Subtitle behaviour is deteriorating.
I'm not sure what on earth is going on now.
When I first got my box back in November, subtitles were almost always present and correctly synchronised with the programme. For a couple of months now things have been getting worse and worse with programmes that should have subtitles not showing any (the box allows you to select 'English' but nothing appears), and those with subtitles being way out of synch. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the box not handling something in the subtitle stream or something to do with the way the broadcasters are transmitting them. Has anyone else noticed a deterioration in subtitling? |

There seems to be a difference dependant on the channel, or at least its content. Some programmes seem to be too old to heve been subtitled, but the channel showing that programme has the capability of transmitting subtitles. The next category seems to be more recent stuff where the synchronisation is out, with the text before the speech, and the last category which is newish seem to have perfect functionality.

And all the episodes of the new series of Lewis had the synch problem. I've never seen a synch problem on analogue, Freeview or Sky. This seems to be an entirely new phenomenon. |

I am trying to analyse whether the problem is in the transmission or the recordings by looking at the programmes live and comparing the subtitles in the recording afterwards, but it is difficult to keep note. Has anybody else tried this?
