Hi All,

I had set up my Humax HDR to record a programme this morning, it has not recorded it, but it is still in the schedule. It does not give any clue as to why the recording did not happen.

The program concerned was Holiday Airport at 10:35, on the Sky box it normally gives a message such as failed recording and some reason but there does not seem to be any thing similar on the Humax.

Any advice welcome,

SDM197.

In general the Foxsat seems to handle scheduled recordings quite well. I had problems last Thursday with The Bill where it showed that "The download failed. Reason Unknown". However, when I opened the folder it had recorded OK!! Unlike the same program last week that said the same and it wasn't there! Is it the broadcaster or the Humax. It seems that we just have to put up with these things until one or both of them sort things out.

Grand designs failed to record this week and also the series link for shameless failed to update. I had to add it again manually. Channel 4 are seemingly one of the worse culprits for series link errors.

Countryfile failed to record on Sunday evening (BBC1 19:30 - 20:30). The Humax came on properly at 19:15 but when I looked at the box at 19:50 there was no recording indicator. Switching the box fully on, Countryfile was well underway and the scheduled timer was still waiting for the start-up signal.

Well done BBC, another fine mess you've got me into! Yet another programme I'll have to set up as a manual, weekly recording.

Did anyone have a problem with a scheduled recording for the above this last Sunday? Luckily, I was watching and noticed it had failed to start recording so quickly jumped in and hit the record button... (I'm collecting all of this season's races on an external drive...)

No mine recorded OK. I don't rely on the auto setting though I use padding although if it then overruns the HDR does not schedule track correctly and it will finish at the original time (+ padding). To be on the safe side I would also record the program after it.

Yes I had problem with Spanish GP, I got in 10 minutes after it had started and the Humax box was on so I assumed recording when I went to play from the start however I could not find the recording.

When I looked in the Guide the GP was flagged to recored, but it never did.

Not sure if this is related but my SKY+ was also set to record the Spanish GP when I checked it was not recording and had been removed from the EPG (I know I set it as the following programme Eastenders was still set to allow for any overrun.)

I wonder if the BBC did a change to the scheduel information and got it wrong (it wouldnt be the 1st time)

As well as the last epsidoe of grand designs not recording (when in previous weeks it had), i set "Click Online" to record (on News 24 every sunday) and it hasn't recorded 1 single episode yet!

Not sure what's going off there, my old "Pace Twin PVR" still has it set to record and it does what it says on the tin, records!

This is the only problem i've had with the Humax PVR and i've had it around 6 weeks now.

Yes - Spanish GP didn't work, box still showing the clock at 7.30pm waiting to record. And then this evening Corrie hasn't recorded. Again, box showing the clock at 8.05pm. waiting to record, but nothing in the library. Two missed recordings in 4 days. Very disappointing.

Oh well, at least I'm not alone then I suppose  Let's hope that the BBC get their act together at some point... It is their Freesat platform after all...

I haven't had any problems.
Have you switched the box off at the mains and restarted?

I've had the same problem with recordings being missed for no obvious reason. Yes, switching off at the mains and then powering up again will sometimes fix the remaining timers - but that won't bring back missed programmes. Home entertainment devices need to be reliable enough to manage timed recordings without user intervention.

We've waited months for a firmware update to fix this kind of thing, so I hope it's coming soon.

If the missed recordings are down to the broadcasters not sending the correct signal, then we and Humax (or the Freesat+ committee) need to nag them to get it right. Surely broadcasting a "start" and "end" flag for each programme is not that difficult?

Aha! But do you ever get a reply, let alone a meaningful reply? Freesat seem to be a waste of electrons and Humax are maybe busy sifting through their in-box

Were you specifically trying to record the Spanish GP? Same for Corrie on Wednesday (13th)? I'll restart at the mains anyway, but other progs are recording OK, and I wasn't the only one to miss the GP, so would be surprised if this were the problem.

Mainly ITV, and sometimes CH4 & BBC.

Sometimes get a reasonable reply, but mostly not (just a bland acknowledgement).

I'm sure ITV, specifically, are getting sick of my emails, but if we don't tell them, they'll never know.

My box also failed to record the GP. I believe this is the first complete failure I've had without any error/warning.

I have had my first failed recording on this my second Humax (the first one had and HDD failure bigtime after three months.)
Robin Hood showed as a failed ITV HD recording (reason Unknown) but it showed up in the folder as recorderd!

My single biggest issue is on recording the wire on BBC2. when I first started recording it, I left the padding on auto. For some reason it started ending too soon. So I put on a padding of 2 mins before and 3 mins after, it still occasionly stopped recording too soon. I then switched to full auto again afte being nagged by my wife as to why the end was missing. Once again it decided to lop off a vital 3 minutes at the end!
So now its on Auto start and 5 mimute overrun. Lets see what else happens.

I never had this problem on my original box. Has anybody else has similar issues?

Isn't Robin Hood a BBC HD programme?

Re your "Wire" problem, it isn't just limited to the HDR, see this thread here.

@Savvy

Quite right Robin Hood is a BBC programme, I record it for my son so I don't really pay any attention to it

Thanks for the link to the thread on the Wire being chopped. At least I know its not me going mad, just a BBC signal issue by the look of it. Which does make a bit of a nonsense of technology.. Ahh well such is life
