp rebrand to MTV Xmas (funny that as mentioned shows you how quick an MTV named channel is able to be rebranded without issue but VH1 is stuck in 2008)

So whats the point of it then if they ain't showing the songs that charted that year at christmas?? MTV/VH1 are they attempting to rewriting music "history" ?? - If they are its one way of losing viewers and again lucky enough google is there so people can check the chart then. I just can't believe VH1 has done this - let me guess when they show christmas chart of 2010 onwards all songs will stay intact - MTV/VH1 you are ripping people off now - yep money does talk

I noticed more channels playing Christmas music this morning. How did Justin Bieber go onto Christmas playlist I never know but that is silly.

A lot of channels are playing non Christmas music in their Christmas shows (NOW playing Katy Perry a lot).

I understand them playing the songs that were number 1 at Christmas that are not Christmas songs (Ex Factor, Spice Girls, etc) even though I don't like it and think Christmas programmes should be solely Christmas songs, not songs at Christmas unless the programme specifies it - it's ambiguous.

Channels have been doing what VH1 have been doing for ages and missing songs out. No matter what the programme title, you can expect it not to be as straightforward as that title suggests and they'll throw in the usual golden boys and girls of pop.

I watch far less these days as if you want to know what's been played that day, you just tune in for an hour and it pretty much tells you all you need to know.

Last night at 10pm VH1 had this:

Ghosts of Christmas Past: Top 20
Sadly these legendary artists have passed away, but their music will live on forever! Stay tuned for a classic selection of holiday hits from the crypt.
I saw Chris Rea - Driving Home for Christmas and The Darkness - Christmas Time.

When did Chris Rea die? And who from The Darkness has passed away?

Pretty terrible stuff..
