Why Do People Hate Mariah Carey?
I'll admit, I'm a massive fan of her's, but I know plenty of people are not . But what is it that people have against her? ![]() Except for 4 songs , she has written every single one of her songs throughout her 19 year career - lyrics and melody. People perceive her to be like some kind of robot/stuck up, but that is really not the case- from all her interviews, award speeches and general appearance, she's very humble, talkative and open. (I'll admit her contestant section on XFactor was strange, but I genuninely think she had some work done to her face recently and couldn't move lol )The whole "singing 50 notes when 1 note will do" is fair enough, but to say she sings without emotion is not fair. That's as ignorant as saying heavy metal singers do not know what they are singing about, just because they don't pronounce their words clearly - but that's not the case either.

I don't like her because she screeches like a cat and is so far up her own arse she discovered a new planet.

I wouldn't say people hate her, it's more to do with the direction of her music. I'm not saying an artist should make the same kind of music forever, but everything that made her unique during her heyday she abandoned by selling out to the masses- via the stuff she does now. Even when we first got a taster with 'Butterfly' she kept what made her famous but exploring new territory as well. After that, personally it all went a bit downhill.
Some of her diva demands are a little too outrageous |

Rich, successful, talented and 'fabulous' people will always get their share of 'hate'...rightly or wrongly. It goes with the territory and is no more or less legitimate than the 'love' they get.
I'm not a fan of her music. Otherwise my only real objection is her chronic simpering. A giant-sized ego is kind of par for the course I feel. |

Surely any "love" she get's will be based on that fact that people like her music/artistry - i.e. fact......As opposed to the share of "hate" which is based on tabloid gossip? Therfore the "love" is more legitimate.

I know the tabloids say otherwise but in interviews she always comes across to me as cool and laid back, with a sense of humour, not at all stuck up. I like her. I love her music too, her older stuff though, not a huge fan of her more recent music, though it's alright.
I don't think she screeches/wails/shrieks etc either. It's easy to say that about anyone with a "big" voice who you don't like. She actually has a softer tone to her voice which isn't close to sounding anything as harsh as screeching. I doubt anyone who believes she is a big demanding diva has actually seen enough of her in interviews or anything to be able to make such a judgement anyway. |

I love Mariah. The media always make her out to be totally upherself and a big old demanding diva but in interviews she always comes across really well. I remember her on the Sunday Night Project last year and she was laidback, funny and very entertaining.
I'll never forgive her for not releasing Migrate though

I think back in the day some of her live performances were great , I just wish people would call out the sucky performances she does nowadays as they are not all that! She may have been a legend but she should stick to her studio performances from now on

I'll never ever forgive for destroying Without You. A classic song and to say she murdered it is being really really polite.

It's not about people hating her, many people feel like Mariah is wasting her talent because she is not trying hard anymore. She doesn't use her voice nowdays, she lipsynchs in almost every performance.
even the songs that she sings now shouldn't be in Mariah's CD i miss the old Mariah |

Because, although she has an amazing vocal range, she doesn't need to show it off EVERY SINGLE TIME. Less is more. It's my criticism of all the 'Divas' - I really loathe people wailing around the tune.
It's a shame, because I still like 'Vision of Love'
