I would say my 4 daughters were the fans (they have literally hundreds of DVD's recorded (and my boy wouldn't admit it anyway) - i'm more a fan of the visual side, but as pop stars go, she is one of the best performer wise.

I think my girls prefer the music after the meltdown. Womanizer is the one they sing the most, so it must be that...although Perfume was a big hit with them too. I prefer '3' just for the video

It will be repeated again, i'm sure. These stations don't usually put together a programme and only show it 2 or 3 times.

Bloomin channel seems more up to date with songs of here and now but anything in the past less cared about - I thought it was maybe a "remix" when it said 2009 but it was the original song/video and there is nothing on Wikipedia to say it had been "re-released" in 2009 so where 2009 has came from I don't know

Are you meaning the satellite stream? If so you're thinking of it from a different angle to how I'm sure they thought of it. It will have been purely a business decision. Whichever stream was cheapest to run is the one they will go for.

Also, the Chartshow transponder is really crowded so one less channel on that transponder is actually a good thing.

Their average bitrates are only about 1.6Mb/s which is very low.

Sort of reminds me when I used to record UKHot40 and what would happen is the chart would start like 10 minutes or sometimes even longer so when you got near the end it would finish before you could listen to #1 (either mid-way through #2 or #1 or during adverts before top 2)

Also, why are there adverts before the top 2 songs on charts, seems pointless

And the charts say there is no video for Selfie, Let It Go when there actually is and that extremely annoys me and they cut off the end of songs, especially the end of Say Something when it gets to the climax, it annoys me so much

I noticed today on MTV Hits they are running "MTV Essentials" series and like mentioned above cutting off songs (I actually thought it was automated but its not .... basically a programme manually compiled together and cut off songs early if need be)

MTV Essentials could be sign of fading out music videos and creeping in more programs.

If Bauer don't have the video, they will say they have no video, even though Clubland havd had it for weeks.

MTV are the worst - they usually get videos much later than other companies. They also say they can't play certain videos on a family show but end up playing worse anyway.

In The Mix: March was back to back In The Mix - they still play In The Mix on other days, just not as much, bar Mondays which are In The Mix Mondays.

I like the Cascada one but none of the othere and I guess fans of Example etc will like that too. The ones longer than an hour (Calvin Harris, Guetta etc) are too long.

Most of them should not be on a dance channel anyway - Beyonce, Rihanna etc and they used to have Katy Perry and 1Direction too

But if True Entertainment+1 is replacing it then people won't notice any change in picture quality.

Thats all we need is the end of "music videos" to being played to be replaced by more crap programming.

Why does MTV not invest in half decent music shows? Why not bring back interactivity to the public? (and none of this site voting on who is the best etc - beats the point and probably its MTV staff choose who they want as "favourites")

Thats where Bauer have the upper hand (I don't have CSC channels so can't say) but with 4Music they are in a way having interactivity with the viewer with requests and polls downside of it is its all "current" pretty sure if you requested something like La Bouche "Be My Lover" you would be told video unavailable or be slagged off on it or not playing it as its "old" (song is random and I do play it admittedly ) - but this is what I mean by variety but all these channels are stuck to is playing the same playlists and nothing more!

I did note over weekend all I seen on ALL MTV/Bauer channels were just countdowns come on you can do BETTER than that!

I know this is in relation to CSC channels but that IS the problem with the likes of MTV Dance (Base depends) but its bad enough when MTV Dance has The Wanted on the channel but come on - these channels need to define what they actually stand for - its the same music on all their channels! (MTV)

MTV Dance - should be strictly Dance music - scrap all "crossovers" and artists ie Enrique/Tweedy etc - kindly get rid! (maybe be more interactive ie weekender?)
MTV Base - just stick to Base and yes play the likes of Flo-Rida/Usher/Pitbull
MTV Rocks - just rename it back to MTV2!
VH1 - play more 70's music and more on playlist and more variety and get this revamp over and done with!
MTV - can't make an half assed attempt to comment on that...
VIVA - basic MTV clone channel, now running as a dump channel for Comedy Central as well - music is less now (does anyone see MTV slowly breaking through here??)
MTV Hits - weird on MTV Essentials they put on songs like NSync "I want you back" from the past but yet the channel itself does not touch the songs yet its a "hits" channel
MTV Live - give the channel more of a "rocky" edge now its gone way to poppy for my liking now - how much chart pop does one channel need? (MTV Hits 2)
MTV Music - name of channel is one of the dumbest things they have ever to come out with - really? Thats what they stood for before they rebranded as "entertainment" and again its just another MTV Hits channel apart from playing "MTV Essentials" the odd countdown and the odd MTV Live performances - why and whats the point?
Overall all these channels are basically repeating shows from their other channels (including countdowns) time to cut these down and merge and add more viewer interactivity thats the problem as well as scrap "teleshopping"!!

and also add MTV needs to STOP plaguing the viewers with constant bombardment of their shows (if its not advertised on top right hand side of screen - there is an ad for it as well) but it does not help if your watching VH1 and they advertise MTV just please STOP - if we are watching VH1 then give us something to watch on VH1 not MTV or is that the point? VH1 is turning into another MTV clone where the magical world is nothing more than MTV - it'll backfire in time and this to is part of the decline it is one channels BOOST but for the rest to fall on its ass and they are doing well!

