Oh that I totally agree with MTV Live since UK control has became a poor channel in my mind way too much "pop" on there, where has its "edge" went? I see their Nick HD content (remember their was animation on weekend mornings) has completely walked off.

VIVA needs moved it aint music, entertainment it ain't its basically a cloned MTV, just waiting for this channel to air Geordie Shore, Valleys next

Much better than the mishmash of CSC with cheesy pop occupying The Vault (once a good channel about 2004!) and sinking low buying up tacky channels like Starz TV. Bauer is all recent pop other than Kerrang.

MTV now is miles better than the mid 00's about 2005 where they felt programming was the way forward. Yes a lot of the music shows have been axed in that time but they offer a lot more than the rest. Majority of there channels are quite uncluttered these days too.

If only other networks set the standard MTV had. We might have Chart Show TV HD and The Vault remastering 80's videos in some form of upscaled HD. If only?”

MTV maybe a better network out the whole lot of them ie Bauer etc but the playlists need to actually cater to what the channel stands for, in my opinion there is far too much of the same songs/artists playing on the channels - I would say a channel like MTV Dance should just play dance music and dance artists alone, not some sort of mix and match, ie Flo-Rida, Jason Derulo even tweedy too! (examples) they should be more on MTV Base not MTV Dance (tweedy keep her on hits she can't DANCE nor SING!)

The only downfall with MTV I find is a) the neglect of VH1 b) heavy bombardment of advertising for MTV shows on other channels ie VIVA/VH1 (why?) c) as mentioned playlisting - MTV does not make much music programming unless they put it on MTV Live or MTV Music then in time move it over to say MTV Hits. d) teleshopping on ALL their channels (exc MTV Live) - please get rid even Bauer stops teleshopping on certain channels say on a Fri/Sat night (weird how they can "turn off" yet MTV can't?), teleshopping on these channels gives more of an impression to me as if the channels are cheap

It may look uncluttered but at same time its coming more across as lazy and not making much effort towards music other than concentrating on "reality" tat.

If entertainment is their main goal than music, surely they should be taking their own "hint" close down channels or is it their "income" is worrying them??

I caught last night on MTV Music (still hate that name of a channel) but it had "the official streaming chart of the year .... so far" (can't remember how many songs it was 40 or 100), but isn't these "streaming" charts just started? Baffles me you can have a countdown already for "streaming" yet not long ago they were just launched!

Streaming chart has just started, but maybe they've counted back to the beginning of the year.

MTV Hits had a great chart last night - something like Biggest Selling Girls (or maybe Pop) of the year so far - Top 20.

To start the show - Sam Bailey.....at number 21!

Surely then it should just be downloads instead of "streaming" - I would find this personally invalid since it really just started (if it had been on since january I would have said OK but to show it already beats the point with me sadly)

Let me guess next all these channels will have a "dance streaming" chart next .... here we go another countdown of the same songs once more apart from this time it ain't under Downloads or Top 40, these channels are sinking lower and lower

LOL top 20 err.... 21!, they'll blame that on computer glitch

They'll try and get away with anything.

I think it was Bauer a couple of weeks ago that ran a chart - top 50 or 100, maybe the Smash Hits 200 songs of the decade, got down to number 2, played that.....and then they went to the next programme, missing out number 1. Classic.

You ain't kidding - it was weird when I seen Jason Derulo - Talk Dirty and seen it been called a "streaming" chart was going wtf? It's been launched couple weeks ago and suddenly you have a chart?

Missing out the number 1 LOL wow how can you not spot that?? (I mean who made up the 200) , I think I have caught a bit of that chart but again back in the day I would be interested but now it does nothing for me.....

Does anyone agree that Bliss has gone downhill since they introduced 21st Century Bliss , All I ever seem to see on it is lots of Beyonce , Katy Perry , Taylor Swift , Rihanna , Justin Timberlake , Fergie how boring , all of these are on The Vault all the time anyway seems pointless to have this channel when The Vault is much the same time to rid of it....

It's bizarre - too many charts on music TV.

Making up a 200 is hard enough, especially as it was all over the place - some weird choices as to what Britney etc's biggest songs were - Piece of me was her highest I think and it was the same for many other artists.

As i've said before, it is The Vault II - it's all the same artists and songs.

Although I didn't like the old Bliss with the mamby pamby stuff they played, they still played lesser known artists which meant it was different.

At least they play less Take That and Olly Murs now.

Even Take That and Olly murs are rubbish lol.

Bliss was better when they had the gold logo they had more mellow and good music from the 80s and 90s and early 2000s like Vanessa Williams , Reo Speedwagon , Seal , Savage Garden , Eurythmics/Annie Lennox , Dido , Dina Caroll , Bryan Adams , Imogen Heap on it.

I wonder how many songs were not within this decade or did they add songs from the 00's to fit it in?

Yeah I meant they are rubbish

Those days are long gone. Even the days with Leddra Chapman etc are gone.

I think the amount of charts on these music channels sums up three things:

1) Its a dying medium with Youtube and Spotify
2) Taking away the public choice element all because a few individuals want to abuse it means everything is now controlled.
3) Their sole aim is a space filler.

The music channels would only work if you allowed the public have more of a say. Ofcom should let go after seven years and reinstate it back.

Ofcom aren't stopping music channels from running interactive playlists etc, channels like Starz still do, and Clubland/AKA at certain times.

1) I believe so .... but its "entertainment" value is pointless since most channels these days are doing exactly the same

2) I find this has been the downfall with the Bauer/MTV channels ie MTV Dance "Weekender" The Box/Kiss - interactive playlists

OFCOM I think should really look into these networks properly not just MTV/Bauer but look at channels such as History - its just the same crap day in day out

Thing is OFCOM do not care unless there is a nipple on the screen before 10pm.

Too many channels on TV and its slowly dying off. Bauer made a mistake giving into OFCOM and therefore are paying for it.

Your right there I'll give you that!

I still think some channels should close or basically merge, still surprised why OFCOM allows these channels to carry "teleshopping" is beyond me as post 2000 it was 24/7 music.

I think both MTV/Bauer are paying for it really - MTV and its scripted to the extreme tat whilst on Bauer we have on 4Music its car crash Kardashians .... what a wonderful world we live in

I am really sad about MTV Classic lately, It has become a mix of modern music, 00s and 90s countdowns outside mixtape and late night. The only benefit to this is Vintage TV.

Bauer didn't give in to OFCOM, it was entirely their own decision to phase out video voting. OFCOM never banned it and that's why other channels still do it

I think a lot of record companies have a lot of sway on what stands. Look how stale radio is in the UK - same few songs on repeat and anyone on a small label or daring to be different gets zero exposure.

As for the Kardashians - money for nothing. Should be forced to give their money away.

I'm so happy for Kim Kardashian marrying Kanye West and fathering his child.

Two idiots together (and all because his obsession with Beyonce never worked out)

Record labels do have a monopoly, sadly.

Its sad in a way that these channels lower themselves to this standard mind in saying that ITV are just as bad flogging that TOWIE lot Channel 4 its Chelsea and MTV you have a choice of the "valleys" or the "geordie shore" , yep says alot for today's society and how some out there are driven for "stardom" give it at least a decade all this will be out and something else new in but the "entertainment" value to these channels is really bland - basically jumped ship before it sank and another one is coming around the corner will they sink? Possibly....
