MTV Rocks that low?? Maybe time to close MTV Live and its HD variant?? followed by MTV Dance? (just pointing out figures for MTV and that seems pretty low out of the MTV family)
MTV Rocks doesn't actually show much rock. It's a bit like Rock FM only Rock by name.

Scuzz and (and to a certain extent) Kerrang actually do play rock music.

HD may make them put programs such as South Park and Ex On The Beach repeats on MTV Live. We get you MTV, Ruin a channel then put programs on it.

Aaah so a new league of channels have been given first run "exclusives" now .... it comes more across now as if MTV/Bauer no longer care really.

The reason why I said exclusives as I remember MTV would advertise the video on top left but you don't see that on those channels these days
I remember in the early 00s if MTV got an exclusive, quite often The Box would refuse to playlist it later on out of spite.

Looks like CS Dance is on borrowed time now, only 26,000 this week.
Yes it's inevitable that their future is indeed going to be very short also Clubland TV looks to have seen a slight rise but it's still performing rather poorly and it's almost the same as CS Dance's figures.

We need less channels on Sky too many of them showing the same crap over and over.

CS Dance won't be much of a loss as they play the same chart-dance hits on Chart Show TV and older dance videos should move into weekend strands on The Vault eg : Party Zone , Club Classics , something to make The Vault more varied instead of the wall to wall same boring pop crap that's been playing on the channel on loop for the past 6 years. While they're at it they could add some classic rock/ballads onto The Vault too and shut down Bliss which is now a waste of space cause it's essentially Chart Show TV Extra all but name now.

So there was a "hidden" agenda between those two then? I wondered I always hated it when The Box barely got updated on Cable compared to the Sky version .... Cable got the crap videos whilst Sky had videos that didn't jump I kid you not!

Bliss recorded 0.3 this week I bet Sony wonder why the bought CSC channels? Not sure it's ever recorded a figure that low!

CSC Dance also got the same, Flava 0.5, Scuzz 0.5, Vault 0.6, MTV Rocks only got 0.4 too so even that's poor for MTV.

Closures must be imminent now. I mean throughout music TV. Chart Show TV is a good performer at 1.2. Seems to me they need to shut all the spin off channels as they seem to be the worst.

The viewing figures have almost halved since I posted music threads only a year or two ago. Channels like Q, NME all shut and they got more than these channels.

MTV need to revamp MTV Rocks. It's clear to see nobody likes the current format. Rock music only works as a separate channel e.g Kerrang. Indie/alternative has to come under a different brand or just the odd song on pop channels as the other channels choose to do.

4 Music had some problems with their graphics on Sunday they where all jumbled up. I also remember that their 3 am teleshopping failed to air and they had a black screen with a VT clock for 10 mins. with a loud beeping noise.

Heart TV has butchered Madonna - Vogue video their cut is less than 3 mins whilst the original is 4:53 , is this a new trend for music TV to shorten videos ?
Heart do it to a lot of videos. Incredibly annoying.

Never seen it.

Here's a round up of all music channels (and MTV) sorted by Weekly Reach in 000s

Code:
4Music 3,464
Viva 3,131
MTV 2,220
MTV Music	966
MTV Hits	952
Magic TV	848
Smash Hits	836
The Box 804
Kiss TV 768
heat 711
Chart Show TV	680
Vintage TV	620
MTV Base	607
Kerrang!	581
VH-1 561
MTV Dance	531
MTV Live	482
Channel Starz	479
Planet Pop	457
Capital TV	402
The Vault	365
NOWM 362
Heart TV	341
MTV +1 338
Flava 302
Scuzz 293
MTV Classic	289
Channel AKA	268
MTV Rocks	260
Clubland TV	191
Bliss 186
CS Dance	166
So, did CS Dance get 26k (as previously suggested) or 166k? as above?

Don't know if I am confused after a long day...

I don't have MTV Rocks but whenever I watch it they show some Indie band like Cold Play, Bastille or Mumford & Sons. They aren't rock.

Scuzz shows 100% rock and plays loads of videos that Kerrang doesn't play and quite a few unknowns.

Rename it MTV ALT or MTV INDIE.

26k in one day I think, which isn't terrible considering it's only on Sky.

166k is it's weekly reach.

I must point out that after reading this thread and others the same people have been screaming 'Imminent Closure' from the roof tops since 2006 and they're still here.

Ah right - 26k isn't going to get a closure when you consider all the other little channels.

I don't forsee any closures soon, certainly not en mass.

The likes of BET, My Channel, Horse & Country and many more non music channels have been broadcasting for years with viewing figures of less than 10,000 a day and seem to survive.

Should be fine then.

Not sure what the comparable overheads are like though.

But what be the point of having those very programmes repeated on MTV Live HD? It wouldn't do it justice plus I was and still am under the impression the channel was meant to show mostly LIVE gigs and concerts but at times its like watching MTV Hits all over again just with the added HD!

I noted whilst I am at it MTV Music is going to show Rock AM Ring ... I thought it be first run on MTV Live? Guess not!

As for MTV plastering there shows on all of their channels - can the sister stations HIGHLIGHT one of their shows?? Bored already seeing NEW Geordie Shore starting tonight (as well as VH1 advertising it per usual)

Yep, just looking now and the latest Weekly viewing summary and the lowest channels (non music) are:

Channel Average daily reach
000s % 000s % %
Fox News 38 0.1 157 0.3
Horse & Country 18 * 102
Vox Africa 33 0.1 118 0.2
BET has gone up and My Channel is no longer BARB reported. Horse & Country has always had extremely low figures and My Channel used to get 1000.

I have argued on that name MTV Rocks - I admit not my style of music but that name is one of the dumbest names MTV comes out with - much preferred MTV2 but that name won't see the light of day again but definately MTV Indie or Alternative is most suited (Remember seeing Bastille - Rhythm of the Night on that channel went WTF?)

But in saying that this is what I have been saying all along the channels start losing for what they stood for and go off on one ... play and stick to music your meant to play if its hip hop and rnb its MTV Base if its house music trance its MTV Dance if its pop wih mix of music its MTV Hits and so on..

So 26k isn't the lowest......life in the old dog yet, even if CS Dance really needs a change.

They have cut back on the In The Mixes but seem to play the same two over and over now.

MTV channels seem to be the worst for their identity if you know what I mean. This is how it should be:

MTV Music: Latest chart hits and new releases
MTV Base Urban music only. No Ed Sheeran or Jessie J types and less chart music and more classics.
MTV Rocks/New name Either be rock music only or change their name and focus on rock and indie.
MTV Dance New & classic dance, trance, deep house, drum & bass, dubstep etc. Cut down on chart music.
MTV Hits Only hits from the last 10 years. It's currently a copy of MTV Music.
MTV Classic Classics from 1960s to 10 years ago.
MTV Live New and classic gigs and festivals plus exclusive performances and live lounge (BBC Radio 1) type shows.
VH1 Classics and rarely played music from 1980 to now.

Talking of Radio 1, I was made to listen to snippets of this at the weekend and it was enough to never make me want to listen again.

Alice Lavigne? Oh dear

The others were shocking too and the music....

Her new song is terrible, but I think it's a joke because unlike other artists she hasn't strayed too far from her roots.

Alice, not Avril

Apparantly I spelt Lavigne wrong, it's Levine

Alice Levine is one of the presenters on Radio 1

Avril Lavigne/Alice Levine - easy mistake to make

Oh Alice Levine, her shows don't appeal to me.

Jameela Jamil is much better.

Looking at the Radio 1 list, it's terrible.

They've even got Matt Edmonson.
