Depends if you are profitable for them or not.

You tell them what you want, not the other way round. If you don't get what you want threaten to leave...

They couldn't care less, they are offering extremely poor deals the last couple of months, in many cases not even matching new customer contracts on the Three website.

Heading says 'terrible three'.
Why would you want to stay with them?

Left 3 for the same reasons. My other half had a contract for £19.50 , 1100 mins or texts and 300 3 to 3 calls. They offered her a poor nokia 6600 handset, and 500 mins/texts for £20.

When i argued with them that it was a worse deal. they offered other deals that just were equally as poor. I told them to stuff it.

Whose loss? I got a cracking deal with 02 for £19.98 per month, 800 mins, 1600 texts and unlimited 02 to 02 calls. Bought a new Viewty for £90, bingo!

I had no gripe with 3 until this week. If thats how they treat customers, they wont have many left!

Regarding coverage they have a deal to share the T Mobile network, is this right?

Depends what you mean by 'deal'. They share masts with T Mobile, they do not share 'coverage'.

Three use Orange as their backup network.

yes they do share coverage. As part of the share one of the exsisting sites will go if they both have adjacent sites, leaving one node to provide coverage for both operators.

Three got the worse end of the deal

I have had no problems with 3 in over '3' years (pardon the pun). Excellent coverage in all the areas where I go. Perfect when I'm in Austria using the '3 at home' which is just like using your minutes etc. as if you are in the UK. I'm Nokia biased so have had them most of the time. Last upgrades were about a year ago when my OH got a N95 & I got the N95 8GB.

If you look carefully enough, you can get an INQ1 phone free, on a £15/month plan with 75 minutes cross-network calls, unlimited 3-3 calls, unlimited texts and unlimited internet.

So long as you don't need a big wedge of voice minutes it seems a pretty good deal. Just switched over to it myself.

In my (well, my parents) experience the best thing to do is not take any deals when you call them to cancel and go ahead with the cancellation. So far with 3 contracts they have always called us back about 3 days before the end date to offer some good deals. One time we got offerred 400 mins, 250 texts, 25 video mins, 25 MMS and £5 downloads for £35 for 18 months. Didnt get a new phone, just kept the existing stuff. This was for 2 contracts my parents took out together.

After they were up they offered us a refurb Nokia 6500 with 700 mins and some texts for £10 a month, 12 month contract. For the second phone it was £10 a month, 18 months, M+M 300 and a new SE K660i.

Eh? A 6500, plus 700 minutes, plus texts for £10 a month was a very good deal then. As was the previous deal compared to others which were available at that time.

Sorry I didnt explain it properly. It was £35 per phone for the WHOLE 18 months. So just under £2 a month. They just put a big credit on the bill and started deducting from that.