The difference is MTV channels have a future on the sky guide. They have more depth in programming and live concerts and HD.

Bauer and CSC have little future maybe The Box and Chart Show TV will be around in ten years but the others won't.

If Bauer pulled the plug CSC might be next or if CSC did they may go. There's no need for all these music channels given they all show the same crap. The format is finished and they would be far better with one new music channel and one older video channel with mixed music.

But most genres have too many channels on Sky so I reckon these channels will go on endless until viewing figures become so small they don't make any profit. They are all owned by large companies which have entertainment channels they can focus on if they pull the plug on multiple music channels.

MTV may still have a future but for how long - that can't keep churning out the same crap day in, day out.

I thought I could adjust to the new look Box I hate it - close Smash Hits would be a start!

4Music is definately like E4 extra but its a channel to thats turned crap .... if music tv is in that much of a decline how is providing other programming helping? Your going to cause more viewers to switch off and to further decline or it will last short term but in the long term it won't

If they want just scrap the whole lot and keep MTV, VH1, The Box like back in the good ol days - it would get those in control to get their fingers out and do a more of a decent job than what they are doing now

MTV Live - really? I can't next step will be "telehopping" appearing on there next and so far is the only MTV channel that is not carrying it - If MTV Live actually improves it music then it has a future but in my opinion it does not and again its playlist is similar really to MTV Hits, if its future is just because it has an HD channel it needs to provide more content - why not show "classic" live performances?? - Was it MTV Rocks that had played Nirvana Unplugged? Why has that not appeared on there? (correct me) I took MTV Live was a channel for Live shows but all the Live shows I see is like "behind the scenes" of videos/Essentials/Countdowns and nothing more that to me is not a Live music channel is it? - surely its a channel for Live music content only but its not (again its like watching MTV Hits but its in "stunning" HD)

Ah right. A lot of boys are probably closet Britney fans A lot of my friends say they don't like her but they probably do, they're just not gonna admit it because they don't think it's 'cool' to like Britney. I bet you love watching the videos with the sound off I like both pre and post-meltdown music, but I tend to listen to all the albums anyway. The songs I listen to depend on the mood I'm in and where I am when I'm listening to them. I'm A Slave 4 U and Work Bitch happen to be favourites of mine at the moment I also have loads of unreleased Britney songs that never made the albums. A lot of them are really good. I'm not fond of Perfume or the new album. Some of the songs on it are ok but the rest are just meh. Can't you tell I'm a massive Britney fan?

By the time there's less music channels I think we will be at a point where SD is being switched off. Music videos look good in HD on MTV Live and off course YouTube.

Well lets put it this way apart from MTV HD/MTV Live HD - you mention videos look good in HD on MTV Live but this is a channel that has more up to date music on it ... it does not show anything from the past - hence why I asked where are the classic live performances of the 80-90's VMA/EMA's as examples, its a Live Music channel. MTV Live in itself has turned into another MTV Hits clone but with HD thats it.

Youtube maybe winning this to a degree but these channels look well out of place if it is being beaten - Entertainment will not last long on these channels - they know it, I just expect there will be closures coming.

Question should be asked is where is the investment going into "music" these days? All these channels ever care about is doing polls on artists - whether you like or hate them etc, but yet they can't provide half decent shows to do with music other than have interviews or live performances and running countdowns? But they rather throw the money on cheap telly such as the "reality" dross thats filling the UK airwaves, it says more of what as we as a society have become and I do find it in a way rather sad.

The channels probably get a set rate for advertising for a group of channels? However ones with lower viewing figures have been replicated. Again these networks have entertainment channels the likes of 4Music is almost like E4 Gold or Classic.

Music tv has been neglected for a few years and they don't listen to what people want. Linear tv as a whole is changing and people are more choosy of how they watch with more things like on demand or Sky Go. Music videos have been less important in general since falling cd sales and the axe of Top of the Pops.

Aslong as there's still music videos being made there's going to be music channels. There will be less though people simply are not watching music tv these days. Plus the fact the average viewer only watches a channel for a few minutes they are channel hop stations so they will always struggle. Same with breaking news channels people don't watch them as often unless there's big news.

As for MTV Live being recent that's the idea I think. Will get viewers an older channel might not but post music video era maybe after 9pm MTV Classic could launch in HD showing se older MTV performances?

If that was to happen surely VH1 can also be used as an HD channel but then again they are hardly investing on that channel anyway as its still stuck in 2008!
