Thats is the saddest part if your music hits the charts (from 80's) we won't play "too old" (Bauer I believe said this not MTV in these threads .... correct me), is this the attitude an "old" song is in the charts refuse to play it, I can understand if there was no video but video is available but you chose not too? Record labels have to take blame in this charade - as variety is being sucked up that much that we get dumped with "modern" old skool/classics (wtf that means I will never know) but the proper old skool gets shoved further back to teleshopping time or weekend play .... so in other words if your old enough to remember this track WAIT, no wonder they lose out on viewers

What we are seeing now is a creative wasteland. Its all a money making exercise not a creativity exercise.

I don't know whether its the internet age, but it seems performers want to be famous. Music is second place and record producers and companies believe that if you are female showing your vagina and being promiscious is the key. Male, either look sexually ambigiuous (Harry Styles and various new boyband members) or be a thug (Chris Brown).

Music is the same few notes and chords, and all the dance music now is a joke. No melody or key strucuture just a few identicial beats being copied by everyone else. Lyrics have to be about sex, party and money. A bit rich considering the UK is in financial crap. If you are Brits, after one album screw the UK be American not European and sell out.

It does feel a controlled environment but I do not begrudge those who shy away from being commercial, have a #89 album and focus on performing and true to themselves. Thats the way to be.

As for Bauer skipping songs they don't like. In 2024 who will remember Kiesza's "Hideaway"? Answer is no-one. The commercial sector is in a creative recession. I have no 2014 albums in my collection at all.

Apart from BBC 6 Music and Capital Xtra late night.

Yes, it was just a listings error and now the full listings are back with all the usual charts like Top 50 Power Ballads, Number 1s, Pop Anthems...

Pretty much sums it up.

I do have issues with popstars singing about sex to their underage fans.

Calvin Harris and Katy Perry had how many songs from the same album reach the top 10? They broke records and why? Because once the media picked up on it, they made a huge deal of it and of course it was going to happen.

Nothing music about music anymore, with the odd exception.

Hold the front page!

Vault played Mark Morrison - Return Of The Mack and R Kelly - She's Got That Vibe, earlier.

Must be early-mid 90's?

Oh I see it being more sexualised more than ever especially on the dance/rnb side .... you spot the songs a mile off, you just need to hear the lyric and you go WTF?

A good example was Flo-Rida - Whistle, I had to hear it at least 3 times to pick up what he actually meant in the lyrics, yet look at 90's I will use Outhere Bros - Boom Boom Boom (the dirty remix) was ALWAYS played til after 9pm but now compare that to today its a "free for all" you can allow sexualised lyrics/videos through during the day but of course blame will be because its on "youtube" eerr ok but you should be leaving videos til after watershed (I had to with The Box or MTV) yet censorship these days goes out the window - what was censored back then is kept yet times change (supposedly) and they allow more uncensored vids through (or lyrics) or its quite the opposite go OTT on censoring a song for mentioning "dirty" but yet no other songs touched .... how weird ie Jason Derulo - Talk Dirty (dirty is kept) Taio Cruz - Dirty Picture (dirty was cut til after 9pm)

I do find it annoying on both sides be American or be UK/European - get big change your style and bug off

As for songs of today I still stand I think most of it sounds the same and cack - yes I admit I like Taio Cruz (no idea where he is), Jason Derulo. Tinie Tempah etc and at time I hate them changing course in style and I do question it, I always say in my head is fine go with it but don't go overboard with it - classic example of who went "tits up" on it was Taio Cruz - every song from his last release was all DANCE and I believe "fast car" flopped and irony of all was the album was never released (as far as I know and was under imports) ... sorry its a bit of a rant but it amazes me with how crap TV is getting and music too

Heat are playing some oldies tonight on What Happened Too...?

Lutricia Mcneal, Tina Moore, Shola Ama.

Usually play Cascada, but not tonight with 1 or 2 songs left to go...

Not heard Iyaz/Snoop

Pity artists you mention aint played that often on any of these channels - they only seem to appear on "one off" playlists - hint to all play some of these artists FFS!

Totally agree with BBC 6 Music which is amazing.
They have new music on their playlists, album of the day and also play wonderful alternative classics.
Not to mention fantastic music sessions by appreciated artists and from fantastic nische artists taht you can hear only on 6music.

also Xfm is very good and original.

With Channel 5 being owned by Viacom, Could we start to see trailers for fore-coming Channel 5 shows alongside MTV shows on there music channels? I hope so because Channel 5 is part of the family now.

For 30-60 minutes last night MTV Dance went wrong and were showing Beyonce and Rihanna alternately on a loop.

Think I saw a random Pink song in their too, but none of the songs are dance, so a strange loop to have.

God no! .... bad enough MTV programming - seeing channel 5 promoted on the likes of VH1 be more of a reason to avoid channel 5 too!

I always thought the point of music stations was to play music you hadn't heard before and which might interest you. What's the point of putting them on and waiting for something you already have on your mp3 player?

Just about every time I put Marc Riley's programme on I hear something new that I have to make a note of and investigate further.

And the whole line up is pop branded.

Might rename this one now too like Bliss. CSC now don't show 80's music.

Predictable - I do wonder if all these channels are heading that way? So will this channel be removed from "music" to Sky viewers or will it be moved to "entertainment" ?

Non-Music entertainment ain't going to last long, they are killing themselves off one by one

The barrels are getting well and truly scraped these days

It is a bizarre move from CSC.

They are currently playing US Online Superstars - with Psy, Esmee Denters and Carly Rae Jepsen.

They may have changed a little, but they've not eradicated the errors.

Er....none of those are American! One Korean, one Canadian and one Dutch.

I think owing to the fact that 99pc of music today is so shite, these channels will kill themselves.

Exactly - and we have 2 or 3 songs to go yet....I wonder if they will make any more errors.
