BB 8900 unlock help

theres a guy in work who needs to unlock his blackberry 8900 for using abroad, he has rung t-mobile asking for his unlock code and they basically said no to him cause he's just got it on upgrade.

Does anyone know if there is a way to unlock his phone without looking at paying someone to do it?

why would u need to unlock a phone to use abroad? unless u mean using a foreign sim whilst you're there and btw unlocking a bb can only be done in such a way that it could invalidate the warantee as it involves editing the f/w
