According to VH1 and Lemar's countdown, Rihanna and Ciara are both Soul artists - i've not seen much of the program, so can't comment too much on anything else.

I wouldn't even class Rihanna as an artist.

Wtf! Soul to me is people like En Vogue, Sade, Lemar himself and Diana Ross. Those two are URBAN/DANCE.

What next Rihanna as Heavy Metal?

Funny you should say that. April 1st 2012 Britney, Christina etc were on Scuzz.....it was an April fools joke having them listed and they bluffed the audience by actually playing them. I forget who Britney was up against but she was described as 'Death Metal' I think

Kiss have just started a top 100 Dance sellers of the 21st Century.

Get ready for loads of Urban dance by the sounds of things - starting with Guetta feat Usher - Little Bad Girl

Actually, it's Ludacris and Taio Cruz, those massive dance artists.
Bodyrockers -- I like the way and rui da silva --- touch me were played but I got bored

EDIT: I briefly watched Top5 Jason Derulo on MTV Base since when did "foreplay" get censored?? .... heck they may as well censor the full song (I am sure foreplay is on radio edit please prove me wrong....) heck as far as his songs go he ain't as bad as Rihanna! but is censoring going a bit far now??

song: In My Head

I think we're living in an age especially here in the UK where you can't say anything without offending. I've seen more ridiciolous censoring since 2010 than ever. I wonder why? It's time the OFCOM crew in Witney, Tatton and Wokingham moved into the 21st century or butted out. You can see why the UK has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the world.

4Music have *ahem* interesting shows: Adam Levine's Secret Diaries - Do we give a ****?

Ofcom really are deliberately out to censor television. Whenever a music channel plays "Dirty Picture" by Taio Cruz they always censor out Dirty but the title remains the same.

I think anything with a small beat is classed as dance for Urban purposes.

They are playing some dance, but most is Urban - They klep showing clips of what is in the chart - Rihanna - where have you been? Just played Cascada

They sensor everything. I understand some things, but when Britney says "Britney B.i.t.c.h" they sensor it. Funny as some channels censored it but didn't censor Christina "some days i'm a super b.i.t.c.h".

The strange thing is, they censor swearing, but don't censor lyrics that say the same thing as swearing....for example, someone can sing about making love to someone from behind, but say 'shagging' and it's not acceptable. Or "I'll break your back" or the Whistle song

It may be interesting to Maroon 5 fans but it should really be on a seperate channel, not a music channel where we want music....and it will be repeated about 26 times in the next 28 days.

OFCOM should be shut down. Nothing but a government propoganda machine.

Considering Cameron said when he got in he wanted to shut down quango's, surely OFCOM is one?

To be honest, if they could censor Kesha full stop so she didn't appear on my screen, i'd appreciate Ofcom more

Artists don't help themselves, they swear, talk sex to 12 year olds and use it all to cover their talentless asses and sell records.

Britney's If You Seek Amy, they took the k off seek and changed it to If You See Amy and the Will.I.Am colab where it's 'turn this sh..up'

If they are going to do that to sell records to cover the lack of talent (Yes, you Will.I.Am) then they deserve censoring, preferably off of my screen for good, but some of the censoring is way OTT and artist dependant.

Sadly, this is how the music industry is. The music industry today is not about talent, it's about look how desperate I am.

I think censoring slight words which mean no offence at all, is going OTT - You can't change and control the English language. 1984 might be a manifesto for OFCOM, but to the public you can not change how people talk and speak.

I think the 2010s so far is a dark ages period for music.

Well OFCOM have buggered up telly for everyone. This is why there is nothing that is risky on TV in fear it offends.

You think countries like the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden have VERY liberal attitudes and their TV takes risks. Ours, we've got to answer to some right-wingers who have too much control telling us how to live our lives.

That Flo-rida song totally baffles me in how it got/gets played as at first I wondered what he meant and had to listen to it again to catch what he meant and this was my face ....

I understand censoring words like "bitch" and anything along lines of that .... fine (but again look at daytime telly in UK bitch/slut slapper pass without issues (I guess it depends on context ... yeah right) ) but if your going for one ie music then go for TV channels ... censor words out then "not suited for daytime"

As I say, it's often artist dependant. They played Rihanna S&M earlier, in the daytime. Had that been Britney, they'd not play it. For example, last year Britney had a video for a relative unknown song - Criminal. They refused to play the song in the day as it contains gun scenes. They played Kesha 'Die Young' with gun scenes all day every day. Magic refuse to play Britney's recent songs, including '3', yet play Rihanna and Gaga and 'sex' songs. - artist dependant.

Bliss refuse to play Britney's newer songs as she is sings about sex and has dabbled with drugs briefly. Rihanna has pics of her snorting and they play an hour program of her. Beyonce gets caught out performing for Gaddaffi and they kiss her backside - face fits and all that.

Sadly, this is how the music industry is. The music industry today is not about talent, it's about look how desperate I am.

It's about money and fame. The music industry is less about music than it ever has been. This is why I don't look at the charts now unless I want to know how one of my favourite artists is doing so I can see what number on the chart I have to tune in to to watch the vid.

Yeah thats true I don't mind if broadcasters take risks in a way .... heck I thought music/TV were the best in 90's (opinions will differ I know) .... but god it felt "fun" but look at TV/music its like scraping barrels!

Flo Rida is a rip off artist that hides his relative lack of talent by singing about the same crap all the time. He is capable or rapping, but lyrically he's limited. I'm not sure on his intelligence levels, but he doesn't come across as anything but below average.

Daft thing is, you get bet that The Valleys etc has all the swear words in.

I am surprised Beyonce hasn't been banned by the respective governments of the UK and US for dealing with "terrorists". Again Sylvester, you've hit the nail on the head - the face fits.

Beyonce is controlled - she probably can't eat without Jay-Z's permission.

I've mostly given up on today's music. If there is an act I like fair play, but the rest - same old, same old. The sheep who buy the likes of that wank at #1 and "Get Lucky" are just being brainwashed by it. I'm all for new talent getting a chance e.g Jon Newman, Gabrielle Aplin, Bastille as they're all about the music and I can see the likes of Ms Aplin becoming true to herself even if the sales dried up.

It's all about egos and money. I'm now a Saturday's hater because they're too interested being all American and aiming for their crap market.

so why "play ball" for one and not another ..... baffling

I use to listen to the charts as well but now I am the same couldn't care less or if its a song I like I will just go elsewhere, something needs to be done to bring the "magic" back but will it be anytime soon? Doubt it

Thats what has naffed me off with him I liked his "earlier" stuff but now its like oh come on .... get back to what you were good at.... but again they all follow a "trend" I wonder when we will hear him get back to normal like his fellow artists. As for The Valleys of course would laugh if they put them on the day .... mind you better not give MTV ideas that'll be the next thing

IQ of a peanut

You got to give Jimmy Carr credit on 8 out of 10 cats (don't much like Jimmy being honest) but when you see the likes of someone from TOWIE appearing on there and being ripped to shred proves the point ..... either TOWIE and the likes have brains or if they are that stupid it shows quickly ..... there will be a time that all this "reality" will end anyway wonder what i'll happen to them? Possibly disappear off the face of earth as far as I care
