Passwords
Having very recently obtained a Humax FoxsatHDR i am faced with the problems arising from unfamiliarity with the detailed operation of this item. One problem which
has remained intractable concerns the password facility. I understand on the basis of my current very limited knowledge of the operating procedure that when one selects a particular programme for recording then access to that location is locked and requires a password to unnlock. I have been faced with a screen reuiring inputting a password despite not having set one up. On inputting the systems default password I can get no response whateverand I then found the system d to be completely seized. It resisted all endeavours to move on and selecting standby and re-opening the system made no differnece with the screen window requiring inputting the password then re-appearing. It was only by removing and restoring power when the system re-booted that this password requiement dis-appeared. However a consequence of this was that on-built memory failed to retain the reservations that had been created, hence it is necessary to set these up again. I would mach appreciate any advice and assistance whereby this problem may be avoided in future, in short what have I been doing wrong, also being informed whether it is possible to dis-able the password facility altogether. I have not found any references in the manual which provide any help in this matter. It may have been helpful if the manual had provided an index whereby one could readily refer to all references to password and possibly as a consequence establish where I have not been following the appropriate procedure. |

See if page 73 in the Appendix item 9 is what you are looking for.

As you have seen in the manual, there is a password facitlity. However, it is mainly used to lock channels and recordings that you have made. You have to manually lock these so, unless they have done so, they should not be locked. If you have locked them, 0000 should unlock unless you have changed the password yourself.
The curious thing about your original post is that turning the HDR off and on stopped it asking for a password. That should never happen for any genuine use of the password facility as it would defeat the purpose of it. I suggest you have had a hardware/software glitch that probably won't happen again unless there is soemthing really strange about your particular box. It might be a good idea for you to do a factory reset to clear any possible lingering after effects of the glitch. This will clear recording schedules but existing recordings will be retained. |

Many thanks for your helpful reply. I have not knowingly locked a channel and certainly would not have done so had I been aware of the problems subsequently experienced with password in endavours to unlock

Thank you for you helpful reply. Prior to the problem experienced I had not knowingly lockeda channel and certainly would not have done so had I been aware of the consequences !
