The heart of the show where we could get to know the housemates more personally, which has now been ripped away so they can tell people who THEY want to win instead of people making up their own minds
Never again will we able to WHATM except for a few small puny hours in the middle of the night, never again will we be able to play the nomcam competition and see who could get the most predictions right of who would be up for the public vote that week

Nothing more depressing.
I dont care if people call me sad no lifer they are more than likely true.
the live feed got me through some of the hardest times of my adult life and when real life was falling apart it was total escapism.
What really saddens me about all this the very people who should realise what power core the feed gives the entire show..its totally flown over their heads.

Always reassuring to check the live feed to see that your favourite was still in the House after one of those massive House arguments.
Now we will know nothing until the following night's highlights. If the team that used to clear the live feed for broadcast have been sacked then there won't be any video clips on the C4 website either because those clips won't have been cleared for public viewing.

Exactly. It's seen me through some horrendous times too. Those saying 'get over it' should maybe pause to think why live feed is important for some and as for the 'get a life' brigade?

Everyone appears to be seated in the living area. Sara is talking about her upbringing, and all and sundry seem to be listening to her with a most respectful silence. It doesn't seem to be easy for her to talk about it, either. I don't remember the details, only a general impression that she'd been kicked about from one relative to another.
This was important for me, as it was here that I felt that if Sara could command this sort of respectful attention from the rest of them, then she had as much right to be there as anyone else, never mind not being an "original."

oh the live feed my summer's will never be the same i would have it on when cooking dinner, because i work shifts it would be on either before or after i go to work.call me a loser if you must but i enjoyed it.
the memories not being able to get to bed during both fight night bb5 and bb9.

the lf bits that made good viewing like watching the before and after nominating trying to second guess,the nominations announced before and after the evictions watching them get dressed and watching the reaction after.the task announcements.
then there was the endless fun of watching the highlight show and seeing who was the producers favorite, what was shown what was skipped then of course coming on here and having a right good moan about what was left out but secretly feeling happy you had witnessed footage others didn't watch.

The live feed was the one thing that differentiated BB from every other tedious reality show on TV. The series will no longer be compulsive viewing because with only around 45 minutes of coverage for every 24 hours, a very large percentage of people will soon lose interest.
Live Feed – the lure that drew me to BB. I like to see BB as drama. The live feed element made it ground breaking for me. This was something else; drama on a new scale; a grand scale. A drama to commit to like never before in my TV history. Characters you could virtually live with for three months, anytime of night or day. I did not need them to be attention seekers or overly dramatic. I just wanted them to be themselves, as much as was possible, and to give the show their best shot. If they did that, like or dislike them, I appreciated their efforts.
I found live feed more enlightening in many ways than a batch of highlight shows. Sometimes the more mundane the better. Seemingly trivial interactions gave more insight into housemates than some highlighted rant or supposedly candid diary room “entry”.
Hopefully BB will survive and the full live feed will return. If not I will remember it as mostly good, with painful interludes, and sometimes great great drama. And despite the insistent doubts of what commonsense I have, time well spent.

You know you can just turn it on, start watching and forget about the problems you have just for a while.
BB was so unique with the live feed, like a show in a million. It wasn't just a show with it, it was an experience. It allowed you to watch as much or as little as you wanted, satisfying all fans of the show.
Without it the show is pretty much gone. A few hours a night is all we get? I'll miss the early morning wake ups and the morning after the night before. I'll miss watching housemates gathered for a new task, whilst trying to figure out what they are saying beyond the birdy sounds. I'll miss the immediate aftermath of evictions. None of that is no longer available.
The live feed needs to be brought back in one way or the other. Whether it's an online subscription based service (most people would be willing to pay at least £30 for the series) or the red button comes back or they just stick it on one of their less popular channels, such as More4+1 (hardly ever gets ratings above 100k-150k). I'd even be happy if they at least gave us a few extra hours in the day on E4.

It does have a few stains - mainly red wine and banana loaf - these could be removed but add to it's character.

I hardly ever watched the highlight shows, the only reason I liked BB was the fact that I could watch the live feed whenever it suited me.

