I'm going to a cocktail bar this weekend and would love to try one, but with the three different spirits in them I'm afraid of paying a high price for one.

Has anyone ever bought one in a bar?

Depends on the bar.

Do they mix proper cocktails or is it pre-mixed?
Do they have offers? A bar I go to has a deal for 3 spirits & mixer for £3.50. If you ask nicely they'll knock up a long island iced tea

The best one I had used to be from a girl I used to know who was a bar manager. She had to stop doing them becasue apparenty there was a law about having a max of spirits in a cocktail and she was putting shots of this & that all over the place.

Not sure if it was true or she just couldn't be bothered making them any more

Thanks

They don't get you too drunk or anything, do they?

I'd hate to be in the company of family and make an utter fool out of myself hehehe

The bar I'm going to doesn't do pre-mixed, they always make them from scratch!

Depends on your ability to handle alcohol

I would say that one shouldn't do you too much damage but at the same time they are extremely tasty and very easy to sip

That's all I need

Pissed drunk from sipping too many Long Island Teas while family look on disgraced and ashamed of my antics

Seriously, I'll only have ther one or two

How long is a piece of string? Where is the bar? Is it an expensive bar? What spirits do they use?

Geez

Well, this bar is expensive. My friend gets magaritta's there and they are 10 Euro a pop. When you buy the first one you get the second one free. That's it though. Just on the first round. You pay for them all after that.

Maybe I'll give the Long Island a miss. I'll end up broke after three or four!

Why don't you ring the bar? Or see if they have a website? Or name the bar?!

You could always make one before you go out if you have all the necessary spirits at home, they're easy to make

I've been looking it up already

I'll be going shopping tomorrow and I'll stock up on liquor and try and make one for myself tomorrow night after dinner.

If the same deal is offered on the Long Islands that's really not bad - Two for ten Euros, if they are properly made is a great deal for cocktails, then after that you can switch to something else, cheaper and lighter.
They are also strong tasting and not one of those cocktails that you accidentally gulp down in seconds so they'll last you a bit as well.

I honestly don't know if they make them properly because I have never been to this bar before. Hopefully now the same deal will apply to this cocktail. I'm not going to slug them down though. I'd end up passed out on the bar and being removed by managment lol!

I'll honestly only have two or three and then move on to beer. I really don't want to be legless in a cocktail bar.

OP - does the place you are going have a website? If so look on the menu for prices

As a rule anything that mixes spirits is probably going to make you feel rough...

If I drink cocktails I go for something with one type of alcohol in it (IE a vodka cocktail) and then switch to vodka and a mixer when I can no longer afford cocktails

About £5-8 on average. Depends if it's a cocktail bar or your average slug and lettuce with a happy hour cocktail menu!

Well it's a bit like asking how much a pint costs or how much a steak costs isn't it?

If they are going to make me feel rough I'll deffo stick to one or two

I'm terrified of running out of money hehehe. I'll go on Bud after the cocktails, or maybe even just vodka and tonic. I think it may be better not to mix beer with spirits.

I had one this eveningg. She charged us 12 Euro a pop. Boy it was strong. It was like paint stripper. I took a sip and was amazed at how strong they actually taste.

You do know that you are going to have to get one from a different bar, or many different bars to compare in taste and price. It's a slippery slope
