Mobile phone and headphones

If you have a mobile phone with a radio and the earbuds you get with it keep falling out of your ears can you plug in lightweight headphones if it's a mini jack ?

Would that be OK or do you need to use the earbuds supplied ?

Would different headphones have a different impedance or anything that would damage the mobile ?

you don't say what phone you have.

but as a rule if regular head phones fit, they will work.
