FM transmitters are rubbish.
They never have, and never will be, on a par with a hard wired connection. That goes double if the device it's connected to is designed to have an iPod connected to it - they're not in the same league, never mind ballpark!
I have tried, and experienced, several FM transmitters and every single one of them has been garbage if you ask me.
Far too many variables:

Interference.
Your location.
The location of the ariel in your car.
They usually need batteries. If they don't, then they drain the iPod/MP3 player.
FM quality, even without interference, isn't that great in the first place.
Prone to problems as you drive about, especially over distance. No need to "re-tune" a cable every 10 miles!
vs

A cable. What can go wrong? Not much unless the cable itself actually breaks.
No contest really is it?
My mother taught me plenty thank you.
No need to take it so personally .... and you're right, I'm entitled to my opinion ... and my opinion is FM transmitters are mince!
