There are delays with the delivery of the handset, however as I understand it should be with Orange within the next week.

You've actually used an i8910 then? I've just cancelled my order with Phones4U, I will just get the Tocco Ultra at the moment and, then I will purchase the Idou when it's released.

I played with one yesterday in the Orange shop and loved it.

Problem is that I don't want it on Orange.

And yes (for what I want it for (clear screen/good camera/video/HSPDA/replaceble battery/MMS and more)) it totally blows the iPhone away (as did the HTC Touch HD that was also on Orange).

I have been reading that there are a lot of sound issues with this phone, that's why I've changed my mind about it.

Poor audio during voice calls, and poor sound recording when HD recording (which is inexcusable for me)

The problems I have been reading about regarding sound issues include the i8910 using a low quality AMR Narrow Band codec at 8000Hz 16 bit 2 channel 12.8 Kbps bit rate.
Below is a link to a video of a concert which was apparently recorded by the phone, the sound, imo. is terrible.
Also, which speaking to people on the phone, the user at the other end sounds like they are in a bathroom or a tunnel.

Please qualify that?

Sure, the iPhone has a slicker UI, but its chronically lacking in features compared to the i8910.

Digital compass, full blown GPS (okay, v3 iPhone may well have that), 8mp camera supporting HD video. DNLA support (stream the recorded videos from the phone through a PS3). DivX support out of the box. Open bluetooth (data transfer, A2DP - coming soon to the iPhone).

I know that specs aren't everything, but the i8910 does look stunning.

How poor would the sound recording be? Personally I wouldnt expect top notch sound recording, after all it is a phone and not a full on HD camera with the fluffy mic and stuff. When I got my N95 I noticed that the audio for calls was pretty poor. Got used to it though.

EDIT: After watching the YouTube video posted I know what you mean

Still, Im not much of a person who makes videos. As long as it takes HD pictures I would be happy. Plus I have a list of other phones such as the N97 or maybe the slightly older X1.

Im interested in getting this phone as well, my contract is up in September. However, going with Orange would be a last resort, previous experiences with "customer services" were dreadful!

I was going to get a Tocco Ultra Edition but I'm intrested in the N75 myself. I currently have a N95-2 which I love, and think I will go for the N75 instead of the Tocco Ultra. One of the plans that I read about was £40 pm for 18 months on Vodafone

where did you hear this? as far as I know Vodafone won't be bothering with this, as they have the HTC Magic now and the Nokia N97 coming in July.

Just wondering if most recording equipment would have problems recording a concert, as it's quite hard to get the levels right (especially with load bass)?

The audio seems ok on the videos that I have seen.

There is one here (try it in HD at full screen): HD video on Omnia i8910

I was reading another forum and one of the posters mentioned that they had phoned Vodafone up and asked about the i8910 being on their network. The reply was that Vodafone would have the handset by the
19th June, along with some other models.
