I preferred it when the music channels were more dedicated to their own genres. MTV Base and MTV2 were specialised to r and b/rap and rock respectively. I used to like Trevor Nelson's show the The Lick as it had an informative sense of music and it focused on less commercial acts. MTV2 used to have a programme called 'unseen and unclean' where it showed alternative videos in their entirety. You used to see acts like Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin videos.
I also preferred it when VH1 had their own channels like VH1 classic. |

I also preferred it when VH1 had their own channels like VH1 classic. I remember MTV2 had "Gonzo" not my type of music being honest but I thought that was a "specialist" programme (correct me anyone) but thats all these channels really do is repeat nearly same "themes" all day and nearly every weekend but it looks like MTV (main) has basically crap shows on it MTV Live has turned into the other sister stations really apart from live gigs/shows (gone same route of playing nearly the same songs as on the other sister stations) - MTV Music is basically a pointless channel and is far as I see is basically MTV making a mockery of what they stood for and again is basically MTV Hits/Live put together - and VH1 as far as I see its became a channel that use to know all the FACTS about music have all of sudden have no real idea on FACTS on anything (ie putting wrong songs in a themed chart/programme or the most famous one NOW is saying that Chris Rea has passed yet he is pretty much ALIVE) but if you asked MTV who are the cast of Geordie Shore or programming I am pretty sure they will be on the ball , shows you really in less or more than a decade how dumbed down these channels have become

Today's blunder:
Should Have Been a 90s Xmas Number 1 (VH1 again) 10. G4 - Silent Night (2006) 9. Westlife - What Makes A Man (2000) 8. The Darkness - Christmas TIme (2003) 7. Bo Selecta - Proper Crimbo! (2003) 6. Wham! - Last Christmas (1984) 5. David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy (1982) 4. Mel & Kim - Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree (1987) 3. Sugababes - New Year (2000) 2. Destiny’s Child - Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer (2004) 1. Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You (1994) A good reason that 9 of these tracks weren't a 90s Number 1 is the fact they weren't even released in the 90s. |

I have done one to them and I went on a rant with it - think everyone on here should follow suit as its beyond pathetic how VH1 can go from a great channel to basically a run down channel ran by what I could say is staff with an IQ of a peanut who care for nothing more than to promote the Geordies or Beauty School Cop Outs ![]() EDIT: can someone email them to get their fingers out and UPGRADE VH1 since they have the new design on site and yet still no effect on the station (but MTV can be rebranded without much issue) and point out to them the new design has been up for past couple months so why no change? |

Yes, VH1 US looks pretty good even though it's mainly celebrity/reality shows.
Other good VH1s which blend music and Entertainment shows are India and Brazil. Unfortunately the European VH1 channels have really suffered in recent years, the UK version in particular, with no real programmes and only poor music video charts filing the schedules. |

its more annoying to a degree that if your in a decade PLAY songs from that decade not go off on one and play songs from 80's, 00's etc which have little relevance to the programmeI'll agree on VH1 US is celeb/reality shows but surely VH1 could do something on the UK version? Its like VH1 UK/Europe has little attention for any programming but it tells its viewers go pop over to MTV which has little for the older generation at all |

VH1 - SHOULDA BEEN XMAS #1's 90's
I didn't watch it in full but I wonder if my rant made them realise that they aint stupid as first thought??
I noticed the likes of Celine Dion, Bon Jovi and even Lutricia McNeal! all RELEVANT (I admit I only seen it from #8-#6) but was surprised that it looked to me no errors! So if they can actually play a chart that I seen without errors its a first EDIT: it was a top 10 countdown of shoulda been christmas #1's (this chart was on today on VH1) |

You're beginning to sound like that guy in the Radio forum who is obsessed with Heart segues. Stop watching VH1 if it winds you up so much.

Vh1 Europe has new promos and a new slogan: 'VH1, Home of More'. Looking very good and there's also Vh1 News every hour. Though the promos have the new Vh1 'plus'-look, they still have the old logo at the end so don't think any of the European VH1 channels are going to use the new U.S. logo.

I think they might switch to the new "+" logo after Christmas, but have introduced the new promos early. It would be strange to keep the old logo but update everything else to the new US style. Let's hope that VH1 UK sees some improvement in the new year, and has its own promos again instead of advertising MTV all the time! It's great to hear of some positive changes at VH1 Europe, and VH1 News on the hour too.. the UK channel used to do that a couple of years ago.

I agree with all the above mentioned but i'll hold my breath on the actual upgrade - we will probably feel we are hyping up an "overdue" upgrade and in new year will fail to materialise. VH1 needs a major overhaul lets be honest - themed programming/countdowns are hardly accurate and maybe someone will actually take notice? But I doubt it.

I would like to see Blur - Song on the UK VH1, Simple solution is to copy and paste VH1 Europe lineup to VH1 UK.
Can't do that .... they probably have less clue how to "copy and paste" a playlist! ![]() It was looking at the promo highlighted and they are one band they use to play alot on VH1 UK but now nothing! Much like the VH1 playlist really just stuck on a never ending rota nothing exactly "new" to show (well songs that make you go ... have not seen that in a while!) or actually something like Motown and even Disco of the 70's! VH1 is just playing "safe" with everything, pity it doesn't count on the MTV ads does it? (watch the Geordies get wasted and "slammed" on ALL NEW GEORDIE SHORE at 10pm - wow really?? Where is OFCOM when you need them?? )

Magic have messed up tonight the graphics are half missing and the title of the show is covering up Noddy's face while he is trying to present.
You would think when they filmed it they would have remembered the graphics would be in the top right of the screen. |