I liked BB best when you could text and messages appeared on the screen when the live feed was on! I only started watching when BB6 started but i do remember seeing some live feed for BB5

What about the fact that the popularity of the live feed has probably decreased over the years due to cutting people off from the service, e.g. scrapping red button for Freeview and scrapping internet feed?
The live feed was the part of the show that created the buzz. People watched and would spread the word. These people would tell others and so on. It was an incentive to tune in and also the way in which many tabloids got their main stories about BB from. Now where are they going to go? Either to something else, or squeeze the minimal coverage for what they can, like stirring up even more trouble in terms of complaints. The papers have a habit of over-exaggerating things and causing people to become panicked so that they complain.
Infuriating people even further is the decision to supposedly cut back E4 live feed to just late night / early morning. Why are you pushing the fans away from the show. Surely it was obvious that fans were going to be angry by the axing and INCREASING E4 coverage would at least soften the blow. Surely you could spare us endless Friends / Scrubs / Smallville / Gilmore Girls etc. repeats for at least a few more hours in the afternoon / early evening? That is at least what your generic email responses imply.
Without the 24/7 live feed, BB is no longer the great show it used to be, as is evident by CBB6. I'm sure BB10 will follow suit. Please, before you look at the decreasing ratings and think things need to be "shaken up" with some big twist or some new housemates, look at what the fans are actually saying and respond to it.

I think for me, BB5 was the best year of live feed we've had.
Of course we had the infamous 'Fight Night' and the ability to watch both the house and the bedsit, and even the bedsit watching the house.
They kept the house mates busy with tasks, both night and day. They kept them from sun bathing too much and from singing.
During that year I only went to sleep if most of the house mates were a sleep, even then I would have the live feed on while I was sleeping and would wake up if anything happened.
And of course we had the first major year of WHATM'ing, which made BB even better than it could be.

It amazes me that they want to show endless repeats rather than a couple of months worth of live feed.
It's bad enough when they repeat the hightlights programme 2 times a day instead of live feed.
They only have to show it between 8am and 12am, and 2pm to 6pm on E4 and that would wet my appetite.
Of course 24hr feed would be ideal.

For someone who has contributed in excess of 37,000 posts and has been a member of DS for nearly 7 years, you'd think the OP would know that these pointless 'Appreciation Threads' don't belong on the main forum - they have their own dedicated inferior sub-forum.. not to mention that the mourning over the commerically justified decision to withdraw the red button live feed is reaching 'Diana-esque' proportions...

I used to watch BB online all day and night for the time C4 allowed us that is, but it was FREE for around 18 months, then C4 wanted a bit of the action, and CLOSED Free net viewing, and those who could afford to pay for it did so, but I couldn't afford it, so Had to watch the H/Ls on C4, which was better than nothing in those days. Then watched it online using Real Player and that was FREE for a time, until they introduced Premium Rates and that was it for me.
Only way I could see BB was via the H/Ls show on C4 and watched it avidly as I was a BB fan. But when I became a member of C4 BB General forum, I started reading LF from fms like AOTN, and stayed reading them all the time. It was AOTN who told me the difference between LF and what C4 were showing in their H/Ls show, and you could see the BIG difference, and after that I became an avid LF reader, but watched H/Ls to see what they didn't show, which was quite a lot.
There were many C4 forumers who only wanted to watch the H/Ls and dissed the fms who wanted to see the Full picture, and we had big rows about it. But if people want to watch BB in a Half life, then that's up to them, but seeing the FULL picture is what BB is all about.
I became a Lutter and typed everything I saw, or as much I could in my own way, but didn't make it up, as that isn't my style, also no point in making up stuff as it's dishonest.
Some folks think BB fans don't have a life, but if they thought deeply about it, not everyone has a job, and some can't work through disability, and what BB gave me was a sense of belonging to a community of people, where I could commune with them via what the HMs did. I enjoyed Lutting enormously, as I also got to know the HMs, and what made them tick.
If C4 are going to show a program where real, live people are involved then we need to have the full picture of them. If C4 want a Soap, then they could employ actors. and wouldn't need to look hard for them, as the UK has many actors. But BB isn't a Soap, and C4 have lost their direction thinking it is.

It's not an appreciation thread for a housemate so I don't see why that should be true.
It's not "commercially justified" at all. No other country has reduced live feed and they manage to make BB pay its way, so it's obviously just an excuse on the part of C4.
And the long and short of it is this: the whole concept of Big Brother is to watch the group of housemates at any hour of the day... all day if you feel like it. Without that access, it's really not Big Brother.
To say that people are grieving in Diana-esque is quite an exaggeration! There are just a lot of us who are not really interested in watching a BB with only a few hours of late night live feed per day.
