Does anyone know how to contact vodafone's second line support? I'm getting nowhere with their call centre/stores.

what's the actual problem, maybe we can help.

you used the vodafone forum, they seem to be a bit better?

My phone is dead (only had it back for 6 days since its last repair for the same problem) and they are so far refusing to replace the phone (a repair is no good to me as I'm going abroad so will have no vodafone shop to take it back to if it breaks again).

Haven't received an official response from vodafone since it died earlier (they did give the standard "send it in for repair" reply though).

don't send it to vod for repair. Deal with the manufacturer. Check out their website. I only know the details of the nokia warranty. But you probably have a pan european warranty if that helps.

Do vodafone do shoddy repairs then? And would Nokia be sympathetic to my new replacement request due to going abroad?

it's not that they do especially shoddy repairs. it's that they are somewhat disingenuous about the way that they operate.

they are paid by the manufacturer for each problem that they resolve. even if they tell you that your phone was some how water damaged. which seems to be their favourite trick at the moment. so there interests are not exactly in line with the customers. plus where as the manufacturer would give you a new phone if it can't be fixed. vod will send you a referb, to get rid of them. plus it takes a week

the advantage of your local care point is that that you can often speak to the engineer. if you can find an authorised repair point in an independent shop that's your best bet (preferably not in CPW.) and they should be able to do it whilst you wait.

Thanks. It's just a shame I don't have a local care point and after being on hold for 12 minutes, they hung up on me!

The 5800.

Finally got through to the call centre and they have the same policy of 3 repairs before a replacement, and also informed me there are no ways of getting a repair while in the US.

I guess I'll just try the repair one more time, and if it shows signs of breaking again before I leave, I'll just happen to lose it...
