Using LNB Out on Foxsat HDR into Sky+
Morning all,
Just bought an HDR and now have the unenviable task of (a) teaching the missus how to use it and (b) getting her to watch all the stuff on the Sky+ before I give Murdoch a call and tell him to get stuffed. SO, how do I go about the transfer from Sky+ to the Hummy in terms of wiring it all up? Does Sky+ insist on two (or indeed any) LNB feeds being connected in order to watch stuff on the drive? (I wouldn't be surprised) I was rather hoping to simply put the HDR in place of the Sky+ at the end of my twin-LNB feeds, connect that to the TV, speakers etc and leave the Sky+ as a standalone unit and wait for everything to be watched. If the Sky+ box requires an LNB feed, could I use the HDR's LNB Out ? |

You can connect tuner1 out to your sky box lnb1 connection but to make it work while the hdr is in sby you need to turn off power saving in sby to allow the sky box to control a lnb. Sky+ invariably fit a quad lnb so if the dish is accessible run a second pair of coax connections from the spare outlets to the sky box. This will give you full access to the free channels and if you want to pay £10.00 a month can still use it as a recorder. |

Thanks for the advice - I'll have a go. I do have a quad lnb but there's only one free as I have an old standard Sky box elsewhere in the house which is on a Sky Free Sat card.
I'll try looping through the LNB from Tuner one and see how I get on. Once we've cleared off the Sky+ box it'll be going into storage or onto eBay!!! |
