Nokia n95 8gb battery
Is anyone finding that the battery doesn't last 2 mins without having to recharge it in about a day or so?
considering mine is only 1200mh, is there not a higher powerful one you can get for it to make it last longer between charges? |

not really. you'll see third part batteries that claim to be 2 or 3000mAh, but they aren't. if you could fit that much power in a battery that size then nokia would do it.
i charge mine most nights because i have my email connected 24/7 and i browse a lot, but without that it lasts a couple of days, 3 maybe. the obvious things are to turn off bluetooth and wifi when you're not using them, and turn down the brightness on the display. but if you are sitting on the net for a couple of hours a day then it's not going to last long, i mean you wouldn't expect it to last longer then a laptop doing the same job. |

I would do a couple of full discharge and re-charge cycles. It's a bit of a pain but resist the temptation to charge before the phone completely dies. The low battery warning can go on for hours!
See how you get on. My 95 8GB is 15 months old now and the battery lasts around 3-4 days. However I don't use it for anything other than phone & text messages. The bluetooth is almost always on as I connect to the car & PC. |

there are two things i should have made clear.
the screen brightness can have a massive effect. as battlezone alludes to, the fuel gauge can become uncalibrated from time to time, and only really gets back into line if you do a full discharge. |

Its not a good idea to do repeat complete discharges of a lithium based battery. Its unnecessary and will seriously shorten the life. This recalibration flagpole refers to, only applies to lithium laptop batteries manufactured before 2006.
The best way to keep a lithium battery in good condition is to charge it for the minimum amount of time. (perhaps an hour or so each evening) don't charge overnight and unplug when the phone says the battery is charged. |

Mine lasts 3 or so days with medium use but the big killer for me is the bluetooth. When I forget and leave it on (as I use it with my handsfree) I soon find out as the battery vanishes!
I have a small workaround (which I often forget) which is when I am just about to get out of my car I press the bluetooth headset button which activates voice control dialling and I say "bluetooth". That switches the bluetooth off on the phone but obviously I have no more voice control then. At least that way I get the max battery out of the phone. I have got a spare battery (non Nokia) but it is a bit average so is only a back up. The WLAN scanning doesn't seem to have any affect either way so I often leave it on. |
